  1. No timing belt. No screw to hold the rotor on. My guess is the ign module in the distributor especially if its a Nippondenso Disty.
  2. that the 5spd would give you an advantage on the street for the ride home after 4wheeling but the 4spd would be just as good off road.
  3. Man that stinks, sounds like no fun. Did you try spinning it off FAST with an impact wrench? I can probably get you the cap, which side do you need? Ive got an 84 4wd parts car out front. Yes out front, yes my neighbors dont like it. No I don't really care. Im in a classy mood today!
  4. Post one it cant hurt. Okay it might hurt ME cuz im wicked stupid and might buy it.
  5. People were actually doing that, I would look on Google for it. Just find another Wagon donor car to get the whole strut assembly out of and swap em over. Have seen more than a few people put $2000 into these cars air systems. Struts, labor, alignment, etc are not cheap and its a dealer only part.
  6. I think you pretty much can't go wrong with much of anything as long as its strong and the odor isn't too nasty (your nose won't be far from whatever you leave on the surface). Simple Green would be my 1st choice. If it didnt work I would try a Citrus type cleaner...I work from weak to strong when cleaning interiors.
  7. I have driven a Turbo Brat with a 4spd Dual range tranny 3.90 installed. It drove it fine, and it held its own on hills really nicely. I am working on my wagon which is getting an RX FT4wd trans. Im not the first to do this and it should drive just about like an RX would have as the motor isn't much different power wise from an ea82t. You really can't go wrong with any of the Subaru 4wd manual transmissions, you just need to pick what kind of driving you plan to do with it. For highway I recommend a 3.70, for lots of city and 4x4'ing I think the 3.90 is better.
  8. 84 turbo wagon had a 1 piece shaft to start out with so he just had his lengthened. His wasn't FWD to start with, single range auto with 4wd.
  9. What year is it? Is it the turbo fuel injected one or the carb? "Won't start" is vague....will it crank and crank but never fire, or will the starter motor not turn....? More info would lead to a solution.
  10. I noticed you were wishing you had more than 1 pic of your old wagon on your website..... Old website pics were moved to http://photos.usmb.net Your pics within that site are here: http://usmb.net/gallery/albun07
  11. Hey guys I was in a crud of a mood when I posted this. My only point is that it irks me when people just post instead of using other methods. Here's my tip of the day. When the admin ticks you off, just say this to him in an email...... mh, if you don't know what that is take your right hand, palm facing you, and extend the finger that is the longest only. Then look at your hand and look at the letters and comma. Funny eh?! -Shawn
  12. Did you email him? He's usually pretty darn good about answering email. We aren't "cracking down" on ATTN posts but we are urging people to use alternatives. The board provides Private messaging and PK's site has his email address. Not trying to pick on you just using this as an example. His site mentions a core charge on the steering linkages so I would assume he wants it back unless he hasn't charged you a core. Maybe you bought the kit before the core charge was in place. -Shawn
  13. Its been done. The brat was lifted. Not much detail was provided but I had a picture of the under the hood stuff at one time.

  15. To try to help Paul out here. I am going to go digging in Ezboard looking for contact info that normal users might not have access to. Not much hope with that. Hope this works out, I don't like these situations much.

  17. Air Suspension and Automatic Transmissions can cost far more than they benefit on an older Legacy. Id get a nicely equipped L wagon with AWD and a 5 speed. These tend to be cheap. Maybe you need a Brat, I have an 87 that has been fixed up really nice for sale in the marketplace. Shawn
  18. Taking a bigger component out and extracting the part out of it seems to be a really good rule for Subaru's lately. Tonight I was parting out a car and only 1 of the 4 rear axle pins would come out. So what did I do? I took the one out....then I slid the inner end of the axle off thanks to the missing pin. Then I pounded the stub AND the axle out of the right side, and then I took the entire driveshaft, left rear axle, rear differential and left outer stub out as one huge piece. That allowed me to call it a night and put all the pieces on the garage floor and PB BLASTER the crap out of em. Maybe the pins will cooperate in the morning, or maybe I will just drill them out or something. So take the whole knuckle off, or take the control arm off and pound the balljoint out that way, etc. Maybe you have already done that. If so, holy cow that stinks. -Shawn
  19. Jack, How far would I have to drive in order for the delivery issues to be solved?
  20. I found both the cutting of the wagon and the 280zx alternator interesting before and came across this while searching today.
  21. Good set of eyes, patience, and a small pick or similar tool. Lay the side of your head up against the doorpanel and look behind the end of the crank up into the gap in the crank where you might be able to see the shiny clip. You are seeing the two tips of the clip when you look up in there usually and what you need to do is take the pick and push it against one side, on the end of the tip of one side of the clip and force it up and away. Then pull the crank off the end of the gear and catch the clip. Part out a few cars and you get good at it.
  22. Depends on whether or not you want the 89 Touring wagon more than your other current two, or if you could sell the touring wagon for more than the $300 after you went to PNP and put a few bucks in parts into it. Personally, if its just you driving them and you dont have the room to park them, its just a waste of time and energy to take care of cars you can't afford to drive or maintain. I think a focused effort on one of these 3 would be the best bet. I think you need to sell your gold wagon, lift the brat, and keep the turbo touring wagon for racing. You did ask! Shawn
