  1. Torxxx you've got to be concerned with a hot air intake in this climate, too. Kelly had problems with his hook up.
  2. We have plenty more where that came from. Got 6" today alone. I plowed 7 driveways today -all as favors.
  3. Good to hear from you again. Have a great holiday season.
  4. Thanks to allof the parties for their hard work to get us up and running again.
  5. I surely would have liked to have attended, but gas prices, airline ticket costs, and the timing weren't in my favor this year. I was out caribou hunting that weekend - popped a nice bull, then blew the motor on my 4-wheeler and had to be towed out 12 miles. Sounds like it was a great time. Maybe next year.
  6. I experienced a different type of problem with the auto tranny not wanting to disengage from park. There is a, for lack of a more technical term, button beneath the trim around the shifter that can get gunked up by dust, or spilled soda, or whatever. If you depress it with a small screwdriver, or a pencil, or whatever handy thin object might be available, it shifts out of park quite easily. I have since sprayed it down with brake cleaner and then lubed it up and have had no more problems with it. You might give that a shot if it happens again.
  7. Sparky, are you sue you didn't transpose the numbers and you're actually 85? HBD, you spring chicken.
  8. Put the gasket around the window. Put the rope in the lip of the gasket. Spray the pinchweld with some lubricant - silicone works well, as does WD40. Have someone hold the window and gasket up to the window witrh gentle inward pressure. Pull the rope to lift the gasket lip over the pinchweld. Ta da.
  9. What do you expect considering the welcoming committee? J/K Brian:grin:
  10. I haven't heard from Kelly in a long time. He got a job wrenching and hasn't been on the board since Jan. I doubt, with the price of gas and the time its being held, that I'll be down, but you never know. Maybe if I could get Ed R. to pick up an inexpensive Brat and do the EJ transformation for me...?
  11. I saw Yes in Madison (in the round - on a rotating stage) in 1980. Unfortunately, Bill Bruford wasn't the drummer. Alan White was on the kit. It was still one of the best shows I've ever been to.
  12. Some form of corrosion reducing lubricant like PB Blaster, or Yield to help break loose the bolts and nuts apart will greatly reduce the frustration. WD40 just won't do it.
  13. Page 3 of The Idiot's guide to your Volkswagon says:" Make peace with your rump roast, for it bears you."
  14. He lives in Alaska. He doesn't need a dirt road this time of the year.
  15. Are the two cars close enough in years and body style that the front fenders and bumpers are transferable? And even if the motor is bad, grab the alternator and battery and anything else that comes off easily. If you're ever planning on lifting something in the future, grab the steering rod. What kind of transmission is in it? A D/R 5 speed? If so, save it. You might as well save the differential. You might want to weld one up in the future.
  16. Best wishes in the new year to all at the USMB. I'd name names, but then I'd inadvertantly leave someone out and that person would feel snubbed. So, HNY to all. If you know who I am, you'll know what I'm having for dinner tonight. (It's my family tradition).
  17. Eric, I know how you feel. I really regret having to sell my pride and joy. I remember thinking to myself how unhappy I felt driving it off to its new owner. I just keep in mind that in the future I look forward to putting together a Brat with a 2.2, 3"lift, lsd and 5 spd d/r. It'll happen, but not until my son is out of college. Happy New Year to you.
