Happy trails. If you take a wrong turn and end up in the neighborhood, stop by. -
nokian tires revisited
northguy replied to subiemech85's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The Hak 1's and Hak 10's are what you want. They don't make them anymore, but you can also look under the Nordman name - it's the same tire - an off shoot of Nokian. -
So, would it be worth my time to replace the struts and shocks at the same time, or would that make it even more difficult? And if so, are Gabriel struts any good?

PK Davis (Ozified on the board) sells lift kits - great quality, decent price. Do a search and locate the thread I started on difficulty of installing a lift - a ton of great info from various sources that have installed PK's lift kits. I am currently waiting on mine for my 83 Brat.

Herculinered my whole bed in the Brat. Tough stuff. Easy application. Fairly economical.

Gosh Kelly, you're alful rough on those cats. Must be a dog person. -
PK I sent you an e-mail and a PM ordering the lift kit. Was wondering if you got it? Am looking for confirmation of the order, total cost, and your address. Also need to know form of payment. Thanks.

how much does an engine weigh??????
northguy replied to mickytrus's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I lifted one from the ground to the back of my Brat and then unloaded it myself. Around 150 max. I'm no big guy. -

It's interesting that most people try to limit the mileage on their cars while Subaru owners celebrate their high miles? -
saved a dl from the crusher

If you hadn't mentioned that you got it real cheap (which implies there may be a profit mitive involved) you could have qualified for a humanitarian award. -
You may want to PM setright (I believe). He lives just across the lake from there.

Now that I have committed to installing a lift in my 83 Brat, I am wondering what degree of difficulty is involved. Can a mediocre mechanic (me) install it in a weekend without too much throwing of wrenches and cursing at inanimate objects? Any tips or pitfalls to be particularly aware of?

I'm (apparently) not from Spokane, but welcome to the board. -
Have you considered driving the backroads?

T-topping a DL brat vs. windshield -- Chef Tim?
northguy replied to baccaruda's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Wonder how Tim had his Hatch done? Guess we won't know that answer now. [/b] Tim is still on the board. He just resigned as a moderator. Feel free to ask him, I'm sure he'll be happy to tell you. -
There are several members in your neighborhood. One that comes to mind is called nvzeno. Click on the members button, click the n section, locate his name and you van send him e-mail or a private message through the board. Lots of cool options on this board.

Welcome to the board. I sent you an e-mail through e-bay yesterday to see if you were a board member, and got no answer so I bid against you. Wish I had known beforehand.

Dude, everyone needs to take this quiz!

I'm a Forrester? This thing is whacked! -
And after looking at this, it appears that there is no advantage to ordering the kits in a bundle. So, Torxxx, it might be better to have yours sent to Fairbanks and if you find the time to get together with us, we'll certainly help you with it. And Kelly, you may as well have yours sent to your dorm. We can link up later for the install. So, PK, Yes, put my order on. Let me know how you want payment, and I'll PM or e-mail you the address. I'll take you up on the Fed ex route.
-
Got the quote from NAC link - $187.00 deferred freight (5 - 12 days) that's an additional $62 each. Sounds like the Fed ex route is the best option. I'm down for that, and Kelly and Torxxx, I will order and pay in the next 3 days. So if you are on board, let's hear and get some money to PK.
