  3. I don't think the acronym for the Alaska Subaru Show would look to good on a shirt. i'd still wear it though its always good to get subie swag. So, are we thinking this winter, or next? Will this be mostly the "offroad" old school crowd, or will we be bringing the "nice bodied" aka New subies with? should i be getting a snowboard then? RolloverBratboy's wife has family/friends in Ketchican, which is another city where we could find help if need be. Ironically, i'm listening to CW Mcall's "convoy" its a sign. A sign that we will need handles, and i'm sure we all go by subie when were alone, so were gonna need to come up with new ones. I'm gonna shotgun "castle rat"
  4. No email yet, but i'm hoping it made it into the mail today

  6. Still needs the rack, this is getting rediculous. JK anyway, when you design this new snorkle, make it better than the other one. in its current configuration it pulls in rain so fast the car dosn't idle, i just took care of that, but not after a big rain storm, and when i say big, i drove the car on some city roads, in the middle of the city with water coming over the hood, it was nice passing the pretty boy hummers with a 25 year old furrin car. even drove around the cop who said the water was too deep, said i'd write my own ticket if i got stuck. i'm a cocky sob
  7. shoot, we could make it a TSD rally get stickers made up and everything, maybe even get subaru to sponsor it, somthing like "30 years of Subaru AWD" and have Subaru's from every era. might even get my dad involved, he's got a Forester, and i've got an 1980, so that takes care of new and old, but i'm sure repeats wouldn't be an issue, more new stuff the better eh? it would be 4800 miles round trip from Seattle to Anchorage and back. it could be the "subie 48 hundred"
  8. so you put on either a K&N air filter, or you put on and entire intake, either way you definately have a Vacuume leak, there is a hole on the intake that is letting in unmetered air behind the mass airflow sensor, this will cause the engine to stall. which i believe 99% is your problem.
  9. new update, the adapter plate should be shipped by tomorrow, so here's hoping.

  11. Probably the same way i know, oh man can that be frustrating if you gotta be somewhere soon and the car dosn't run.
  12. Subaru builds and tests their engines with Castrol, logic would dictate that for maximum life and dependability Castrol would be your best bet.
  13. there is a writeup somewhere, you will need a custom propeller/driveshaft. although shipping may nix the idea, there is a guy, a Jerry i believe that makes kits to put the 5spd into the EA-81 chassis.
  14. check for vacuume leaks, happens to me every once in a while, some of the big hoses, when they fall off the plastic intake tube will stall the motor real quick.
  15. down shift, let the engine do the brakeing. its not uncommon for brake fade on long down hill stretches. at high altitudes its even worse cause there is less air to dissipate the heat.
  16. Oh man this really sounds cool, i've made many road trips but never left the lower 48, 3x seattle and back, every car i get is from at least 12 hours away. so anyway, i'm totally in. and if we can co-ordinate it with the SKA and maybe do some off roading AK style, maybe some hiking, biking, i dunno if thats the route you were thinking i'm just planting the seeds.
  17. EA-82 wheels will fit on EA-81's but EA-81's will only fit on the rear of EA-82's some EA-81's will fit on the front of EA-82's but i don't know which ones.
  18. every thing moves in 2 and 4wd, but in 4wd there is power to the driveshaft, obviously. even in 2wd the shaft will spin, so if you have worn out U-joints they will make noise.
  19. My mom just sent me this email from her friend: July 4 weekend I was leaving town to goto Ohio, in my newSubaru, and I got rear-ended on one of the busystreets in Ann Arbor. The picture is of the truck that hit me - now, to be fairto him, the bumper wasnot crushed in the accident, that happened when he gottowed - but thebumper WAS off at an angle, and his fender was crushed. And then you see mySubaru, and how it looked (of course the body work DIDcome to ~$3000). But folks at the accident (we tied up traffic on thismajor street for about 45min!) were ALL commenting about how there was so little damage to the Subaru, and that it must be a tank. So I thought that was amusing, given how you described Noah's support of all things Subaru. Anyway, my car is fixed now and looks as good as new, which I am glad about, because it seemed too sad to have a car accident when you only have ~4500 miles on the car. Subaru for Teh win!!
  20. once you get the dog bone disconnected, jack the front of the transmission up about 3-4 inches, that will clear the engine mounts from the crossmember.
  21. I would highly reccomend talking with the AK croud, breaking down on the ALCAN is often deadly. it would certainly be fun though shoot, if i'm around and you need a wingman let me know
  22. Austin, here's some action shots, and an Alaskan for good measure
  23. I could put the EA-81 in again, but that engine has given me no love, so i'd like to avoid that eventuality. as far as a "trip" to seattle I may not be able to make it to WCSS8, but if i'm not there i still want one of the stable there. So, if the adapter plate gets here, i may drive out the 88 wagon in the spring and leave it with Rolloverbratboy, so he can bring it to the show in my absence. However, after the summer, i will be in Seattle permanent style.
