Suberdave- I've been thinking about taking the RX to some of the Boeing practice days just for fun. (I don't know when they are yet) Let me know if you want to come sometime, we could have a family reunion of sorts!
  4. It's callen an Ignition Impulse Amplifier. It is just a tranisitor.
  5. Personally, I would just stick to the JY unit (get a spare if you're worried about it). You should probably get one anyways to make sure that it is the culprit. I don't know much about them, but it seems possible to get the gain wrong on the amplifier if you're not careful. I'm not sure what consequenses that would have. If you go for the project, let me know if you need any wiring diagrams for the soob.
  6. Me too. Also, the coil bracket serves as a ground so I would make sure it's nice and clean and tightly attached.
  7. Well...that wasn't exactly what I had been waiting for, but it was still fun. I felt that the competitors and organizers did a great job of responding to the situation. On the plus side, I met a lot of people who had never been to a rally before and we had running water and hot food. They ran through part of the campground which sort of simulated a "real" stage road, though the turns were really tight through the trees so speeds were low. Anybody know when Doo Wop is suppost to be?
  8. I'm a bit confused on this...when you pulled #3 it ran worse? If so, wouldn't that suggest that #3 is the good cylinder and there are problems with #1,2, and 4?
  9. I'll be there saturday helping set up at the ORV park and running radios on the Dayton stage. I can't wait for rally time!!!
  10. Well...I was really excited for the rallyx, but my sedan has decided to leak oil out of the turbo housing. I'm going to try to swap in the turbo from my wagon after work tomarrow, wish me luck! I might stop by and check out the festivities even if I don't get her running.
  11. Any brat or hatchback, and GL wagons from '80 to '84.
  12. you can consider this information verified....that's my friends car...he's got some "issues" around 5k rpm anyways, congrats! not to mention the fact that you have about 1000lbs on them anyways!!! I was going to go to see if I could break 100 with my stock 88 GL-10, but opted for the rallyX instead
  13. Single digit codes are model specification. According to my 88 FSM, 08 for a SPFI means California model w/ AT.
  14. I forgot to add....I would turn my '82 GL wagon into the worlds sweetest lawnmower. I would add a second driveline out the back of the diff to turn the blades. I would drive it to all of the high dollar charity events I would be attending, and I would get designer gowns custom made in harvest beige. For my '86 wagon that I wrecked last year, I would completely rebuild it so it was perfect. Infact, it would be so perfect that it could be my indoors car, since my house would be so big that you had to have a subaru to get around. Obviously, it would be able to climb my spiral staircases. I think I would chrome my entire '88 GL wagon. I would drive it everywhere I went, and I would have my assistant's assistant hire me a shiner. My shiner would sit in the backseat until the car was parked, and then he would polish like crazy. Infact, I might just hire one of thoes crazy shoe shiner guys to be my shiner. I would go cliche on my '81 wagon and make it a sleeper, though I would drop in an EJ20TT not the EJ257. I would install a rice cooker in the cargo bay, and power it off of exhaust and rain water. On nights when I feel mischevious, I would throw sticky rice at the ricers and then outrun them. For my '88 GL-10 twagon, I would invent marbel-like WRC-colored gel-caps of nitrous and feed them to the intake via a hopper. I would keep them in a cookie jar that said 'Scooby Snacks' on it, and I would install a stereo that would only play the Fun Lovin' Criminals. I think I would keep my sedan pretty much as-is with just a few mods that I'm planning to do anyways. Though I would create a bullet-proof glass vault for it that sinks down under the driveway with a push of a button . It would be a cross between the vault that holds the constitution and the elevators on an aircraft carrier. ...but I would live my life in sorrow, because all I've ever really wanted was a brat...
  15. based on some quick calculations, the number density of us bills is 14.512 bills per cubic inch....now, who knows the cargo capacity of an EA82 wagon (is 5 significant figures too much to ask for?) Then we can slap a number down, and compare it to the GNP...or better yet, the deficit...or the cost of the war in Iraq...
  16. Seriously! I think I'm going to be asking Santa for some rally tires this christmas...
  17. Well, it looks like my rain dance didn't work, but I'll be going anyways!
  18. haha...well it turns out I am commuting via subaru. There are lots of subarus on the Ferry, but I'm not sure if it's a higher percentage than the general seattle population. Usually I'm the only old subie on the whole boat.
  19. Thought somebody might be interested: http://www.kitoautosport.com/ $20/ hook up plus $10 per pull!
  20. Thanks for the update, I hadn't heard about that yet. Though now we can go to WW and to subiefest!
  21. My '88 GL-10 sedan has a type of utility carpet over a 1/4" felt pad on the floor and moulded carpet on the sides and fenders.
  22. 88 GL-10 turbo sedan with 243K, 5spd FT4WD around town: typically 22-24 mpg freeway normal: 26ish mpg freeway driving like grandma: 31 mpg 86 GL n/a wagon (hitachi carb) with d/r 4WD: always 25-28 mpg
  23. I have a known good coil bracket/transistor that you can borrow for diagnostic purposes. I'll be in seattle on tuesday if you'll be around mid-day.
