Hi everyone, Just finishing up a motor swap on my 1994 Legacy Turbo. The engine is re-installed and all the electrical connections are back together. I didn't remove the old engine, so I don't know where to re-connect to vaccum lines. If someone was able to take some pictures of their engine bay, detailing where they start and finish, it would be a huge help. Thanks very much in advance. Dave

Hi Everyone, I've got a 2003 WRX with 124,000 kms that I've owned for two years. As stated in the title, twice this summer on very hot days I noticed faint amounts of water vapor coming from the vents. I don't typically use the the Air Conditioning on anything but the hottest days so I put it down the compressor being a little overworked. I noticed the same thing last night when running the defrost. I didn't see the mist, but my windshield was fogging. Thanks very much for any help. Dave

It seems that later generations of Subaru 2.5s are succeptible to headgasket failure as well. SOHC Phase 2 ej 2.5s (2000- current) are also known to fail. The 2.5 turbos have been around long enough now that they are reaching higher mileages. Many owners are reporting headgasket failures around the 100k mark. Take the good with the bad I guess

Hi Guys, I've got a 93 AWD Impreza with a 2001 legacy gt engine swap running on the 1.8 liter ecu. The car has been running really well until today. It turned over but showed no signs of starting. I don't think it's cold enough up here yet for water to have frozen in the lines. It will run on quick-start for a few seconds before quitting. Would the fuel pump be the most likely culprit? Can I run-down any other possibilities before removing the tank? It exhibited no other symptoms until today. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave

Hey, I've been doing alot of searching and am hoping to bounce some things of the more experienced swappers in here. I've got a 93 impreza 1.8 awd imprezaL. The 1.8 has finally given up at 285,000. I bought a 2001 legacy gt engine to replace it. The new engine didn't come with a computer or harness. I'm trying to decide if I should: a) Use the 1.8 harness. Which some people seem to have done with some success Use a loose 2.2 harness and computer that I already have I've read about several people running into problems with the timing being too advanced with the 1.8. Will the engine run better enough for me to justify all the work associated with running the 2.2 harness? I've heard that after you swap manifolds and intakes. The 2.2 harness will run the 2.5 quite well. Any input or wisdom would be greatly appreciated

Have you considered a drop in oil pressure as being the culprit? I heard similiar noises coming from the engine in my 1.8 impreza. I traced the noise to the valves. It might be worthwhile to have them tested. The 'dummy' light will only alert you when pressure drops below 5 p.s.i. A test with a pressure guage might be an idea.

Hey everybody, I've got a question about my 97 legacy outback. 94,000 miles. headgaskets not done. I've noticed some gunk in my coolant catch tank recently that looks alot like rock salt. I cant think of a better way to describe it. It hasn't lost any coolant and I went as far as having it checked for oil contamintion. It was fine. Any idea of what this could be? It's every phase 1 2.5 owners first impulse to assume the worst, any insight would be great. Thanks, Dave

I'm taking the car back to have the code read tommorow. I'm hearing what sounds like piston slap on start-up. I goes away as the engine warms up to operating temp. I've read that a rattling heat shield can cause the sensor to detect engine knock? Mine's rattling away so ill do that and see what happens. If I remove the timing belt cover would I be able to see a loose tensioner? Thanks for the replies Dave

Hey, I have a 97 legacy outback 2.5 auto with a CEL. I had the code read, replaced knock sensor. Light went off for 3 days and is now back on. The car has 87,000 miles on it and was running really nicely with the new sensor. This is super disappointing. Any advice for investigating the cause of the problem would be great. Thanks, Dave

Thanks for the replies. I should have mentioned that the leak is on the driver's side. Where exactly is the fuel pump? How do I access it? By neck I guess you mean the filler neck? It's pretty clean as far as I can tell. Another thing I've heard mentioned is the sending unit access door? I pulled the rear seat out. I can see a rubber grommet with lines going through them on each side. Are those what I'm looking for? Thanks for the replies Dave

Hey, I have a 93 awd legacy with a fuel leak. Fuel is running down one line from above the tank. It looks like It will have to be removed. Any advice for removal? I've searched and it looks like I'll have to remove the driveshaft, exhaust and the rear cross-member. Is that right? Any advice on how to proceed would be great. Thanks very much Dave

Hey, I have a 1993 impreza with the 1.8. I'm trying to remove the timing belt cover to access the oil pump. I've had no luck so far removing the crank pulley. The engine is out of the car. I have a long breaker bar on the crank bolt and and second one one of the cam bolts and haven't been able to break it. Should I just keep at it? Or is there a better way? Thanks, Dave

Hey, I have a question for the swap gurus. I have a 2001 legacy gt engine that I'm getting ready to put into a 93 Impreza wagon. I did not get a computer or harness for with the engine. I've found a 99 RS harness and ECU for sale on my local board. The RS harness is complete and from a SOHC engine. Does anyone know if the plugs on the legacy engine harness will match up? I realize that this isn't ideal but I'm kind of stuck. Thanks for any advice Dave

Hey, I have a 2001 legacy gt engine that I'm preparing to install in my 93 Impreza. I've noticed a bit of oil in the spark plug tube. I understand that there is a boot that can fall down? Can anyone tell me what this part is called? I'm hoping to order it and replace it before the weekend. Thanks, Dave
