No worries, Its too clean to give up to the rust gods. Even formerly wrecked this is cherry for a midwest Subaru. I may have to drive it on the salty streets ONCE to get it salvage inspected but I hope not. This will be one Spoiled Brat, like always.

I will take one of each. Love the scoop job on the "Monster" wagon at the bottom.

Who's is this?

Thanks Meeky.... I think I am making it too complicated so I am going to try again after work with running a direct line from the intake to the vac modulator and plugging other things.

Can anybody help me on this?
-
I believe if it doesnt have FLOW with an ---> or similar on it then it doesnt matter but I would verify that with the seller of the muffler. You might also ask a muffler shop in your area.

Thanks GD. Kudos to EdRach for his quality replies in those posts too, lots of excellent tips. If you skim thru the posts be sure to stop on any that he wrote for sure! -
Anybody with a GLF? Anybody in Dallas or close?
ShawnW replied to Ma-fia's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
They dropped the "GLF" in 83 but still made the car. I recently bought one. Photo album full of pictures of it that I took the night I got it is here: http://usmb.net/gallery/albup15 -
I installed an 84 4wd Auto Wagon EA81 engine and intake manifold into an 83 2wd Auto car and I can't seem to get it to run right. I believe it mostly has to do with the vac modulator. So my question is this. Has anybody here put a Weber carb on an automatic trans equipped car and if so what does the Vac Modulator on the side of the trans want for vac?? I may have to put the intake and carb back on the motor but its 250 miles away right now and would have to be shipped to me so if I can avoid that, great. I have tried running it with and without the ECU plugged in with about the same results/symptoms.

$#@%!$$@# window seal...
ShawnW replied to ScoobieNoobie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Try popping the other side's door panel off and taking a look at how far the adjuster nut is set on it. The one with the flat bladed screwdriver in a stud with a nut on it is what I am talking about. -
Fix depends on what is left. If the nut is still in there but the threads are trashed, try putting a longer bolt of the same thread thru and putting a nut on the nut side thus clamping new threads. If the nuts isnt there then you have a bigger mess but it might require a fender washer and a new nut, etc. If you can see the ground thru the hole then you have one option, if you cant theres more.

$#@%!$$@# window seal...
ShawnW replied to ScoobieNoobie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Do you have a factory repair manual? The adjustment info is in there. Its complete, but completely confusing. There are a lot of adjustments to be made here. Theres the height and pitch and strength of how much it clings to the window. The stoppers at the top adjust the stop point of the window going up and down. I would start by taking a marker and marking every bolt on the door where it currently is so that you can go back to where you were before as chances are good that you will make it even worse than it was before. (no offense obviously) I would then begin by bumping the stop tabs at the top of the door up until the glass is snug all the way around and then move to the pitch angle adjustments. The books say what order to do it all in (sortof). -
I want an adult M or L, whatever is easier.

Help needed with oil in air filter and ticking engine
ShawnW replied to ShawnW's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Motor turned out to have a damaged valve so we put the motor from an 84 Wagon in and its running again. I still don't know how a valve cover bolt falls out like that. I never touched it. Thanks for the help. -
Already invited the winning bidder to the board but alas they already knew about the board. Time will tell.

Help needed with oil in air filter and ticking engine

Since its an automatic its a hyd lifter motor. 83 Auto's were the first to get Hyd engines. Not a replacement engine. -

EA81, no cam on the outside like an ea82. -
I have driven my 83 2wd Coupe EA81 to my parents place and on the way here it began to tick and lose oil. I lost at least 3 quarts of oil in under 100 miles and when I arrived at my folks place it was ticking pretty good. Symptoms: Oil all over the right side of the engine. Valve cover bolt no longer in the engine, believe I found it on the firewall/frame rail. Oil is in the air cleaner area and a substantial amount. Oil in the carburator as well. I am going to pull the PCV valve out and clean it (stores are closed for Turkey day) and try to replace the bolt but if anybody can think of a reason that any of this would happen I truly appreciate it.
