  1. Jodi, welcome to the board. If you make it downto Anchorage, give a shout. There are a couple of us here and we get together from time to time.
  2. You sure seem to have bad luck with mechanics. It seems there was problems with a Midwest mechanic also.
  3. Damn, just as it was getting broken in. Some thing just aren't built to last any more.
  4. Jon, welcome to the board. As to the taillight problem, check the socket for corrosion, and check the ground. The lights in the dash are a major "PITA" to change as it requires a bunch of removal and replacement.
  5. Must have the seat belts in there, and it would probably be a smart thing to have the head rests also.
  6. Buy the 93 with low miles and use it for your work car. Then take your time and look around for the car you want to build for off-road use. That way you can get serious about it.
  7. Is that photoshop program made by Sanford's Magic Markers?
  8. Oh come on! You canhave more fun with him than that. Let him brag it up first, agree with him how awesome it is, then have him run a 1/4 for time. Show him the doggy time and comment that maybe his "turbo" need some tuning. Have him show it to you then (after the humiliating 1/4 mile time and his inability to point to it). Then show him this thread.
  9. PM Snowman. He just did the Accord spring swap.
  10. Isn't this the exact issue that has been discussed in this thread so far?
  11. I'm picking up a driveline from an ea82 today for free, so that gives me an excuse to go buy a welder and a big grinder.
  12. You're right. That's a good buy. New studded snows here run 200 - 300 (and up), but I put a new set on every 2 years. I spend too much time driving in snow and ice to mess around. If the roads down there aren't that bad, you can probably get away with it. Heck, just changing a flat tire at -30 is no fun.
  13. 3 years/20,000 miles difference = I'd go with the Brighton.
  14. You can buy new oem take-offs for 25 a pop. Haven't tried the tires, but why buy used tires? Why put 100 dollar tires on a 2 to 25 thousand dollar car? The one thing that will make a huge difference in your ability to steer and stop is the tires. Why skimp there?
  15. Welcome to the board, Russ. You'll find several members from MD here.
  16. Jerry (bratsrus1) pmed me and gave me the scoop. His kit sounds like a great deal and I plan to do it, but have one other question: can you use a driveline from an ea 82 instead of lengthening the Brat driveline?
  17. I own 2 lagacies - a 93 and a 96, both 2.2's. They bothhave been powerful, steady runners with only minor problems. The 96 had an alternator problem that was later recalled - SOA covered the replacement cost 2 years after the replacement, and it also had an oil journal get clogged. It is very close to 190 k on the clock. The 93 was purchased used and has presented no problems. Bought it with 86k and it now has 125k. Both good vehicles.
  18. John, as the installer, there is no blame pointed toward you, andas one who modifys his rig, there is no deceit. The mendacity occurs when something is done that changes the original warranty and then is removed and takne in as if there were never any mods done. This is like using a fillet knife for a pryar and then complaining to the sales person that it broke when you were filleting a fish. Car companies don't have to offer warranties - it's part of a sales promotion. If you buy a vehicle from a private individual, there is no warranty, and only a limited warranty at best when you buy a used car from a dealer. All I'm saying is if you put mods on a car, be proud of them and if your vehicle messes up, be honest enough to understand you voided the warranty rather than being sleazy and taking them off and trying to pass it off as manufacturer fault. Take some personal responsibility for your actions.
  19. Gave my spare to my Brat to Torxxx for Haggard (86 GL wagon, I believe) and it worked just fine.
  20. Put it aside for a while, go buy a pos Honda and when it breaks down, you'll be happy to work on the subaru again.
  21. If you do a search on auto seat belts, there was a thread not too long ago about how to get them unjammed. Then you could use them again.
  22. Thanks Mick, I'll PM him to see what the current status is.
  23. Yup, that's what I was getting at. If you want to modify your rig, it'll void the warranty. If you then take the mods off and take the car back in and claim that things went wrong and should be covered by a warranty, you are engaging in untruthful, unethical, and illegal activities. Mendacity.
