Has anyone taken a wrx tranny
NoahDL88 replied to 86ROO's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The WRX didn't get a front LSD, but the STi with the 6MT did, but it won't fit. you can get an aftermarket one, 1000-1500, or you can get a phantom grip, which is around 400, but that has gotten mixed reviews. -
If you have the engine and the transmission, just use card board and trace the two out, you've got your pattern.

Yeah, i'm here, I'll spend the next week in Federal Way, and i got a down payment on an apartment up in Stanton, Marysville, and i've got a washington drivers licence coming in the mail. I'm 99% on a job turning wrenches in Marysville. So things are looking up.

I thought you got your block? Its going to Tex now. Sorry.

I'm in towne, the subie didnt' skip a beak, and was able to climb the steep grades in 4th gear, EJ22 FTW I'll be up in Marysville tomorrow, and around for the next 10-20 years.

How do you know if a DL is Fuel injected?
NoahDL88 replied to cndymyfrnd's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Wack the fuel pump with a hammer a few times, sometimes they just get stuck from sitting and need some motivation. I'm pretty sure that someone on the board has got to have one lying around if you end up needing one. -
Thanks?

what milage are you getting? The easiest and cheapest way to increase your mileage, slow down, i always ran late on the way into work, but on the way home i'd take it nice and easy, i think i averaged 26 in the 91 legacy sedan. also, get rid of all the mc donalds junk in the back of your car, you'd be supprized what a little weight savings will do for your MPGs

Get the engine up to operating temps, and shut the car off. Disconnect a vacuume line that distributes to both sides of the intake manifold, somewhere near the throttle body, and stick the end into the can of seafoam The engine may stall, but just restart and try to hold the revs where te engine keeps running, once you're out of foam, shut the car down and let it cool completely. Start the car up, 2-3 hours later, and don't be alarmed if there is a lot of smoke, i mean lots, tons. it'll go away after around 10-15 minutes, and your car will thank you for it.

How would you build the perfect sleeper?
NoahDL88 replied to Jack in Norfolk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'd like to remind everyone thats bandying about the 6 speed JDM tranny like its god's gift to women. It will actually make you slower in the 1/4 mile, as you have to shift more, yeah, its better for rallying, but for straight shot, its not as good as the trusty 5MT. I have 2 ideas for teh Fast4r 97 OBS, STi swap, they already have the hood scoop, so no one would be the wiser. 80's hatch, STi swap, painted gloss black, and get "popa san" for the plate. Of course 300 HP would be useless with the stock brakes suspension, so i'd have to bring that over too, and get 16-17 inch "wagon" wheels made Non Subie related mid 80's Toyota Cressida wagon, Gen 4 Supra drivetrain swap, it'll fit real nice, the Cressida used the gen 2 Supra engine, detuned of course. -
westcoaststompers small site update
NoahDL88 replied to Rooinater's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Looks good www.westcoaststompers.com On another note, I'll be working in Marysville, and hopefully living north of there, in say Stanton/Arlington.... ish. Hurry home, i want to go offroadin. BTW, my car has had some updates, i'm runnin EJ22 now, not the EA-81 but theres no rush to change that, and i'm not too worried. -
The EJ harness, 90-94 is basically the same thoughout, but the colors of the wires have changed and there is a different setup with the diode, and some of the relays.

how would you build a low comp. motor?
NoahDL88 replied to 4x4moose's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
My first question would be why? unless you've got a stockpile of Ch #5 perfume that you need to get rid of. Even if you're gonna turbo, i'd still reccommend not going lower just to get more boost. Corky Bell is the author behind "Maximum Boost" -
Dang, its not snowing here in San Diego, maybe i'll stick around here for a few more months.

Help!! Car died today = P
NoahDL88 replied to JordanR693's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
What kind of car? fuel injected or carby? what year? You might try this in the new gen forum, as this "offroad forum" is for offroad problems, and the new gen is for drivability problems -
The Spokane near Idaho? the one 6 hours from I 5? Thanks for the offer, but unless i get really lost, i don't think i'll be out that way.

I'm leaving Thursday morning, and depending on how i feel when i hit SFO, i may push to Seattle in one day, or take my time and make two days out of it. I'm bringing XT shortblock- Tex 5mt + Diff and Driveshaft for Dan Weber for Willis I'm picking up Parts from Flow Wheels in Olympia, XSNRG although I may wait for another trip to stop by. If I should be picking up parts from you (probably for John) or I should be bringing parts to you, let me know, I don't want to forget them. I'd really like some #'s for along the way, in case the worst should happen. I'll be shooting up I 5 the whole way, and i'll be on CB ch 5
