EA82T won't budge by hand... FIXED!
NoahDL88 replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
There are two things that come to mind, either a bearing is fried or the rings are real tight. or what i'm thinking it is, that when it was torn down, coolant got onto the cylinder walls and rusted. I dunno about diesel, but i'd lube up your cylinders real well with oil, a good squirt in all 4 will help, you might also prime the oil pump real good so that once it starts running it gets oil there real quick. Also, i'd change the oil and filter after a hundred miles or so, checking frequently to make sure that surface rust hasn't become too heavy in your oil. -
how replace the steering wheel
NoahDL88 replied to offroadbryan's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It occurs to me that i read your post wrong. To get an aftermarket wheel on, you will have to get the adapter hub to make it work. -
I hate to be the one to tell you this, but they probably stopped production of all your body pannels about 3 months before they stopped building the Ute, and the last one off the line was the last complete set they had.

I don't think you can swap map to maf, unless you swap all the sensors, wiring and computer. if the donor engine is complete enough, you should be able to tell, map engines did not have maf's and they had the big box air filter behind the engine, the maf's had the filter before the MAF, near the fender on the passenger side.

how replace the steering wheel
NoahDL88 replied to offroadbryan's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I don't know about EA-81's but on the EA-82's the DL and GL horn circuit is different, and the connectors don't match up, its an easy fix, but its not straight bolt in. -
I've got the SSR's and would reccomend them, i'd also get them Sipped, they stop much better in rain and snow. They also theoretically last longer once the've been sipped.

brownie girl
NoahDL88 replied to johnnyk's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
By running i meant a running condition, my subies are she's when they run, and when they're broken they become he's -
Short answer, all of it. everything to make the engine run, the computer happy, and your gauges read will need to be done, if you plan on getting rid of the stock computer for body functions you will also need to integrate the body control functions.

brownie girl
NoahDL88 replied to johnnyk's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
Its quite simple, its a brown car, "brownie" and because its running its a she, so "girl" "Brownie Girl" if it wasn't running it would be "Brownie boy". -

Lets see..... Encinitas (San Diego) to Reno is 613 miles, about 8.5 hours, which is do-able for a long weekend, and my dad wants to "store" the water wagon at his place, although my mom, not so much. I guess once i get my perverbial crap together i might be up for a moonrocks run. leave a car in Cali with Michigan plates, could be a good time. We can bring Junkie too, if he can keep a subie running long enough

This is my jealous face. Once i get a skid plate for the 88 i'll have 2 offroaders, and i'll be getting some pictures too, i also hate the in the driveway pictures, especially if there mine.

Poll time: Digi or Manual dash cluster
NoahDL88 replied to thesubeguy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Keep the digi if it works, there will be someone soon that needs a working digi dash. I plan on setting up some kind of dash/intake manifold desk light using a 12V converter and some fiber optic strands. -
To everyone i know i'm "that roo guy" my friends think i'm nuts, but they respect me for it, especially once they see it in the snow, must have pulled out 100 cars in the last 3 years, and about 75 were in the school parking lot. All the "car guys" in my auto classes thought i was stupid, and always said i should prove my rig out at the "power lines" but strangely when ever i told them i was gonna be out there they had somthing else to do. My dad of all people wants the Water Wagon, he's not a car guy at all, but now even my mom is kinda frustrated at how much he talks about it. The 1 "non subie" person that i know that likes it, is a guy i went to school with, he has a cool old 92 dodge PU with a 360, we'd wheel all the time. I guess you could say i've rubbed off on people, 5 people have bought subies because of me.

The only one that looks really bad is #1 Exh. all the others look "normal" to me.

Weber Power Valve Disintagrated!!
NoahDL88 replied to FlyB0y's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Just about everywhere uses a 10% ethanol mix, they've been doing it for years, that shouldn't be the problem. -
The annual Hatch Patrol Christmas tree run
NoahDL88 replied to Qman's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Huzzah +1 Noah I don't think its gonna happen this year, Unless someone finds a horizon air, plane ticket for less than 50 bucks, with a return flight just as cheap. -
If you are sure you removed the screw, then just pull harder, sometimes they get stuck on.

Buying car in California
NoahDL88 replied to Subaru Jim Maple Ridge's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'm sure its the same as if you were buying a car in BC, you get a 30 day temporary from the provincial DMV and then you're clear to drive it up. -
True, the ER27 has more power than the EJ22, so thats a non issue, but the early legacy EJ22, which we are getting our engines from, the tranny spline is exactly the same, verified and checked myself.

Loosening stubborn oil drain plug...
NoahDL88 replied to leej323's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Tap the end of the plug, like you were driving a nail, not full blows, but some love taps, and then try and tighten it, but not a lot, then it should let go and free up. -
WCSS8 Where will it be?
NoahDL88 replied to Scott in Bellingham's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Could we have it in Michigan? its a long trip for me. -
Never mind, i had it in my head that Regina was in oz, along with the OZ in your screename. In North America, you can try a few places that will make them strong enough, TWB, or "Soobme" built the bumpers i have, and although i've never tested them they are more than stout. They used to be on his car, so maybe he has a testimonial that could go along with them. Mudrat79, Although at times his work can be painfully slow, he is an honest guy and his products are good quality. If you're in no rush, he's a good choice. Allied armament also has what you are looking for, although some of their early bumpers lacked the beef that is necessary, their newer models have many people happy.

I believe that the 4.11 gears are much more easily adapted to the EA tranny then the 4.44 as IIRC the 4.44 only came in autos
