  1. Try this: get a half dozen of those chemical hand warmers and put them around your carb. Then wrap it in aluminum foil, and then put a towel around it. That should melt any ice you mighthave in the carb. If that doesn't work, you couldalways try what I did as a young adult - kick the damn thing. It never made the car start, but I felt better afterwards.
  2. Welcome to the board. My inclination is that you're dealing with a car worth over $20,000 U.S. dollars. I'd have the work done professionally and avoid potential headaches - and not void the warranty.
  3. Own 3 subbies- 96 Legacy = 190,000 miles 93 Legacy = 130,000 miles 1983 Brat = 145,000 miles Expect to double current miles
  4. Brian, welcome to the board. Please explain what it does after you close the hood and start to drive.
  5. Radiation and chemotherapy. Oh, you mean rust... never mind.
  6. The diaphram on the end of the air breather snout that controls the gate (closes when it's cold, opens when warm) - $100 from the dealer - $60 used from AAA Subaru. I know it's not in the hundreds like some of the other parts mentioned, but this is such a small, insignificant part that it's just a blatant rip-off.
  7. 5w30 in winter, unless you have a head bolt heater of oil pan heater. Then run the same as the rest of the year, just plugit in.
  8. That price is high even for my neck of the woods. With mileage like that, you should get it for way less. I'd say $1500 tops.
  9. Happy to see you figured out the problem. Have you put a new one on yet? How is Haggard running now?
  10. I believe Edrach has a set of alloy 14's for sale right now. I can fit 205/75/14's under my Brat with very little fender modifications. Much better gas mileage, too.
  11. Your best bet is to: 1. Visit the USRM on this site and then 2. Go buy a reliable manual to walk you through the process. Neither operation is too technically difficult, but to give detailed information is time-consumptive and probably redundant - visit the USRM first. It has a ton of good info. Good luck.
  12. So, you're looking at putting over a grand into a car that books for about $8oo. What do you think?
  13. Welcome. I'm sure you'll learn to like the performance of the engine even better than the sound.
  14. Try www.Ozified.com - they are BYB kits made in America (San Diego) by P.K. Davis. I believe he either has a kit for Legacies or will be coming out with one soon. In my opinion, these are the best d/i/y kits available. If you live or are traveling near Oregon, call Mudrat and he can virtually lift anything to about any height you want. Good luck
  15. Snag it, man. Even with the cost of a complete motor replacement, you'll be money ahead.
