  1. I've never offroaded a turbo, but i've driven enough turbo's to know that i'd rather not have one offroad, the lower compression means its a dog until the turbo comes on, which means no crawling. when the turbo comes on it comes on hard, which may offset the delicate ballance of traction and momentum. if you're looking at more of a rock runner, when you have higher rpm and are using an auto tranny, it would work better, but for the typical "Hatch Patrol" type stuff, i can't see a turbo being an advantage. I guess in the end it all boils down to personal preference.
  2. It seems a lot of the guys that do the swap leave on a whole buch of stuff that isn't needed, according to the kennedy adapter wiring harness write up, you need a whole lot less, which means down the road there will be a whole lot less to go wrong.
  3. 95 may be ok, because its pre OBD II, but it may not be as good, don't know 100%
  4. the benifit of the older EJ22's is that they don't require a vehicle speed sensor, which makes the swap infinately easier.
  5. I would caution you, some HLVA's caps are staked, so they are not serviceable, i know they came in some 88's i don't know if there an older thing or a newer thing.
  6. He's not leaving until the beginning of October, so i think we'll be fine.

  8. as long as they are both SPFI or carby, it shouldn't be a problem, gotta swap flywheel and clutch though, but that shouldn't be a problem. if one is a spfi and the other is carbed, the only thing needing swapping would be the distributor and the intake, with all its wires, hoses and the like.
  9. That red mud, is that in Minnesota? thats crazyness. can't be fun to clean off you or your car eh?
  10. Seeing as how the last who's who was started in May, last year. I figured taht it would be a good time to start up the Offroad 2005 Same deal, Offroad Pics only, lets see if we can keep the pictures off the driveway. Both sporting the PK-OZified lift kits and the D/R 5 speed
  11. Hydraulic Valve Lash Adjuster not a source, but try this on for size http://homepage.powerup.com.au/~camncath/ea82_hydraulic_lifter_fix.htm Unless you actually need more, this is more for the TOD Thats Tick of Death, for the acronym challanged
  12. Its been 4 days, i have until the 20th, just need the confirmation number on the adapter plate, and the clutch, then i'll be good to go, i think, well hope rather.

  14. My concern for your 2wd only is that in any kind of weather, dry included, hooking up and getting traction is hard with all the extra power, 4wd has come in real handy on hills and rainy roads.
  15. I had the clunk problem, turned out it was 175's on the front and 185's on the rear, you might check that out too.
  16. a lighter flywheel will make the engine more prone to stalling under heavy load at low rpm, exactly the conditions where you want to keep momentum up and not stall. the larger inertial energy of the heavy flywheel will help keep the engine going when a lighter flywheel would not. Its not that you can't use it, myself, i wouldn't.
  17. Yeah, that wiring will get improved, once the 88 EJ swap is complete. i don't really want to mess with it right now, it works so i leave it alone.
  18. Shalom, Welcome If the pictures are already on the net you can copy and paste.
  19. If you're off roading, a lighter flywheel is the last thing you want.
  20. I would worry about moving the flywheel back, but then again, it could be fine, would definately be nicer to use the EJ clutch components than an EJ-EA hybrid
  21. not a bad price for a 95, but i'm in detroit, and the best subaru mechanic in big rapids was me when i was there. I do come up rather frequently to visit friends a Ferris, next time i'm up there i'll let you know, if you wanna hit the power lines in an off road subie.
