  1. A little more information - year and make of vehicle, type of transmission (3spd auto/4spd auto?) - would probably help. If it's still shifting fine and the parking pall is still holding, there's probably nothing to worry about, but I am far from an expert on auto trannies.
  2. The uncanny thing is that last evening I was going to post on the board to see if you made it home all right, but thought better of it in the event that I might jinx you. WOW! Looks like you've got your work cut out for you. It's probably a good thing that you've got a few backups in the stable for situations such as this. If there's anything I can do for you, let me know. I don't know what shape Jon'smotor was in when he pulled it out of his white loyale, but that may be an option if things don't look good with your plan for the swap. Sorry to hear ofyour misfortune, but at least you've got a little time to deal with it.
  3. Welcome to the board. Look around and you'll find some Ausies here that can probably hook you up with a few options on a roo.
  4. It's coming along nicely. A lift, some tires, and ... keep it up.
  5. I don't know why I didn't think og this before, but it is posted in the Older generation section, so it must be of that vintage.
  6. Search Edrach's posts. He's done the write up on IM Testing (emissions testing) several times and has it down to a science. Good stuff, Maynard.
  7. I sometimes think we all worry too much about our subbies.
  8. Many of the same basic issues are akin to all Subarus. CV axles are the same. Head gasket problems are the same. Timing issues- the same....
  9. It's a BYB kit mfd and slod by P K Davis through Ozified. It is excellent and pretty simple to install.
  10. Welcome to the board. If you run into problems and want advise/answers, feel free to ask.
  11. I also need to thank Edrach for the deal on the Pug rims. They worked out great, and I;ll clean them up this weekend and see how good it really looks with a fresh coat of wax.
  12. Or a winch with 100' of cable, various 8'lengths of #8 rebar and a sledgehammer. Pound the rebar into the ground every 110', or where needed and winch yourself along. One can also make a deadman pickpoint by burying a log with the end of your towline tied to it, or a piece of wire with a loop on it so you don't have to dig it back up. Winches are a lot cheaper than expensive tow bills.
  13. Man, this sounds worse than the casualties in Iraq! Did anyone make it out alive?
  14. It looks like it was a blast. Now I hav to find an excuse to revisit the flatland next year.
  15. I'll give it about a week and see how much needs to be ammended. Not much more, I would imagine.
  16. Thanks Richie. It looks almost as nice as when I bought it from you. The first Alaskan winter hasn't been too rough on it. Bushbasher, thanks also. Your comment is partially directed to Richie as I bought it from him about 9 months ago.
  17. My black Brat after Snowman and I installed the kit. Thanks Kelly, Eric Zap and P.K. Davis.
  18. I'll try to post pics in the next day or so. I would never have been able to install one of those in my younger days. I was too impatient and would have ended up stripping out a bunch of stuff. Wrenching teaches patience, and it's good to have a competent partner who doesn't conplain when the first thing you do is hit him in the forehead with the steering extension . Thanks again for the help, Kelly.
  19. Kelly, thanks again for the help. And Zap, thanks for the tip on the brake lines. The lift is in, it euns great and it looks so much better (I'm so happy I'm half tempted topost a dancing banana, bit I won't).
  20. It sounds as though others have given you sound advise (at least enough to keep you busy for a while), so I willonly say welcome to the board.
