I've been to the one in Soldotna, and they are good. Best place in the state for an oil change (oil and filter installed = $10). But the best shop I've foud is Dave Miller's Subaru in Eagle River. When I have a problem I can't figure out, I see him. He is the dude.

That is a score. I could see a 2.2 in that.

If you're going to be around tomorrow, I'll swing by and show you what I mean. I've had the same problem since I bought it.

only serious replies please

If the word has been out for 3 weeks (publicly) and you still haven't received a call/response from him, then he's hiding something. If nothing else, he coud contact you and say, he is aware he owes you something and either doesn't have it or doesn't have your cash, or something. Just recognition of a debt is a start. If it were me, I would feel I had waited long enough, given the benefit of doubt, attempted to communicate him, and be justified in initiating other modes of action. -
That's interesting as when I put my 83 Brat into 4wd on snowy roads, it is almost impossible to steer a straight line with it. While I can go down the same road in 2wd no problem, as soon as I put it into 4wd, it breaks loose and drifts all over the place. It drives like I did years ago when I used to drink.

Too sweet, Zap. Is that your next secret project?

What would the ride feel like if the gearing on the front wheels were different than the back (if the rear diff was say 3.9 and the front 3.7)? Would one notice this only when 4wd were engaged, or would there be a constant battle going on? How would the vehicle handle in 4wd?

A quick question about oil pressure
northguy replied to fluffy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If you start to see oil blowing out of the dipstick tube, you might be concerned, but otherwise, I wouldn't worry too much. When I first bought my Brat, I had very low oil pressure, so I had the pressure gauge changed. Then I had high oil pressure. The pressure didn't change, just the reading. As long as it doesn't go to zero, or make a leaky mess on the engine compartment, I wouldn't be too concerned what the instrument sats. Listening is probably a more accurate measure. -

Sounds like window tinting to me. -

This is certainly a viable and ongoing project. Christmas break may afford a bit more time to work on it, though. -

I believe he drives a Leone. -
PK's lift kits are about bulletproof. Just be patient and make sure you line up threads before you start to torque things down.

Tenty nine? That's pretty impressive. But not as good as FITTY.

CV axle grease leak question
northguy replied to pmichaud's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Is the clamp on the boot loose? If so, put a hose clamp on it and reef it down. -
Do it, work the bugs out, and then let's do mine.
-
A guy can do a lot of fabbing on his own, but when one figures his time as money, he may be money/time ahead to just buy one of PK's kits. It's hard to go wrong there.

Roxtar, you're dealing with a Limited English Proficient member. That's probably why he specified the color of the fluid. He's O.K. with what he's doing. I wonder about having an excess amount of fluid and undue pressure on seals?
