  1. the EJ's are finicky when it comes to coolant RnR, make sure you burp it or it will over heat.
  2. You can build a baffle so that it pulls cold air instead of hot. a lot of people forget this step when they put that short ram setup on their hondar
  3. I believe that there is an adapter for the B13 Rotax motor that fits our MAF, although i caution you, a cone filter will only increase noise, not airflow. I flow benched a bunch of stuff back in college on our flow bench, and all values were within 3 cfm no matter what the filter setup.
  4. 9 times out of 10 the crack won't affect the head, all the ones i've pulled were cracked and still worked great.
  5. Once she's running, i'll see what i can do about making a trip down there to get your bumpers out of lock down.
  6. Congrats, you were more successful then my first attempt, i was stranded in Montana, 3 days for parts, and for figuring out that TDC was not where the flywheel needed to be aligned, finally got it running and it over heated, so at that point i let a mechanic fix it for me, 300 bucks later and i was on my way, made it into Seattle around 4 am the next morning. Definately deserves a beer, or 2.
  7. There are only 2 reasons why i would see it being a good idea to keep it: 1) offroading, if you don't then you dont' need it 2) Cooling, it might be affected by the removal of the plate, airflow around the engine and what not, take it off and go for a drive, if you dont' notice it any hotter then its a non issue.
  8. I Have a Tracking Number. I believe that calls for a dancing banana.
  9. Go wheel with the Hatch Patrol, you'll change your tune. Some of those guys have been wheeling longer than you've been alive. If it dosn't look so hard on video, its cause there so good they make it look easy.
  10. Thats why i posted today, well, he's got 22 hours or i'll just be wanting my money back.
  11. John, where are you? If phone, email and PM won't work, should i hire a sky writer, rent a billboard, anything?
  12. No problem, these cars are pretty bullet proof, i heard a dirty little rumor that an old man put his impreza into reverse on the highway. once it stopped skidding and the tow truck arrived, he just started it up and drove away. although i wouldn't reccomend that test.
  13. this is normal. if you read the owners manual there is a picture that shows where you can move the lever without the button.
  14. 1) I'm sure it could be stroked, but you'd have to find a rod that would work on your own, i don't know anyone thats stroked an EA-81 2) You might try www.ramengines.com they might have custom pistons, you won't be getting 10.5 with any subie pistons 2.5) You can mill the heads up to .030, any more than that and the intake won't fit anymore 3) for rings i'd contact either Ram /\ or Emily at CCR
  15. Talking with many serious subie enthusiasts, the #1 improvement on your subie should be handleing, I know, I know, you want it teh fastar, but trust me on this one, if you are doing anything SCCA or the like handleing will be your best dollar performance ratio, if you want to go teh fastar and impress the girls, just get a fart tip and be done. As far as go-fast goodies, i'd get a complete exhaust and the "perfect power" chip from Rallitek, and have them tune it for your exhaust mods.
  16. As Michigan as the base of operations First Subaru i picked up in Baltimore, over a weekend, there and back in 30 hours, with a 5 hour layover for sleep and food. 4th Subaru i picked up, was driven out from seattle by Austin, i picked it up from him in MSP, also a weekend trip. Spare engine, picked up in CT from Moosens, another weekend trip. 5th Subaru, picked up sight unseen from New Jersey, weekend trip. two summer trips to and from Seattle, every other trip i broke a timing belt, in Montana. All combined 11,680 miles And my most dedicated action, i'll be moving to seattle to be closer to the Hatch Patrol.
  17. those SSR's are the greatest tires ever. well not on ice, but other than that they are the best. I promise, you will love them.
  18. +1 Me, I told you. Congrats. You still want me to get the wiring schematics?
  19. Confirmed with the 87 FSM wagon/coupe/sedan.
  20. Stoopid question, you are doing the compression test with the throttle open yeah? as far as one bank being good and the other not, it would seem that one cam is either off a tooth, or it was ground wrong. i'd try sticking in some stock cams and see if that clears it up
