I have to strongly urge you not to cut springs, it will make the car act like a springboard, and will reduce the capacity of the car, but being an XT its not like you have room anyway. Once a mechanic always a mechanic, better to wait and do it right then to do it wrong and then do it again. That said, its your car, its just my .02 take it or leave it, not trying to preach.

I swapped from the push button in my DL to the GL dual range, well worth the effort, there's plenty of writeups.

The ej may have more catastrophic failures, if somthing goes wrong it will be hard to fix on the trail. but it will go 10 times farther before anything has to be adjusted or tweaked.

These cars are independent suspension front and rear, the axles are seperate from the differentials, its the Diff that has the LSD, the axles transmit the power from the diff to the wheels.

As Austin said i now have a 1980 EJ22 convert, well, i will by the end of January, and i plan on doing the swap to a 1988 by the end of June, its cold in Michigan, give me a break. dosn't the redrive lower the speed of the prop? cause you don't want the prop tips going faster than Mach, and at 5000 rpm i think they would be going way past that.
