Which motor would be in this?
benebob replied to LostWater's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I think this boat was on before with a closer pic. (might have been another one though) I think it had an 82 on it if I remember correctly. -
Just keep gas in her in the future. Next time the alternator will go when it runs out of gas
-
Yeah, I assumed he had spark as it was starting and running when pushed. No he didn't change the one in the engine compartment as it is impossible to find outside of the dealer or Napa. Should've know as he's running an Accel coil. They seem to last a year for most people although mine is like 4 years old now but I always have a spare.

I've found that fantastik does a great job considering it is CHEAP and a good grease cutter. Not sure what he used here but for an engine bay, esp a white engine bay it works wonders.

Yeah it has 'em. Round dough nut looking things.

I'm posting for Hocrest who is w/o internet for the weekend. He ran out of gas yesterday in his BRAT. It now won't restart. He put an aftermarket pump in it as he wasn't getting gas at the return and put a new fuel filter in as well. It is getting gas at the carb just fine when he goes to crank but it won't fire. Plugs are wet but still no fire. It'll start by pushing it and run at an idle fine. When he goes to drive it though it'll die (like it is running out of gas in about a block). The pump was for an EA-82 from Advance. Any ideas what the cause may be? It doesn't make much sense to me.

Really it doesn't have one huh? I know in the SVX it goes back under the carpet to behind the rear seat and then across to the fuel side then loops around so I would think it would work just fine in the rear of a Ha-Ha. I still have the cable down stairs from our race car I think if you want it paypal me some shipping and you can have it. Not sure if its worth it though as you'll be tearing a lot out just to run it back there!

Umm.. There really isn't anything. With some brain power and work though you can adapt stuff to fit.

Yeah Gary, Keith is right on the button. I had a 94 Impreza L wagon 1.8 for about 80k and 2 years. Averaged in the mid 20s. GREAT engine never had a single issue with her. It is a little less powerful than the 2.2 but really not that much. I think it is about a sec off on 0-60 times. What's your fasination with the OS? I love the look of the wagon w/o the 2 tone look. The 1.8 engines are a dime a dozen in the two pull a parts up here. Nice low mileage wrecks. The 2.2 is a little harder to find low mileage.

Went to help out Subieman90 yesterday with his new GL. IT IS GORGEOUS!!! He had the coil go and take out the disto as well. It now has a 4wd auto disto in it (its a 5 speed fwd). It has spark, it has gas but won't start. It almost wants to catch at the end of the starter motor running but doesn't. I'm not familar at all with the C-W but the only thing I can see is that the butterfly choke doesn't shut very far to start it. Can manually shut it all the way but don't know if it should be shut or not. It was 100 degrees here yesterday so my guess is it should've at least fired up. Even nothing when shooting carb cleaner or gas down there. My thought is his distributor is in 180 off but when I replaced my brats a few years back it would still run at 180 although poorly. Neither of us have a timing light and I try to stay away from such things as much as possible b/c I just don't understand it all but is there a good way to check if this is the issue w/o a light and to get it where it needs to be w/o removing the valve cover as again that's an area I don't really understand if I'm where I should be or not. Thanks for the expert advise! Once we can get it up and running he'll take her to a mechanic to have the timing figured out but doesn't wanna pay if it isn't the problem... All the fuses, and links are fine, anything else it might be as it has spark, it has gas, it only has 53k on it so compression should be just fine.

Our 03 recommended it at 1000 if driving in severe conditions. Which in the US unless you live on a farm without dust in Iowa is virtually everyplace according to Subaru. Keep in mind that the books are written by people who sell cars and want to sell more (planned obsolecence) plus you must also remember that in most cases that oil has already been in the car for nearly a year by the time it is delivered.

Very much out of line. When I bought my SVX I climbed in the back (with a compound fractured ankle and my 6'1" frame. I was able to sit back there with a decent amount of head room, enough leg room to sit there for about 20 minutes provided the drive was 5'8" or less. Why don't you try that in every other Coupe out there (including the Accord and Solara). You'll be munching on those words. Practical?? Probably not for a family of 4 but I've had 4 adults in it going to breakfast and the like. I don't have much need for a backseat. If I do, I have no problems taking another car. As for all you hybrid fans. Sure it is a great concept BUT here are the facts. Research it if you don't believe me but it is all true. I'll use the Prius as the example. 1. You would have to drive 150k in the city (of course not on hot days either otherwise you'll be running that AC) to even out the cost savings from buying it rather than a Toyota Echo (which is nearly as large in every catagory except rear seat width and cargo area). Assuming you can go that far in a city w/o the ac in less than 10 years time your batteries should make it and not have to be recycled, if not then you'll have to go to about 270k to reach the same cost (assuming batteries cost what Toyota predicts they will in 10 years). 2. The polution in manufacture and disposal of the added batteries is equal to that of another .3 cars being manufactured (1st set of batteries that is). 3. The added weight of the vehicle (about 300lbs) translates into more road damage over the life of the vehicle so it results in more oil being needed in the replacement and maintainance of roads. 4. Your safer in that toy Echo due to added velocity, poorer braking and poorer handling. Don't get me wrong, it is at least a step in the right direction, but from an enviromental standpoint and financial standpoint the car makers and oil companies are laughing their way to the bank all while convincing you your helping the problem not insisting that true alternative sources be found.

1. Fit and finish sucks (hood isn't aligned right, doors are off, steering wheel was way off etc) 2. Orange peel that would make a 80s gm car jealous 3. No working radio from new. 4. Pass side mirror already replaced b/c it faded 5. Transmission shifts like a J-10 jeeps, Oh yeah thats the second one. Need to make an appointment for the 3rd 6. Clutch shutters worse than my Brat's did with a quart a week rear main seal leak. Need I go on, I'm tired of typing. Sure, I'm anal, but then again, if itsn't right why shouldn't I be and it isn't just ours that is a bad example, I could go to your dealership tomorrow and pick out more issues on American made Subies than their Japanese counterparts. What'cha doing on Sunday anyways? Wanna come see a bad a$$ SVX race at Park City? We'll probably be racing around 12ish-3ish. Feel free to stop down, it is gonna be behind Sears service center. I know you won't be disappointed with the SVX:brow:

Yip our GT is the only car we own with cupholders. Its a darn shame too as it is supposed to be a "performance" version. My advise, buy the Bmmer, Amercian Subaru's suck for quality and now they're asking $29k for a GT. At least with the Bmmer you'll get people who look at it and say its a nice car simply because its a Bmmer, you won't get that for driving a subaru, no matter how much you pay.

Not quite there on your logic. As someone who worked for the Real Manheim Auto Auction for a few years I kinda got a real good understanding of rebates and their effects on the industry. Your flaw is forgetting that we live in a cheap society today. Why do you think people put up with crappy wal marts on every corner that bring us sweatshop stuff? IT IS CHEAP! Once rebates like this start coming out it is a trap. The brands are no longer able to sell w/o making the buying public think they are getting a better deal then their neighbor. In reality, GM vehicles are selling for just about the same price as they were in April. They just are on a scheme that has the publics attention. After Aug 1st when the scheme disappears how many people do you think will look at a GM product for the next 4 months? Absolutely no one since it isn't worth buying at that point so GM will continue the cycle they've been stuck in since 9-11. Long term it actually hurts the company but for the bottom line it is good today. What they really need to do is either make less cars or make more cars that people are willing to buy for said price. Oh yeah, I wasn't talking about the depriciation of the Snob but rather of the Vibe. Currently a 1st year vibe is worth about 2/3rd of the worth of a similar matrix.
