RX approaching 'ultimate' status....
NoahDL88 replied to WJM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'm with Corky and Turbone, The "Ultimate RX" whereabouts unknown, does sport as Turbone says a JDM WRX turbo drivetrain, i'm pretty sure that could beat an STi on track day. That RX has had the Ultimate name for over 3 years. -
two different mickey mouse gaskets?
NoahDL88 replied to subarubuddy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
My first impression would be that the difference in size would be because of a turbo or not, but thats the best i can come up with. -
the RX is a relatively rare car, but there should be a few in colorado, more there than in Michigan, but i've not seen any here, so i guess that's not saying much. the low range on those trannys is less than the NA DR, 1.19 as opposed to 1.52, so if you're pushing big tires its not a good idea, unless you swap the low ranges, but you still have the 3.7, which is still not so good, unless you do a lot of highway.

EJ swap from an automatic - wiring help needed
NoahDL88 replied to 88HatchMonster's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
apparantly its only about 35 more wires, and you can remove all of them, i'm 99% sure. try the adapter "kit" from kennedy engineering, they have a very nice print out to make it real easy. -

the legacy flywheel dosn't have a step, so its not deep enough, so it won't work, unless you have another way to start the car besides the starter.

Just an observation, on the "old school" subaru brat t-shirt, take a look at the hood ornament. its the post 1990 design. Just putting that out there, I did get my second year subscription, not gonna let a little hood ornament stop me.

Michigan Meet And Greet
NoahDL88 replied to NoahDL88's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
I'm down in Detroit now, no longer close by in big rapids. But i'm sure we could get a meet going, somtime around the october Lake superior Pro Rally. -
Well, maybe. Whats missing? Could it be an ADAPTER PLATE Its not here Its not here either Along with a few other projects, spanning 25 years of subaru engines, spot the EA-81 And heres somthing you can't do on the first date And the next time this car comes out of the garage, it will be under its own power, for the first time in 2 years. So if this works, fingers crossed, i should be clear to make a trip out to seattle, first rounds on me. EDIT: Depending on the story i keep getting, its either finished, in the garage ready to ship, in the car ready to go to the post office, theres a small problem with the flywheel, or my guess, its not done and never will be. I'm now taking bets, on what day it will arrive, closest year gets a prize.

Huzzah for trivial info. The legacy clutch, the friction material, fits onto the splines on the EA tranny. As far as thickness and diameter i have not checked that. but i do know a guy that is using a legacy clutch in his 1988 GL-10, so that said, could be a good upgrade, even better than the XT-6 maybe, or in conjuction with the XT-6 pressure plate and the Legacy clutch. Just puttin that out there.

I'm with the Snowman, i'm almost done with my EJ22 conversion, and if i can figure out the wiring, than anyone can.

Theres a guy in CO i believe that has the 4.11 gears in the old D/R. Once i have the time and parts, i'm gonna try to get 4.44, why stop at 4.11, and the 1.59 low range all stuffed into a RX AWD tranny, that way you have the diff lock, and the awd when you don't need full on 4WD. I digress, yes, its been done, but he's not tellin, which is a shame. (I believe machining may have been involved)

looks better than the last time i saw it.

Let me know when you're ready to off road the brown beast again, and i'll get you a new clutch
-
I am square with Mudrat. if you need him give him a call, worked like a charm. the 88 will ride again.

Having driven multiple lifted subaru's with and without sway bars, in emergency situations its a good thing to have, i'd highly reccomend keeping it on and just disconnecting one end when you want the extra flex.

Clean off the connectors, that will go a long way at getting brighter lights. some times its the simple things.

Thats funny that you got your plate so soon, i've been waiting for mine for 6 months, and was promised mine at the WCSS7.

Austin, the rear plate is Michigan, its registered don't worry. Yeah that rut was way decieving and the mud was clay, not easy to dig through at all.
