If you can fit them, probably around 5-8 MPG
-
Didn't you know, it saves like 3 oz and makes the car faster in the turns.
-
It has been assumed before, with disasterous results, thats why I always remind people of the difference.

I think very highly of the Japaneese, i just think that you are showing your age and your ignorance by calling Japaneese people Japs, maybe you forgot about the internment camps during the war. I hope you can understand that this is a very diverse family web site, and that using derogatory comments, weather you find them to be or not, will not make you welcome here.
-
Hate to follow you around like a babysitter, but we don't use the term Japs either, many many people have Asian connections, and find the term derogatory, especially due to its historical background.

Its not the gears that need the protection of the Friction modifier, is the clutch pack LSD bits, gear or no gear, you're not gonna go anywhere if your clutch packs are torn to shreads. BTW, as i said before, you don't need the friction modifier in the tranny cause there is no LSD, and GL-5 doesn't have friction modifier, cause if it did, you wouldn't need to add it now would you?

Whoa there tiger, make sure to get all the facts first. It will physically bolt into any EA subie, provided its 4wd, but it won't work on all of them, LSD's came in turbo cars, which were all 3.7 ratio, they won't work with non turbo cars, or cars with MT's unless the LSD is taken out of the 3.7 diff and put into a 3.9 diff, if you miss this rather important step you'll blow up your drivetrain.

I wouldn't do it for power, fame or for attention, i'd just want to be helping the needy, in america 100 bucks wouldn't do squat, thats true, but 98% of the world lives on less than 30 cents a day, so for those 98% it would sure do a lot

How do I mount this radio in a loyale?
NoahDL88 replied to bgd73's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That looks like it goes in the 4 subie mounting holes, and if you've broken the tabs that they go in, as it sounds like you have, then you are out of luck. you can either replace the dash, or find another way to mount it. -
Depending on mileage, its not a bad idea, there probably gonna be removing the radiator anyway, so why not. I'm a mechanic, and when i do big jobs i like to reccomend the little things that go around the big stuff, If i'm gonna pull a tranny, i'm gonna reccomend a clutch if its been a while. I'd rather install it now, when its easy to get at, then later when its all back together and the customer insists that i broke what ever bit that they didn't want replaced at the time. Make sure you get your seals done, and a water pump isn't a bad idea either if its got over 100K

GL-5 is gear lube period, thats like saying ATF is a good idea for an auto tranny  Its the API spec for gear to gear setups. In a LSD, which btw, not in trannys, unless its an STi do need, and require the "smelly stuff" or you're gonna be repacking clutches real soon, theres a reason why engineers and not 16 year olds design these things Retarded? i'll let my autistic friend know that he is actually LSD friction modifier, i'm sure he'd get a kick out of that.

Hill Holder repair question
NoahDL88 replied to Petersubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...

Website of the Beefaru 88 wagon is DONE!
NoahDL88 replied to BeefaRu's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
My hope was to use the RX center diff, cause i need lockability front and rear, for offroading and the like. But as i see it, or what i'd like: RX center diff, W/lock 4.11 or 4.44 final drive 2wd first gear 1.59 low range Just need a legacy 5mt and a spare EA-82 dual range, as i'm not too worried about the 2wd first gear bit. -
If i had an unlimited budget, i'd fill the car to the brim with 100 dollar bills, and drive around and give them away, specifically in urban areas, starting in Seattle, and working my way around the globe until i got to the tip of russia, then i'd get it to float, and drive down from Alaska to tierra del fuego.

Hill Holder repair question
NoahDL88 replied to Petersubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You should be able to bypass the hill holder, i wouldn't see why you couldn't. Don't really need a hill holder in Michigan anyway. -
Rislone, the engine restore stuff, also seems to help your syncros, so if thats an issue, you can add a pint of that and it should help.

Ok, girls pulling their shirt up are a dime a dozen, you gonna finally spill the beans on how you got the legacy final drive in the RX box? -

Thats a pretty vague question, i'm sure google would have 10 million pictures that fit that description If you find one let me know  -
The power of the EJ22 combined with the low range 1.59 and a welded rear in an EA-82 body let my subie crawl up the same hill that others with the 1.8 and open diffs had to charge up. More power and more traction FTW

H6 Swap...
NoahDL88 replied to BruceyWV's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
I would urge caution, as the key may have a RFID chip in it, and if the ECU needs a signal to crank from the key, it won't work without it.
