My EX-GF had Horses+HAY and would park the car IN the HAY Barn-{You guys see where i"m going with this } and let it sit 2-4days then get in an drive to town and then call me 1/2hr.later bit*&en about the stench-duh!!! Ofear,I think I"d love the smell of burning oil over mouse piss any day{Hey at least YOU KNOW where the oil is coming from !!} Unlike mouse piss in which you have to dismantle the whole damn car to find a little nest-I HATE MICE !!! I got a 87wgn for $75.00 Super clean 1owner 112k had been sitting for 12 yrs. Bad HGs,I opened the door and OH MY GWAD Disgusting SIC!!BARF got the car home and gutted it...I scubbed the crap out of it pressure washed it to no advail could not get rid of the stench so it got parted I HATE MICE!!!

Have you measured it? You should do it on gravel-drive it straight for about 8-10feet and check it. You cannot do it on the cement because of the tires binding so it has to be on something that gives so you get a more acct.reading...Wait you just said it"s toed out?? If it"s out it should wear the inside of the tires not outside edge

A new Rack?? Can you see it bent,,is it binding up,,inner tie rod loose?? I"ve only had a few issues w/bad manual racks in the old 1s and that was from kids treating it like it was a damn supercross truck w/20"s of travel jumping it or a bad accident from the side...I"ve seen em hit curbs and be fine but other stuff bent....I used to keep spare rt.+lft.control arms w/radius rods for my EX GFs car-she"d wack it a couple of times through thru the wintertime {Hence Spares} Now what I could"nt figure out was how in THEE HELL She would do the left side !!!

My Loyales TOD is very minimal and only does it at 1st start of the day till oil press.hits so i"m not worried about it..I resealed everything except the cam towers and it"s NOT Leaking and I don"t have the time so i"ll wait till he decides to leak to fix!!{I"m not lookin for work!} I"ve learned if the TOD is BAD I"ll go get new lifters and be done with it { I HATE DOING Things Twice-Waste of MY Time!!} Plus i"m waiting for the HGs to go 190k since I don"t know if they"ve been done or not...

Then the investigation began-they chewed it in such fashion that I would've had to replace the whole harness frt.2back so I sold it for 1500. to a friend of mine-he knew about it and had time to fix it and did!! He was happy camper for 8yrs.till some idiot ran a red light an t-boned it

I looked at the sanbar van on the dyno-BADA** 14HP-23#s torque I would"ve like to seen the RPMs too It sounded like 6-7000!!! WAY COOL!!!

Hey mikaleda, I"ve been doing alignments{frt end work} for 30yrs.and the Subies run High Positive camber 1+-2+ -From the gen1s thru the Loyales it"s just the way they did it..Maybe the work station was crooked an showed Neg camb.but there is no real way to fix it short of slotting the holes on the top[strut tower] I don"t do that on Subies though Dodge Neons,Chevy Cavaliers,Fords,It"s on [w/owners permission]!!Your stuff looks OK to me from what I can see of pics.The reason it"s wearing so bad on the rt. is the crown of the road-the center of road is higher than the rt.edge is so it makes the rt. tire wear harder-push...really all you can do is set toe at 5/64ths in and rotate the tires every 4-5000mi.a pain but it"ll help save your tires!! When I build lift kits I make the strut top 1-1/2 to2Neg camber to compensate for the +pos.camb. and it comes out zero to 1/4-1/2+pos.cam. Good Luck Nate

Good morning all, Well the T.O.D. issue seems to be never ending EH? I"m lucky I guess-my 90 Loy. starts it"s T.O.D. when it wants it"s oil changed luckly it"s about 26-2700 mi.so thats ok w/me.It does it"s little t.o.d.in the morning at 1st start-it goes up to 1700rpm then I kick it and it goes down to 1100 rpm for the rest of it"s warm up{spfi} I"ve seen posts on here about cold starts at 2500 again i"m lucky I rescued my car from the JY{it was going out to pasture} leaking oil like a sieve 2 emptys in back I thought mtr. was toast but it ran good so I saved it-167k on it when I got it now 191k resealed it{no cam towers yet} I use 20-50 oil all the time{due to daily Flogging } But my friends DD 91Loy had T.O.D.from day1 he got it 116k drove it 4yrs.till it threw a rod 243k{not afirm believer in oil changing he is} I put a mtr.in it and he drove it another 3yrs.till the trans died{ring&pin}315k and scrapped it{nothin worth keepin at that point } But I believe the luck of the draw-some have T.O.D. an some don"t I saw 1 w/68k w/T.O.D.clean car, owner was fed up,I bought it $500. did lifter swap and sold it {I don"t do auto4xs}!!

