  1. That we should have adopted 100 years ago. Still bummed that I have to pick between the show and RallyX national championship.
  2. Join AWDPirates there is usually a "red rocks meet" every year but I haven't seen a posting yet.
  3. Anybody that has had their car broken into for the CDs or CD player will appreciate a simpler radio with aux jack and taking their ipod with them. I agree CD player is still nice its just not something I would invest in a car in 2010. Somebody posted in the last month a really nice basic radio they got at WalMart or something I will keep looking for that link.
  4. Id find a smaller radio that is shallow that just has the AUX input and toss some money at an Ipod or similar device. CD's are fast becoming obselete too.
  5. Ive done it its pretty straight forward. If you use a 2000 or later one you will need to route the rear o2 sensor wire forward to the back of the front cat by looping it over the trans in the tunnel and it will reach.
  6. Did the piston shatter that is on the seized rod? If so shatter it enough to get at it. If you can work the block to be open at the top or bottom like a V you can take the rods apart with a wrench one at a time till its not so frozen up. Done a lot of them unfortunately.
  7. If you take a part number off the distributor I think I would have it I have a box that is huge full of them. Not sure how to ship to Greece but I could have the post office help me or my wife could with her UPS account. Not exactly inexpensive to ship I bet but its not a huge box.
  8. Theres a lisle brand tool made speciifically for inner tie rod end. http://www.amazon.com/Lisle-45750-Inner-Tie-Tool/dp/B0002SRGFW
  9. LegacyMax's RallyCar engine swap is finally running thanks to Phil's (KingBobDole) careful eyes. Thanks again maybe this car won't be sitting much longer!
  10. None but there are a couple I would like to have back.
  11. 1. Dealer service techs are used to working on the newer Subarus but that doesnt limit their abilities, knowledge or experience. I did it for 2 years and while I agree many techs don't know squat about anything 1990 or older you can't make a wide statement for all of them. Its not only wrong but its rude and unnecessary. 2. I agree it could be a loud lifter tick but if it gets worse as the engine warms up and is driven harder its likely to be the rod bearing. 3. I just had the engine in my 2009 WRX replaced because the engine developed a rod bearing noise. Yes it was the rod bearing, yes I saw the crankshaft they took out of my old shortblock, and no it did not go thru the top of the block. Again, exaggerated by you. People that listen to their engine, hear a strange noise and shut it off before it tosses the rod thru the case are out there and I saw numerous ones at the dealership. Verified thru teardown and visable damage to the rod bearing itself. This motor could make it over the mountain but why would you risk it. Get a tow rope, tow truck, or fix the engine on the side of the mountain that it is currently on if possible. Why ruin an engine that could be rebuilt.
  12. Looks like a Lazy Boy on the end of the seat looks like it would hold your feet up. Nice work!
  13. Im not convinced there would be any adjustment without some "rigging" the factory instructions for installation just say to install them.
  14. Doesnt seem to matter much on mine.
  15. I have seen 1 that had an air suction or EGR type of system I can't remember what so make sure there isn't any piping going to the head on the 1.8 that the 2.2 doesnt have holes drilled for. The cam and crank gears here on USDM cars are all identical on the ej18 and ej22 engines.
  16. Right now my wagon has an EJ22 Turbo crossover pipe running above the crossmember (turbo), and then it has a 2 in 1 out cat about half way down the car next to the tranny from there its 2.25 back to the stock ea81 muffler and out. The muffler will be next to go just ran out of money then to do a nice muffler or resonator.
  17. Basically my new version of the harness when I am done you don't know if its an auto or a manual harness originally aside from being able to tell the ECM number and reference it that way. Otherwise I de-pin the whole thing of anything related to a transmission its just an engine harness if done right IMO. But what I am saying is you need to find the key plugs and cut virtually everything else off to begin the harness if you sit there trying to identify each plug and what it was for you will be there for a week or more.
  18. I just did this for $95 and it goes WAY high like almost dangerously. I need new jack stands as the standard ones max out below what the jack is capable of too! Love it. I can get a trans under the car now.
  19. Or if its an Impreza use 93 model year axles.
  20. They share the same 5x113 bolt pattern but often don't fit each other (Tribeca/STI). I believe one has a thicker wheel stud, one has brake clearance issues with another, and honestly they don't look that good on each other either. The SVX uses special lug nuts on its wheels with a washer thing built in as well.
  21. A rod knock will get worse as it warms up. It will not knock for a second cold and then go away. I think you have a timing belt tensioner that somebody compressed in a vice too fast and blew the seal out on.
  22. What does the brand of oil have to do with a piston slap or knocking noise again?!? Weight might but certainly not brand!
  23. I would like to see substancial evidence of the ghostwalking before we bash too much here. That era outback is about the best they ever made. The 02-04 VDC H6 cars also do it IMO but I don't see it as negative. With good snow tires and common sense I don't see the ghostwalking occuring at all. I have driven a bunch of them on snow and ice and I can see how people think the car is stepping out but its actually the rear differential and VDC trying to get traction on a slick surface and then giving up when both wheels spin. My WRX does it when I have my summer tires on with icy conditions but doesnt do it with the snow tires on as bad if at all. Any car with the VDC system is going to do it and its doing its job. Tires, speed and driving abilities have a huge factor here.
  24. Subaru does have the ability to create a freeze frame when the car runs and drives with its Select Monitor 3 but they can't pull a flash of what it was doing but once its dead. There are 2 exceptions to this but there isn't any need to go into those details they won't affect anybody. Also want to add that it might come across as me picking on a user in this thread and I mean nothing by it I just couldn't help but quote a couple things and ellaborate.
  25. You can still add a Temp gauge its not like these cars crossed some line in the sand where an aftermarket gauge couldn't be mounted somewhere. Not on the pillar anymore (airbags) but clever people can do this. Its just a matter of an electronic sending unit, a wire and a gauge mounted somewhere. The light is pretty cool as its a definitive IM HOT indicator not some hmmm im getting warm sort of thing. Pegged and a RED hot light are two pretty similar things but the majority of people will notice the red light faster than a gauge pointed up.
