  1. The 5mt and the legacy use the same splines on the imput shaft of the tranny, so if the width and the thickness are the same any impreza 2.5 or Legacy clutch should work, pre 2000 IIRC
  2. +10 for the lifesaving ability of Airbags
  3. Just a heads up, if you have air bags in your car, steel bumpers will alter the G forces that your car experiences when you crash, so the airbags will either deploy at very low speeds, or won't deploy at all. So if I may, my .04 cents of opinion, if your car is equipped, this is not the best of ideas.
  4. http://usmb.net/albums/album211/Noah_Dumb.jpg' alt='Noah_Dumb.jpg'>[/img] This is the best Pic i have right now, but she'll be out and about again soon for more pictures.
  5. I don't know where standardsville is, but shipping may not be so bad from Seattle, Carter Subaru, and Jamie from First Subaru Parts always seem to have plenty of "unavailable" parts.
  6. Its true that little chunks will some times leave your tires if you get them siped, but the advantages, in rain, ice and slick rock far outweigh the little bit of chunking. I've siped mine, and i've never regretted it.
  7. If we do both i can get rid of all of tex's crap in my car tonight. I'm up for both, and IIRC, i'm 21;)
  8. Tex, Sunday would work too, Sure. I'll bring by the parts tomorrow anyway if that works for you. Let me know. So I guess this is out for Wednesday.

    Brakes?

I got all the parts today, just need to get some forester struts, and i'll be good to go, then i need to find some 14 inch leg steels. gotta strike while the iron is hot i guess.
  10. Don't forget a tranny cooler, but that would be a neat swap to see
  11. I'd like 2 please, i'll either stop by your house, or if Tex can make it, we'll be meeting at red robin or somthing like that tomorrow.

    Brakes?

Give me one reason why not

    Brakes?

If you end up going to a bigger tire, even if the wheel is the same size, the rotating mass increases, so your stock brakes will not be as effective. I'd like to have more breaking power on all my cars, especially the 88, the OBS is adequate though, but if i get more power from the engine, and bigger wheels, i really should have bigger brakes.
  14. Who's up to meet and catch up? I'll be up at the Northgate Red Robin tomorrow, probably around 7PM. Let me know if you can make it, if i'm the only one i'll eat at home. Maybe Wednesday would work better, I really just need to get some parts to Tex and Dan-o, so what ever night works best for them.
  15. Give me five minutes with it, i've never met a cat that didn't like me.

    Brakes?

The SSR comes in a 265/70R16 which is the smallest tire they make for the 16 inch wheel. It calculates out to about 30.6 inches, so it may be a bit tall. The Mud Terrain TA KM comes in a 225/75R16, which is about 29.5 inches. I wonder if these would be worth upgrading to from the swampers? The All terrain TA KO comes in a 215/70R16 which is28 inches, although thats no where near Swampers ability.
  17. I'm jumping on the bandwagon, i just picked up everything but the struts to do the XT-6 swap, gonna go with Forester struts as i'm assuming they're taller than the stock XT-6 parts. I'm gonna be needing to change the inner cups, but i don't think that will be too hard, MWE Axles should be able to do it. It'll be nice to be able to stop with the swampers.
  18. I did the EJ22 motor into another Subaru, so i used a board member to make the adapter plate. But i used the Kenedy Eng wiring "cheat sheet" and it was well worth the 20 or so bucks. I havn't used either's adapter plates so i can't speak to eithers quality.
  19. Seeing as you work at a tire shop, then you should know that mounting a tire that goes on a 5-7 inch wheel should not be mounted on a 4 inch wheel.
  20. Ditto, listen to the man, theres a reason they are TEMPORARY spares
  21. With the bubbles, its probably a head gasket. As for will it overheat? the thermostat dose 2 things, it obviously regulates temperature by opening and closing, but it also limits flow by restricting the size of the coolant passage, which keeps the coolant in the engine longer so it can absorb heat, and then transfer it to the radiator. Cliffs notes, check for exhaust gas in your coolant, and yes, without a thermostat, your engine, althgough it will read lower, you engine will be running hotter.
  22. The rear LSD won't fit, there was a huge post on this about 2 weeks ago that covered this topic. The bolt circle won't fit from the 160, its totally different.
