The language in that clip is a little bit above the heads of some of our younger listeners, just a word of warning. Good video though. -
TMIC installed!!! Check it out!!!
NoahDL88 replied to wagon_basher's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That looks real clean, where did you find all the hoses for the install? -
I'd advise against cutting your springs, they become weaker and stiffer, both are characteristics that you don't want in a spring, much stiffer not "good" stiffer. If you ever want to see the effect of a cut spring job, look at a honda civic that is just above the ground, if they've cut both ends those things bounce more than an old buckboard wagon.

Its from an 85 GL, with D/R, hence the "LO" i jumped all the wires, so i don't know what would make the shift light come on. -
93 loyale oil amount?
NoahDL88 replied to NewDriverOlderRide's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Its a metal gasket that goes between your drain plug and your oil pan, it keeps it from leaking, although it probably won't anyway, its cheap 1.50 insurance. -
Just in case anyone wanted a new avatar, will need to be resized, or wondering what happens when you jump all the lights, also in "sport" aka white mode.

93 loyale oil amount?
NoahDL88 replied to NewDriverOlderRide's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Five is way to thin, you'd want a thicker, higher number, the warmer your climate is. Stick with a good high quality 10W30, I use Castrol, and you can't go wrong. The "high mileage" oils have additives that swell your seals, these work like rogaine, if you stop using them, the problem comes back, although with the oils, now your seals have worn down more, and will shrink even smaller, letting out even more oil. Some guys on the board use a really thick oil to combat smoking, I think a 20w50, you might be able to get away with it in Fla, but i'd caution against it as the extra time that your engine runs at startup before the thick oil makes it to the important parts could be offsetting the benifit later. I use Subaru OEM oil filters, and don't forget the crush washer. -

1/4" heater hose... quick question
NoahDL88 replied to Indrid cold's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The fuel line may not designed for the higher temperatures that the coolant is at. it should be ok, but i'd keep an eye on it, just in case. -
? What carb is he showing? You get them at the carb store. Its probably a 32/36 DGEV, the electric choke is the easiest to setup, and if you go to the carter/redline web page they have the weber, and adapterplate to suit your needs.

California Brat...new Carb?
NoahDL88 replied to Born_a_Brat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I dunno about the smog police, but the EJ22 will fit nicely into that car. I might be stuck in Cali, i hope not, but if i am i'm in the same boat, i'll be checking with the smog police to see what can be done. -
Huzzah!! BTW, that oil smell is just a Subaru's way of letting you know that its still running.

What the heck are those dang vaccuum switches for?
NoahDL88 replied to markjs's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It could be for your vent settings, the mix and blend doors are operated by vacuume, so without them it may be stuck on "not defrost" which in Washington is rather important. -
Your car is suffering from what we mechanics like to call, "lack of information" and without more information from you, i'll have to get out my crystal ball and diagnose it that way, which is at least 6 hours flatrate. Give us some more info, what model, year, the specific problem, and we'll do our darndest to figure it out.

Thanks, your reply was faster than it took for me to go to the top of the page and hit new posts, i'm impressed.

Are the Turbo front brakes any bigger than the N/A ones? off of a GL-10? thinking this might be a good upgrade if they are.

If you like the V6 in the Accord, you'd best be getting an outback with the Flat 6, 250 hp and similar torque numbers. There available in sedan and wagon formats, and the newer ones come with VDC, which is just fancy traction and stability control. Theres also the turbo models, but if you don't like turbo lag, or plan on getting an automatic i'd go with the 6, as with an auto box the 4 can be a bit slow, compared to a 6 at least, my dads forester auto with the 4 isn't bad.

Panter fan Austin, Austin Panther fan. now you've met. Austin's the type of person to drive through a lake. this isn't the first time either. -
Search the offroad forum, its all been covered there. There is a lift kit available, about 3 people make them, also in the Offroad forum.

I'm gonna venture to guess that you arn't off roading an Auto, but incase you are, you can pull the rear half of the drive shaft, 8 12mm bolts, and you'll be good to go.

Huzzah, its running again, it appears to be at the mercy of the voodoo queen, as i have no idea what i did to get it running again.
