  1. Being more attuned to old school stuff, I hadn't thought of putting a new gen (awd) 5 spd in when a d/r is an option. What was I thinking?
  2. I'm guessing a combination of the two aforementioned leaks. With theblue smoke only happening for a short while, I'd say bad rings that are allowing oil seepage, and then after they heat up, they expand enough to fix the problem. Just a guess?
  3. Wait, if that is on the turbo wagon, it very well may be a critical condition and you'd better sign over the titlew to me immediately. (Just condensation)
  4. So, once you get all of this stuff strapped onto you vehicle, you'll either not be able to go anywhere, or you'll look like the Beverly Hillbillies.
  5. You're right, Mick. That's a good parts score. What color is the interior?
  6. Is it the Brat you're having problems with or the hatch? The signal switch for the 4wd light on the brat is located by the base of the selector level, under the center console. Check the switch first. And, welcome to the board.
  7. Josh, I haven't read your write up (yet), but does Mudrat's adaptor make it easier to install a 5spd?
  8. It looks like it's shaping up nicely.
  9. It could be worse; you could have caught it head on.
  10. Maybe you could get yourself arrested and be that hairy dude in prison yourelf and get your fifteen hundred one whack at a time.
  11. In case anyone else hasn't: welcome to the board. These people know their stuff.
  12. A jug of water or premixed anti-freeze/water. A gas can. A shovel. A come along.
  13. I appreciate your sensitivity, but I don't see anything demeaning or derogatory in what's been said. I believe we're all deficient in some aspect of our lives. I'm as musically deficient as they come. I couldn't sing on key if I wanted to. And I couldn't keep a steady rhythm either.
  14. Mick, Shawn, Zap, Richie, Ed (X7), Larry dew, Paul, Snowman, aTorxxx, and god only knows who else has come through for me. Hats off to all of them for their generosity and kinship.
  15. Don't know if it'll work, but this is certainly posted in the wrong place. Should be in older generation. Mods please move it.
  16. RavenTBK just resurrected his old thread entitled "Got Amps..." in the older generation forum. You might want to read it. Good luck.
  17. Try a search on alternator swaps. I was just talking with Snowman and he was talking about doing anuograde toa Chevy (I believe) alternator that kicks out more amperage, but I don't know the details. I seem to recall a few discussions about this modification about a year ago. If you're stuck in a spot where Subaru parts aren't generally available, this may work for you.
  18. - you might as well laugh at me, too. Last Spring, when I was putting my Ozzified lift on, I thought it would be a great time to replace the rear shocks as they were about gone, but I cohldn't get the nut that holds them on to break loose. I doused them with PB Blaster, let them soak, heated them with a torch, beat on the wrench with a hammer... just couldn't get it to budge. So I left them alone. Now that I have sme time off for Christmas break, and some of Ed Rach's Yield penetrant (excellent stuff, Ed - thanks again) I thought I'd have another go at it. Jacked up the back, doused it with Yield, let it sit, and then put the wrench on it and hit the wrench with a BFH. NO GO! Scratched my head a bit, and then put a socket and breaker bar on the not from the other side, gave the bar a slight tap, and SHAZZAM! The nuts facing me were welded in place. DUH! New shocks are now on after about 15 min per side. Why didn't I think of that months ago.
  19. With the fondness for putting "Y" endings on words, I'm guessing Australia.
