Untitled by Kevin Talley, on Flickr So today I am putting on some 2wd front struts! Hopefully it will make the front end ride a little better.

Yeah they are abit shorter not by much but every little bit counts mine are out of an 86 GL-10 -
So over the weekend we pulled the motor and replaced the Headgaskets. After we got it all back in and back together we went to fire it and it won't turn over. We are fairly confident it will just need the valves adjusted Hopefully getting back on it in the next few days.

I went about 3 maybe 4 splines I forget off the top of my head.. we ripped the bump stops off and I have about an inch of clearance. I used Checy LUV rear shocks to replace the stock ones. they are about 3 1/2 inches shorter with 5 about 5 inches of travel. We just had to remove the bushing and put the OEM bushings in those shocks which was a pain in the rump roast but worth it. The front isn't horrible with the 2wd front struts and I cut about 2 coils off. It's not the most comfortable ride but sacrifeces in comfort must be made for the low ha http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/135143-my-79-brat-build/ here is the link to my build thread. -

Help please..brat will not turn off :(
Kevint143 replied to waldoz's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
The gentleman that I bought it from hooked up a kill switch to the anti dieseling switch which works but isn't ideal when I put the weber on I bought the anti dieseling switch for it as well. When its running a buddy of mine unplugged everything under the hood and the only thing that would turn it off was when he unplugged the wire set that goes into the backside of the alternator. I have also swapped the ignition completely and with the new ignition it wouldn't kill it as well. -

Waldoz if you see this I have owned the brat for about a year now. Thank you for doing such an awesome job on the rust repair! But the ignition still won't turn the car off! -

I paid 50 for mine after a core return from O'Reilly's did you check on that? also try Rockauto.com I saw some on that page! -
So We got it all primed and some dents knocked out. Played with the torsion bars a bit waiting probably til next week to pull the motor.

A day shot and after my blow out a few weeks back I thought I lost my mudflap. I walked along the highway and found it while we were waiting for help to arrive and today I discovered the mounting bracket was still attacked just bent to hell so I twisted it all back and got it mounted back on!
-
We got the torsion bars all figured out and got the rear end tucked away last night! now to even the front with the back. the bottom of my exhaust is sitting about 5 1/2 inches off the ground and the body is about 7 inches or so just a tad bit higher than a beer can

Today we got the first Coat of Apline Green done on the BRAT. I decided to keep the hood and roof black. We started adjusting the Torsion Bars but ran out of day light and broke a few bolt heads so that will happen tomorrow. We also painted the wheels white to give them a better look!

Looks good! What are your plans for this brat?