Alllrriigghhttyy now that I stopped laughing {My dogs lookin at me like I"ve lost it} I"m fortunate enough to have Snap-on stuff But have had the Unfortunate dealings w/HF STUFF? I"m being nice here...I know everybody can"t afford to step on the truck{snap-on} and most peple like craftsman-which I suggest people buy-it"s affordable and the warranty is good! As for me though I"ve just been doing it to long and am used to snap-on stuff Soooo...My HF stuff is very little..The good; The little hand torch-I"ve had that thing for 10yrs.,Killer for heat shrink {and lighting a smoke} Next up is the 20ton press,after making a new stands for it {the table and the press part-slider,heavier steel and straight} it"s actually lived for 8yrs.now with plenty of abuse from more things than Subies 1 pair of big jackstands-had to replace the rollpins in the locks huh!! Now the Bad&Ugly; 4-1/2"grinders 1st one lasted 1/2hr-just DIED=physically threw that out the door w/grindwhl.on still 2nd lasted 10min-head stripped out huh 3rd1 mtr quit SOOOO I took the head off 3rd1 an put on 2nd1 right?that lasted a 1/2hr.needless to say those 2 joined It"s buddy out in the driveway!!!! My buddy had my good 1 at that time 20mi.away!!! Next up is ALL THE grinding wheels they have HF,Norton,any cheapo disc made out there JUNK!!!! YOURS AND ANYBODIES SAFTEY IS FIRST!!! Three for a $1.00 is NOT worth it!!! I only use 3M stuff it"s $$$but worth it and last waayyy longer and does a nicer JOB!! The Grinders were given to me {I know better than to buy that crap!!!} If I had bought them I would"ve thrown em thru HFs frt. window {like the discount tire comm.} Now my buddy bought their meters-Now that was 10min later took it back got another1 then he threw it out in the street an said f**k that garbage after I told him not to buy it-And he called me a smarta** for saying so!! I don"t play the toolbox or bag game anymore....lugging a Fifty # box full of tools 1/2 a blk. to the yard Sucks Plus the theives try to walk off with your wheelbarrow while your under the car {eeesss mine bro}that happened twice to me not a third though {pistol=deterrant }=eeess cool bro,so for the last 5-6 yrs.,I"ve put on my backpack-I can lay out my tools inside the car i"m working on{raping parts off of} and be safe and use the barrow for my parts!!The backpacks the cats meow for scouting parts-you can pull parts stash em an come back w/barrow!!! My cars safe {I have DOGs for an alarm sys.} you will have to shoot them before you get in I admit the pack does get heavy on the back but SOOO much easier!!!

Welcome,I"ve been through Nebraska and seen some gen1&2 Subies! I used to call the gen1s UGLY BAS**RDS {I had 1 back then} Now I call them OLD BAS**RDS since they are old BUT Man they are Damn good cars&4whlers-they don"t get stuck!!!! The blizzard of "82" I put chains on mine and NEVER got stuck in that storm!!! Keep em going!!!

OIL LEAKS??? What Oil Leaks??? All I see is a little seeping [nothing] and some dirt-dust A little car wash action and that thing will look brand new and if it does have A leak you"ll find it easier!! I"ll show you guys a OIL LEAKS-my buddies caravan is outlawed from parking in my driveway It leaks Over A Quart A day-TRANS,POW STR.,MTR.,He parks in front of my neighbors house {IT"S outlawed from in frt. of my house!!} an it sits for 2-3hrs. an leaves a 2ft.x1-1/2ft. PUDDLE of oil on the street He won"t quit drivin it long enough for me to fix it- Worker van He spends 15-20min.every morning putting oil in it for the day It"s stupid I"ve gotten to the point of it being funny now

I thought I saw that you got a wire harness off of a xt-6?? I don"t think that will work unless you need some plugs or parts....I think the ea-81turbo is more or less by itself when it comes to parts,ecu,maf......Aslo I saw that you had 2 distys and 1 was points do you want to trade or sell it?? I remember the ski wgns. here in Denver,Co. BURT SUBARU used to sponser them..I tried to get my dad to get a wgn. instead the sedan 83 {I had a 77 4x wgn.at the time} I used for camping but he didn"t want 1 ...The only reason he bought a Subie was because of mine {I wish I had it now } Thats how SUBIES got noticed was the ski team and then owwie {audi} had to pop up and took Subies thunder w/more pwr.{5cyl.}4whl.drv.leather int.more comfort blah,blah,Subies were more utilitarian than pretty {they WORK} but the options I do remember specific on the pre-83s were they had JACKMAN WHLS.{straight spoke}on them and the ski team stickers w/roof racks for skis....other than that they were fully loaded Subies...

I"ve had my share of rusty cars luckly I was fortunate enough to get them as they were without the RED-GREEN rust repair {It"s a TV show out of Canada-FUNNY} I had a 81 4x wgn. that got so bad the doors would"nt close if it wasn"t on level ground-I killed the body 10 yrs.ago but the mtr.is still going strong {380,000mi} and I"m lookin for another body again since the current 1 is also rustin away FUN FUN!!!

It looks like any higher an it won"t fit in the garage My buddy lifted his blazer in the garage-[restored] {got all done a yr. later ALL EXCITED to drive it and SH&t!!! It was stuck in the garage !!! Well 2 hrs. and a 12pack later {had to take it out on 4 floorjacks-stock tires were still to tall} We were pissed at the time but look back now an it"s funny as hell!!!
