~0 rpm!?
northguy replied to hlevyn's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
They are black hoses that fit over nozzles of different sizes around different places in the engine compartment. -
PM Subaru Junkie or Shadow. They are the two "go to" guys for technical help.

Do a quick scan and see if there is a vacuum hose disconnected somewhere. -
Isn't that one of the three greatest lies?I don't want to hear the other two.

I believe the company is called Scorpion Lifts, but be forewarned, they aren't cheap, and the shipping is high also. Mudrat would probably be a better deal (and you'd be helping out a board member).

Welcome to the USMB. Thanks for following directions. Now then, write a check for the amount of one thousand dollars and address it to Northguy....

That's a pretty big compliment coming from Zap, and I agree - Tim is certainly a charitable soul. Good guy to have around.

Hey, first, welcome to the board. Don't get too bent, we're not here to hurt anyone's feelings or make anyone look bad. You'll find a lot of people here with a great sense of humor, but we are also pretty die-hard Subaru enthusiasts and pride ourselves in the knowledge of our cars, albeit in my case somewhat limited. Rather than put out bad info, it's best to defer to those who really know their s***. But don't be offended. If you hang around here long, you'll be scoobied up in a hurry. There are a lot of good people here with a wealth of knowledge.

!st Subaru Parts comes to mind. Also some people use Carter Subaru. Do a search on parts in the archives and see what comes up. Welcome to the board.

Welcome to the board. -
I am far from the expert on this so take it with a grain of salt( I'm sure to be corrected if I dispell false info, and if so, I apologize in advance) but I believe the 82 and 83 ea81 motors in Brats had solid lifters and the later years had hydraulic lifters. As for performance specs, I couldn't say if there is much of a difference. There may be some other differences, but that's what initially comes to mind. (I await the onslaught of corrections).

Mmmm Mmmm, smoked clutch. Not as good as smoked salmon, though. -
Dent-B-Gone!

Please expand. I assume you're talking about one of those little dent pulling suction cup things advertised on T.V. Tell me more. I could use one if they really work. -
Excellent news. Sounds like you're making some solid progress.

Welcome to the board. Haven't been there with a car, butbeen to Europe several times. Didn't see many Subarus, though.

The ASRM has a step-by-step process for this exchange.

Hello new to the board and need advice
northguy replied to SūbCommander's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Welcome. There are a ton of people on the board who will sell you a used motor, or you can go pull your own from the j/y. You're in the right area for that. -

NGK's if you can find them. -
I painted in Herculiner in my bed for about 70 dollars. The gallon kit (sells for $89 at Schuck's with a $20 rebate) did 3 full coats. Tough stuff. Dries to a plastic-like texture with a lot of pellitized-like bumps. It's very non-skid and has held up to an Alaskan winter with stuff being bounced around in the bed for 5 months.

How can you call that a POS? I've seen (I'm not making this up) whole dog teams (16 dogs) and the owner (musher) holed up in a real POS - a 1986 Subaru wagon with rustholes one could see through into the interior. That was their transportation to the Iditarod from Fairbanks to Anchorage for the start of the race. I guess she (the musher) thought if the car broke down, she could always just hook up the team and mush the rest of the way.

Maybe so, but the cool neon colors they come in can really class up an old, greasy engine compartment.
