The 2001 Outback that I had suffered from warped rotors more than once. 2000 Outbacks were worse as the disk were even smaller than 2001. If the steering wheel shakes/wobbles and/or the vibration gets worse when you slowly apply the brakes that could be you problem. If it is the front disks, turning them only serves as a temporary fix, it comes back quickly. I ended up putting higher carbon disks in the front and semi metallic pads all around to solve the problem I was having. With most wheel/tire issues the front vibration is felt more in the steering wheel, if it's the seat of your pants it could be in the rear.

These types of rails appear different from the North American market, although a quick google.au search turned up these: www.whispbar.com.au The rails on your model look closer to what's on the Outback Touring here which use Thule rack mounts and a few other aftermarket ones. These are the Thule ones on our 2017 Touring model that came with the car as an option.

Sometimes dealers and private sellers keep key fobs to sell, It's possible the seller didn't realize that the key didn't work the doors because they always used the key fob. I bought a used car at a dealership once (not Subaru - as if it makes a difference) and got 1 fob. When I balked at purchasing a 2nd one for $60 from them I argued they should supply 2 since the car originally came with 2. The used car salesman took a few minutes and mysteriously "found" the other one that had been "misplaced". I think he got nervous when I started to complain a bit and got spooked that the manager would get involved only to find out he pocketed the other one.

Our 2017 OB Touring with eyesight uses the small paddles on the steering wheel (lower left) to scroll through the display in between the tachometer and speedometer. /Mini-Rant/ Speaking of salesman, as the cars get more involved I find it annoying that some just don't take the time to read up and educate themselves on functionality and options of what they are selling. I taught my sales person how to program the keyless remotes to move the drivers seat to the programmed position of each one. Our remotes move the driver's seat to the wife's or my setting when using to corresponding remote unlock the doors. The sale person had no idea and at first told me that it didn't do that. You'd think that have some spare time when sitting around waiting for the next sale. /Mini-Rant/

On the MY17 I have, there are several default settings you can change using the display switch and paddle set on the steering wheel that are shwon on the cluster display. The changeable ones are noted in the owners manual. I don't want to suggest changing things using my 2017 instructions b/c I know they updated eyesight almost every model year. I'd check your 2015 manual first.

2017 Outback Touring (which we love BTW) that's equipped with the rear back up and side collision sensors. This includes the blind spot detection lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert and reverse automatic braking. I have an installed trailer hitch on it and thinking about buying a cargo basket to haul extra travel trip items, the lawn mower and other dirty power equipment when needed. I also have a 4x8 utility trailer I occasionally use as well, maybe once a year but have yet to use it with this Subie. A carrier would be much easier to use for smaller items. Does anyone have first hand experience on what this does to the sensors? I'm assuming I need to shut them off the temporarily while using the carrier? I'm OK with shutting them down, but I'm hoping the blind spot sensors will still work because I'd really miss them. TIA.

This is the Code Alarm brand keyless remote and requires the GOH-M24 key fob to lock and unlock the doors. Those are DIP switches inside that "program" the unit. This is an old way of keeping programing in a circuit board, think modern day Flash RAM as a descendant. They do not control functions and if you change them from original positions the unit will not function.

The '00 had smaller front disk brakes and suffered from rotor warp more than the '01 on which had larger fronts. through '03 there were issues with the 2.5 head gaskets seeping oil. Not a big deal but they tend to smell a bit after a longer haul. You just have to do regular oil level checks. -
My daughter lives on a narrow street and the drivers mirror was knocked off. It's hanging by the wire for the adjustment Motor. It looks like there is a bracket held onto the mirror shell by 3 screws. The bracket has snapped but looks like I can replace the bracket itself by removing the broken part from the mirror and pulling the blank off inside and removing the rest, without buying a whole mirror. Is this possible, or should I just look for the whole mirror assembly? Anybody have a spare to sell? Feel free to pm me.

Not sure about the alternator, you can cross reference the part numbers and see if they match. A couple of things you can check on the heating issues: Replace the old radiator cap with a new Stant cap. Replace the thermostat with a ginuine Subaru one NOT aftermarket. If you even think the antifreeze is old or diluted, drain it and put fresh in when you change out the thermostat.
