I hate to be a buzz kill, but putting those little refectors on your car is akin to trying to bail out the Titanic with a shot glass. A whole strip across the bottom, or better yet the top might actually make a difference. Honestly I didn't even see what you were talking about until I saw the off colored spots on the red Leggo.

Are86 GL Wagons squirrly at highway speeds?
NoahDL88 replied to ubtripn's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You really shouldn't be in 4wd on the highway, unless its covered in snow and ice, in which case going 70 is not advised either. -
Got to meet the almighty Pinzer in person.

The new ones are diesel, and disc brakes, but they are 60,000 and can't be imported until 2013. Now that its running well again i'm not so sure about an engine swap, I still want to do propane for cruising on the highway where loosing 15%hp won't be a problem, add to that the 2.7 stroker and kit and I won't be missing diesel. There is a small chance that a subaru engine would fit under the engine compartment, so if the diesel ever makes it here that would be pretty awesome. -

I'd only trust a few people to drive it, and with the exception of Tex and my father, all of them are in this thread. -
We are no better here.

I adjusted the valves, it still isn't idling well. the plugs are definately ready to get swapped out, so I'm going to go from there and hope its an easy fix. maybe some seafoam. This is definately a departure from the EA-EJ lifestyle. -

It will be at the subaru show next year if you can wait a year to see it, I'll also most likely be at the christmas tree run. There is a pinz forum like ours, http://www.real4x4forums.com There will be subaru logos on it soon, the truck, not the forum -
my new constant velocity LPG carby fitted
NoahDL88 replied to LPGsuperchargedBrumby's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
How easy was that to set up? I've got a rig with 2, 40 year old carbs and a Propane conversion would be a lot easier than trying to make them happy. -

The next weekend should work, I'm partial to the OM 617 as it is the same displacement, and entirely mechanical, and purported to be the most reliable engine every made. A lot of people have tried to diesel the old pinz rigs, so if I can make it work I'll be very happy as most have been disappoined by smaller displacement diesels or bad gearing in the swapped transmissions, so I'm ost likely going tmo have to fab up an adapter plate and flywheel. -

Drill weekend With bigger than stock tires it can top out at 65~70 but crawling up a mountain pass will have you going 45 on a good day. -

It certainly is not made for speed, but will top out about 20 faster than a mog. It's funny you mention it being top heavy and not aerodynamic, I didn't notice -
The reason I'm selling the 86 hatch is because this is taking up room in my driveway. 2.5 liter inline 4 on its side, Gas, :-\ not diesel, but I'm thinking that a OM617 Mercedes Benz could fix that problem. Portal axles and lockers front and rear, with a crawl ratio of something around 60:1, which makes it feel like i'm cheating. I pulled off the roof rack, its great for the movies, but adds about 200 pounds to the worst point on a vehicle that is already tippy. I'll try to upload some action shots in the next few days. Zap, Ken, any time you want to come over to the West Side I'm up for getting muddy.

Any year XT-6, they only made them for 3, maybe 4 years. You'll also want the pressure plate, as that is where the extra grab comes in, and check the manual to see if the step is different, you'll have to change the step on the EA-82 flywheel to match.

I guess it looks like I just might have to make a franken tranny as well I'll have to get the license plate, FRANK
-
So, while I'm thinking about it, is the Leggo AWD 5 speed the same length as the EA-82 Dual range? I'm just thinking that if I do end up with a FrankenEngine I just might want the addition of umm, whats the word I'm looking for, oh yeah, Traction.

Was the Subaru GL line discontinued...?
NoahDL88 replied to SCREEAAAWWWWWW's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Because buying a Legacy or Impreza has more allure than buying a GL or even a DL The line arguably became two lines, the GL becoming the Legacy line and the DL becoming the Impreza line. GL= Got Lots DL= Didn't leave S^$# but an AM Radio
