Torque Specifactions for the pressure plate

I'd go with 12, a team of super genius Asian engineers came up with that number. Just sayin. -
Torque Specifactions for the pressure plate
NoahDL88 replied to Goobysoobs's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
pressure plate to flywheel is closer to 12 foot pounds, the 155 could be in inch pounds. Use a 1/4 inch drive ratchet and give it the old good and tight, use locktite if you're worried. -
Should be here in June, ish, at least that's what some reports say. If its on par with a regular forester it'll be worth it. If they charge too much in the way of a smug green premium then they won't sell. I'd get one though, if the price was right.

EA 82 Flywheel bolt torque?
NoahDL88 replied to lizardbrain's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Flywheel torque is 69-75 NM, 7.0-7.6 Kg-m or 51-55 ft-lbs More importantly, can I swing by the next time I'm in Baja? I'll probably be on a motorcycle, but it would still be cool to meet our international members. -
You'll be back, they always come back. Enjoy your new car!

Front Axle roll pin temporary substitute
NoahDL88 replied to kayakertom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I've used coat hangers, wire ones, with good results on the rear, much easier when you have a welded rear and need to install/remove every time you go off roading. -
This has been an idea of mine for a while, and even with the 1500 for the gear it would probably be cheaper than sourcing a Syncro drivetrain. The wheels are turning, and that's bad, usually means I spend too much money. Anyone have a beetle they don't want?

I replaced the clutch on my 94 leggo, it sure is nice to have 5th gear again. replaced the pilot bearing and the throw out bearing, of course. Now when I start the car the starter is really loud. Before it was nice and "normal" volume, but now it sounds like the starter is in my lap. Anyone ever see this before? I'm gonna double check bolt torque tomorrow, and go from there.

Remanufactured Engines
NoahDL88 replied to Jake DMC's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Replace the oil filter, put in new oil and you'll be good to go. I've had better luck with the low mileage Japanese engines than I have with rebuilders, that might just be my luck though. -
