  1. It is not possible, and from a safety standpoint is dangerous. /\---- Former Seatbelt Engineer.
  2. Put a friend in the drivers seat of my leggo in an open parking lot, after 10 minutes of drifting and doughnuts he's ready to sell his corolla and buy a subie
  3. 1.40 face value in silver coinage is equal to one ounce of silver, and an ounce of silver is going for around 30 dollars right now. Those that don't check their pocket change are suckers.
  4. Maybe your ignition wires got crossed? Double check connections, could be something simple.
  5. Interferance(sp?) fit, should be normal, you can hit the axle shaft with some crocus cloth to clean it up a little if you are worried, but it sounds like it's already in there. If it spins nice and easy once it's bolted up I wouldn't worry.
  6. I hate to burst your bubble, but octane and additive packages are totally different beasts. All of the "tier one" fuels will have the same additive package, for cleaning, longevity and stability no matter the grade. A fuel's resistance to knocking won't effect the fuel's ability to sit for long periods of time.
  7. I remember now, someone is turning the big 50, We should do this on the 5th instead.
  8. Who's got two thumbs and is in..... This guy! I have a nagging worry in my head that I have something else planned that day, but if I don't I'll be there in the Pinz, with winch incase any of you scoobies get stuck. (on second thought it might be this from a previous chat) 95% of Tahuya would be doable in a stock subie if you don't mind scratches or using some speed to get over obstacles, but it would be a lot more fun in something with a lift and real offroad tires.
  9. Why not run a 12V compressor and have a 3-5 gallon tank? I'm planning on doing that to my trail rig, add in a 120psi pressure switch to shut off the compressor when the tank is full and i'm all set, If I add a relay to the ignition circuit I don't even have to worry about it going off all night if I get a sudden leak in the system. All harbor freight parts, added an extra heat sink to the compressor per Subieclimbs and the price was about 500 less than the comparable ARB fancy pants parts.
  10. To that point, there are a number of really excellent FAQ's in the offroad section that will answer about 99% of the questions you could ask, and 100% of the questions you already have. Like we tell every noob here, it's not you, its the 1000 that came before you that asked the same questions, got the same answers and didn't bother to take the 5 seconds to search or read teh FAQ, there is really no excuse for it anymore, it's not like this is the year 2000 and an internet forum is some new exciting thing.
  11. What car do you drive? That will make it easier to figure out where it is located.
  12. On your way to the dealer pick up a Delorean, so you can go back to 2010 and still be in the warranty period. Necronomicus Ex Postus
  13. Check all your connectors to ensure that they are clean, corrosion could be compounded by the addition of moisture. You could also have a short of some sort that is only effected when wet. Most likely though, did you take out the snorkus in the fender to make the car "faster" (louder) that helps keep water out of the air filter and it will react as you describe. If your air filter is wet that is your problem.
  14. The whole advantage of subaru's awd system is that it is always ready, if I wanted part time I'd get a truck. Subaru is the best compromise of snow capability and fuel economy. To your other point, subaru only reads the boards for trademark infringement, they could care less what a bunch of cheap bastards are doing to cars they haven't made in twenty years
  15. Spending thousands of dollars on getting a few more mpg's isn't a good return on your investment. Check out the hyper miler sites, changing your driving habits will have the biggest impact on economy. A tune up won't hurt if it's time and checking the pressure in your tires is a good start.
  16. There is a resistor block near the blower motor, check that it its not degraded. Check vintage at the switch and blower.
  17. He came here for a fix and you give him this? They should switch from alloy to steel, but probably only factory rims, while at ford there were a lot of aftermarket rims that didn't fit the sensors well.
  18. Idle quality can be an issue with the Delta Cam, it's not a bad thing, just kind of a lopey idle.
  19. Take care around any connectors, the alternator and the disty. At least the disty can be opened up and cleaned with WD-40 or similar. If you search for cleaning engines, you'll find that unless you're entering your car into a show its really more trouble than it's worth, electrical gremlins and all.
  20. Still it's about area, I've got most of my helmet covered in reflective vinyl, and it lights up great at night, but those rectangles are so small, unless they are SOLAS they are not going to make an impact in any situation where the tail lights are already on.
