You're on the right track with a tune up, plugs, wires, air and fuel filter. don't spend the extra money on a K&N they arn't worth it. There is a snorkus thingy in the passenger fender that is worth a little at the top end, and it makes the car sound better(meaner) when you're on the throtte, but you have to take the fender off to get to it. For the rally, the motor is quite good already, you should focus your attention on wheels, tires and suspension mods. if its an automatic, i'd switch to a stick shift pronto. If this is rally only, you can clear out a lot of the interior parts, but could make it hard to convince your significant other to ride in a car with no interior, which will also make it much louder.

How to keep rain out of your Snorkel
NoahDL88 replied to FlyB0y's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Most if not all of the rally cars, when they go through the dusty sections have their snorkle pointed backwards, seems to work fine for them. -

Dude, Austin won't care, hijack away. So can you run the EJ25 block with the EJ22 engine management? Or would you reccomend somthing like Perfect power for tuning? And whats the CR with the EJ22 heads? -

It is however not a direct swap, you'll need the adapter plate and the wiring harness and computer. -

If the spark plug threads are good, maybe i just want the heads, one of my heads has a helicoil on the spark plug, and i'm not so keen on that, and if i can put the EJ18 heads on her, and raise the compression to boot, it might not be a bad option. Anyone know the "new" compression ratio? or what the head volume is? -

Ram air is a scam, until you hit around 70 miles per hour, and if you are offroading you are probably limited to around 55-60 anyway with the tires on your car. Having it point backwards would be much better, although down is the best. -
And i thought Centralia was somewhere in Australia, i may have to see about making it down myself.

It'll take 8.3 Liters, or 8.8 quarts, depending on if you feel like metric or american capacaties the day you buy your fluid. It also says to run DEXRON II Which is different from Mercron, the friction additives are different between the two and could cause either harsh application of the clutch bands, or could cause them to slip. Any Dexron will work, as by now there probably up to Dexron V, it'll be the one "formulated" for GM vehicles.

If you want an EJ22, why not get a Legacy?
NoahDL88 replied to Monte's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
As Northguy said, that'd be Austin, but i put the neat lights on the front. I like what Tycho was hinting at, I wanna get a hatchback and do a complete STi or WRX drivetrain swap, with bolt on go fast bits, and the weight savings alone, that car would be dang sexy. -
1st stop posting in every single thread that comes up with lift or offroad 2nd start going back to the other posts and look at the responces there. We'll help you but were not gonna hold your hand, i've tried to help in at least 2 of your other posts regarding the exact same topic, if you can't follow those simple links, then you are in no shape to install a lift kit
-
Right above this post, the one that is exactly above it, you'll see a post that says Sticky: Frequently Asked Questions about how to upgrade, lift, shoe your Soob for wheeling. Zapar The answers to all your offroad questions will be found there, also, Do a SEARCH.

Read the Offroad FAQ, it varies per each car, depending on how old the springs are, and how much extra junk you carry. you should be able to get by with 26" tires with out any problems at all, I've got the 27/28 inch SSR super swampers on my 3" lifted DL wagon, i've only had to do some minor clearancing. So yeah, virtually.
-
Welcome, What kind of wagon do you have? legacy or Loyale? As far as lifts, there are two places to look, the "Search" button, top right, or the FAQ OFFROAD thread at the top of the page. Everything you need to know is in there. Try looking on the first page of forums for the most up to date information, as threads that had their last post in August are not very current.

need your help with the best carpets\floor mats
NoahDL88 replied to moshem74's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Any floor mat should work, i don't see how the Impreza ones wouldn't, they may not fit exactly like they would in an Impreza, but they should work in the Loyale. I've got big rubber ones in my loyale that were designed for an "SUV" there a bit big, but they fit just fine. -

. Umm, Moshem asked for carpet. Mo, are you looking for the complete carpet? or just floor mats? Austin, "ratty2austin" found a place in Seattle last year, maybe there is an Israeli distributor. -
If you're sticking it to a 5mt or a 4mt, you're gonna need a flywheel and a clutch. also when you wire it you'll have to bypass the NSS, Neutral Safety Switch.
