  1. IIRC the XT-6 calipers also work with the early Impreza hubs work as well.
  2. Went to Napa, when I said odeiker clamp they knew exactly what I was talking about, got two and I'm good to go. My personal rating of car parts stores in Bremerton 1. Napa 1.5 O'Reileys 42 Autozone
  3. K&N has its fanbois, they increase flow by reducing the filter medium. I flow benched an EA-82, complete intake, IE stock configuration, and started "improving" parts until I got to what I would consider the "optimal" on that engine. Turns out it doesn't flow any better with the intake removed before the MAF. Now the EJ flows much better than the ole' EA series, but the K&N is a gimmick that at best costs you 50 bucks and at worst will grenade your engine.
  4. Nice, I like the Oteiker joint, already have the tool. I suppose I'll be making a call to Bow Wow on Monday
  5. does the empi kit use Odeker clamps or those funny fold over clamps?
  6. 86 EA-81 Hatch Went to Schmucks, now O'reileys got a CV boot band, it was a cheepy and didn't work a lick. Went back, got a boot kit ordered, well 2 actually, cause both sides need fixin. Picked up boots, installed new boot, inner clamp good to go, big-end clamp a no-go, it was too big. Went to Autozone, got a PnA on their boot kit, 30 bucks after tax. WTF, same kit was 8 at Schmucks. Will be paying Napa a visit tomorrow.. If things don't go well there I'll be getting a boot kit set from Rockford CV Has anyone used a hose clamp on the big end CV joint? In addition, has anyone dealt with auto parts warehouse, I'm thinking about some EMPI axles, but if I can use my subaru bucks and get the subarugenuineparts.com price on OEM i'll be doing that, they are 100 bucks a pop right now.
  7. They've been around for a long time, they are time tested, and OEM were chosen by Subaru because they met their strict standards. If you want to pay a whole bunch extra for a gimmicky oil filter be my guest, its your money. For my car I use OEM, or WIX, they are brands I trust, and they are affordable.
  8. Do you have stock in Delta Seriously though, Cams are the way to go, at that point exhaust might help, but the intake itself is not in any way the most restrictive part of the air flow equation.
  9. I don't know if the auto to manual will work, IIRC the speed sensor, (yes you are correct about VSS) is taken off the speedo, so it should work, just a matter of getting the right wires spliced.
  10. Same number, I might not be here that weekend, going to San D to visit the folks. Killer mudhole you say
  11. should be simple enough, you'll need wiring for both the EJ and the EA to match buttons, but a switch is a switch is a switch. You will most definitely need the VSS, without it the cruise will have no reference.
  12. could rock the Taurus SHO V8, some models were V6 but a few years came with an 8, I believe a 3.6? maybe 3.2, but either way you should be able to either make it FWD-FTL or swap a rear drive ford tranny to it and make it RWD-FTW Oh, and good luck with the educations, and the Corps, This week I'm expecting a call from my recruiter, Coastie Reserves, hard to argue with being stationed 30 minutes from home.
  13. I'll give you a hint, a CD is not a small LP
  14. If I get em, i'll just burn you a CD, make it easy for you, old timer.
  15. PSNS? I'm trying to get a job there, but the wheels of government turn slowly.
  16. All of them? Can you host?, maybe set up a torrent?
  17. your issue is the angles, and not the quality of the boots, the MWE will rip boots as well, either dial down the front suspension or drop the center a little bit and you'll save yourself a lot of grief.
  18. I've moved from Lynnwood to Bremerton, so all my friends with benefits (welders, tire mounting machines and the like) are too far away. I'm just wondering if anyone on this side of the water has good welding skills, worst case I have a 220V stick, and I'm only modifying a bumper but hey, a chance to hang out, talk subies and drink barley pop is always fun. In return, I've got an air compressor, so if its something you would find useful to use I'm game, kind of a skills/tools exchange. Also, anyone know where the good pull a parts are on this side? I'm needing a 3.900 rear diff
  19. I would avoid them, they cost more and won't increase power or economy. Stick with NGK, they are OEM for a reason.
  20. A CBR600 has around 100 hp and weighs in at around 400, Its 4:1 not 7:1 You'd need 450 hp or more to get close. And it still wouldn't be as cool as a motorcycle
  21. Good call, I had the old school castle nut in my mind. The part you punch in on the new axles is not load bearing, its just an anti spin, so you should be able to reuse it.
  22. New axles usually come with a new nut. I've reused, they are large and robust.
