Sophia will never be the same. Hurry with this project so we can go off-roading.

floorboard insulation source?

Leave the fur on. That's what creates the sound deadening. -

Has anyone replaced a windsheild?
northguy replied to Suborsche's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
What you want is a tube of urethane sealant. Cut the tip of the nozzle off so you have a small hole, Put the tip in a vise and smash it flat. That will allow you to seal under the flap of the rubber after you put the shield in. If you try to put the urethane before the shield, you'll have a huge mess. -

I've done around a hundred through the years, and unless you've done it several times, you're probably money ahead to have it done professionally. -
Got our first snow yesterday, and more today. Even with summer tires on it, I made it up my driveway with my xt6 - Ask Snowman about my drive some time. Put the studded snows on last night. Bring on the snow. Even with about 3" of ground clearance, the xt6 goes about anywhere. But it's not as snow-worthy as my Brat - 14" pugs, 3" lift, and lsd - with all terrain tires, it's good, with studded snows, there are not many places I can't get that are driven by any vehicle other than a snowmobile.

Welcome anyway.

I'll break the ice. I found a new trail system near Palmer and am planning a trail run in the not-too-distant future. If you'd like to go along, PM me (do not respond here) to arrange a time. Must have a lifted rig or you'll be limited to the milder routes. I'll be taking my Brat. Others welcomed and appreciated.

Calling all Alaska members

Bring it on in. I'm spending part of Saturday cleaning the garage out. It'll be easier/cleaner to work in then. -

It doesn't look like we got enough response/nterest for this weekend. Torxxx, how much snow is there up north? Maybe we could look at a trip down the Rex trail, or somewhere like the Stampede trail. If not, Eureka is always a blast. See what kind of interest is in Fairbanks for a pre-winter trail run. -

The Rex Trail is a good wheelin trail, but that's too foar for this trip. We should plan a trip there in May, a couple day outing and camp out. Then we'd get to meet all of the Fairbanks contingent. -

Do you know of any good wheeling trails up by Talkeetna or Trapper's Creek? -
I can vouch for his quality, also.

Timing is everything. I'll send you my copy in exchange for the cd you sent out yesterday. PM me your mailing address and I'll get it out Monday after I get back from CA.

How best to ship glass??
northguy replied to SUBARU3's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Tempered glass can take quite a pounding on the flat surface, but will break quite easily if bumped on its edges. Padding on the perimeter edges is where the emphasis is needed most. Wait until Snowman makes his next world tour and have him deliver it personally. Otherwise, UPS is pretty reliable. -
Jerry, bratsrus1 is near there, also.

General rule of thumb is that anything over 4" needs mods to steering, and different wiring/hoses in the engine compartment. You may also have issues with brakelines. Can the engine handle the difference in tire size, or will it be bogged down too much?

This weekend is hot for me, but the 22nd would probably work. I need to run it by the "boss." Somebody should see if Torxxx is available. -
I talked with Snowman and we decided to call a meet and greet for all Alaska (and anyone else who wants to show) members. We're thinking of heading out to some local trails and maybe a bonfire/ feed, or just get together for food and beverages at a local establishment. Chime in with what would work best for you and we'll put it together. But hurry, the snow will be flying soon.
