  1. Does this only add to the durability of the clutch or does it add performance or make the car harder to drive? I am doing the same thing except on an ea81T engine and 88 RX trans. Can I use the whole clutch kit with TO bearing or is that trans specific? Does the xt6 flywheel have to be used if you use the xt6 clutch or can I use the ea81 or ea82 flywheels?
  2. I own one just like the white impreza he got, but its yellow and I got mine at WalMart. Where did you get the Blue Impreza?
  3. Its not the 810/Maxima Diesel its only a 60 amp according to Autozone's site.
  4. Gotta wonder if that 810 Diesel (Maxima) that people were talking about in another post, would have a big one as I think Diesel vehicles tend to have heavy duty items for the glow plug systems. I would also be looking under the hoods of Isuzu vehicles if I was at a junkyard. The XT6 or early Legacy alternator has to be an easier alternative in terms of what is readily available. The Legacy one is like 75-80 amps and the XT6 is 90 I think. But that isn't IDLE amps so keep that in mind.
  5. Thanks Corky, I will start looking for another 14" pug alloy and go buy a tire. I was thinking UltimateRX had an EJ series trans in it. My 90 Legacy had a donut in the back and was AWD so that is why I was thinking the RX trans would allow for it too.
  6. Fuse? The trans didnt come with one. Is there really a fuse??
  7. Do you have to run a full size spare with the ft 4wd trans or can you run a donut or in this case a 13" tire with the rest of them being 14" on Pugs.
  8. I think the idea is great but the SVX is one of the nicest cars on the road so why mess with the motor and wiring and stuff just to lose half the coolness of the car. Just put a manual trans in the SVX and buy a GTO with a big ol V8 in it. One for the highway, one for the dragstrip.
  9. You might have had trouble because you said bearings instead of bushings but the dealer is probably the only place to get them anyway.
  10. I recommend replacing struts and shocks while you are at it but its not necessary. Its a body lift, it does not affect the suspension. The bigger tires/wheels are for looks and aren't required. But you will not take long to want the bigger ones. Thats half of the reason people do the lift kit...so the bigger tires will fit under the car. Check out http://www.ozified.com for more details.
  11. Sounds to me like you just have residual moisture in things. Watch the coolant level for a few days and see if the white smoke goes away.
  12. And the thing I remember about Jason is that all out laugh/grin attitude that he had about everything. Jason was truly hilarious and loved his Subaru. This is truly a half mast day on the board.
  13. I am currently doing the same thing on my 83 turbowagon. I haven't decided what to do about the axles yet. Probably going to have to cut and weld ea82 turbo inners to ea81 outers. That is the only solution I have read here so far but I am definately interested in other alternatives. I got Jerry's 5 speed kit mostly installed but now I have an additional problem....the rear end of the trans doesn't seem to clear the stabilizer bar. I am using an ea81 manual trans radius rod and stab bar setup. 3" lift kit. The whole trans is tilted to one side. Pics to come in a little while.
  14. The ea81 EGR light is recurring if you plug the connectors back in after resetting it.
  15. Rust in the socket and on the surfaces of the screws to the bumper could possibly cause this. Wire that has rubbed against the body for 2 decades might also have worn thru.
  16. It should outlast the headgaskets at which point you can rebuild the engine if you wish and put new gearsets/cam in.
  17. Tommy you would be better off getting the roof and t-tops that Phatbrat is selling if you are truly serious about doing this. Find a really good welder and have it done. Shawn
  18. If somebody wants to put a left step in one I have one for sale for $21.83, what I paid for it on ebay. Shipping extra. Shawn
  19. I am very happy to see another ea81T owner on here! Very happy to see another ea81T car with a manual trans in it. I know of a handful so far that have been done. Mick's old Turbo Brat, that I temporarily owned. RGuyver technically had this config but his was just MPFI I think. SuperRallyVovo? Currently working on something like this. My 83 Turbo wagon with be using an 88 RX 5spd trans. And now this one.
  20. I would try to get a used engine or have yours rebuilt by CCR. http://www.ccrengines.com
  21. This is still not resolved? Please create a new post in the Older Subaru Discussion for this. -Shawn
  22. Pretty easy. Box it up and send it to Kerry at Roobuilders. Find him via http://www.ccrengines.com. Free plug
