  1. It's prolly no tougher to make it slide than in an EA subaru with all that positive camber. Hard jab on the brakes at turn-in corrects all that though, on almost any car. With the short little wheelbase the Justy has, I'd think it be pretty easy to slide and spin. Any comments on that from the Justy owners here?
  2. Agreed. Should be fun. Keep us posted. Like I said, I like Justys. They are kind of like the red-headed step child of Subaru. I like redheads.
  3. so you'd need to be at around 120 hp at 1600 lbs weight w/o driver. Just under 14 lbs per hp, right? I think there is a guy in Toronto who comes on here sometimes, that got one to 150 hp pretty easily. It did involve a piston swap, though. I think he was using MOTEC management, too. Can the tranny/clutch handle all that?
  4. ....and with a turbo setup even at a modest psi level it'd whoop a lot more than 80's N/A Soobs! Have fun! Post some video if you can.
  5. Will: Glad you finally got the plates made! I cant wait to see pics and hear the tales of what they do the the car's handling. C'mon.....finish it!
  6. That's one of the coolest Justys I've seen. I like those little buggers....kinda like a Starlet (81 Toyota) w/4wd. They are totally underrated for autocross, even here in the Older Scoob community. And due to the different classing system up there in Canada, they are frequently competitive at the National level of rally. Looks like a fun project you've got there. What does the thing weigh, like 1700 lbs? I bet its a blast to toss around!
  7. Did any of you guys see this yet? Pretty cool idea. I have not yet tried to use it, will do so later on today. http://techinfo.subaru.com/html/index.jsp
  8. OK, I get the stomper name thing now. I'm good with that, knowing it has a scoob origin. It wouldnt have been a big deal, anyway. Let us know after you get settled in, and get to start planning an outing. Hopefully I'll have a new rig by then. If not I'll just have to come in the WRX, or bring my neighbor in the Suzuki. My email is in my profile. Good luck on the trip down here!
  9. I think all governments do that at times, that's why I support anarchy. OK, someone needs to cut me off. I've been overserved. Thanks again for the link.
  10. Thanks for the link. This gives me one more thing to add to my "good things about Canada" list. It'll be right up there with: 1. Hockey, and Don Cherry 2. Strip Clubs 3. Vast natural beauty(ies) 4. Our Lady Peace 5. Great pipe bands (seriously) 6. Prince Edward Island 7. Bryan Adams 8. Excellent classing system for rally cars OK, kidding on the Bryan Adams thing. I'm a couple 'O beers into the evening, what can I say.:eh:
  11. TEN? Wow. I've been kinda sorta looking for a nice one forever. Ever see any with little/no rust? Maybe I need to take another trip to Canada. Is there a link for a good auto classifieds online, where I might be able to see some of them?
  12. Lol, that's pretty funny. Well, I think I'd need the tach. Maybe I should hold out for a GL then. thanks for your help.
  13. No rust at all. It's a CA car. A few dings in drivers side door tho. The car is in VA now. Honestly you'd be NUTS to trade a rare Turbo Legacy for it. I was only half serious. I would imagine the body kit parts would be pretty tough to find.....just were not that many RX coupes around. You could always buy from dealer, but way $$$$$$. Some of the RX guys on the board would know where to get used ones from the PAP yards. The one other major benefit you get with an ACTUAL RX is the full time 4wd. The pre-RX is front drive, or 4wd with locked diff. Fun on dirt but NOT on the street in 4wd mode. I think the RX is also lighter, and had better struts, springs, sways.
  14. Thanks Zapar. I was just looking at the Subaru 80's brochures, and I think I get it now: The DL's all had round lights and the GL has single squares. Any idea what you get on the GL that did not come on the DL? Any reason NOT to buy an 82 DL?
  15. I bet you'd know this: I'm also looking at an 82 wagon right now, and it has 2 round headlights. Did they have round and square HL styles all at the same time on wagons?
  16. Gamma-corrected the picture? And you could see all THAT? Whoa. That's very interesting info. I found out for sure it is a 2wd. Not sure if it is an ea71; I did not go over to look at it due to the 2wd. Decided I dont wanna mess with a swap right off the bat! Tranny tunnel: Weird. Why would they go to the trouble of making floor pans and firewalls with two different size tunnels? Lifters: That's great info....thanks.
  17. ok, thanks for the info. Good luck next year. (And the rest of this one too).
  18. I love those little buggers, but I'm still trying to learn what can be done to them, mainly in suspension area. Who did the suspension work.....where'd the struts come from? One problem we have down here is the classing of the car. There is no P1 1400cc so its tough to make it competitve in P or PGT. I dont think it can run in Gp2 due to it having 4wd. I prefer the classing you guys have. Hey do you know those kids from Quebec in the vids? I found those very entertaining. Not a lot of Justy footage out there...especially on snow.
  19. I'm sorry I dont have the answer to your question. But I do have a question for you: How has the Justy been performing in PROrally class? I've often been tempted to buy one for rallycross, but I dont know as much about them as the other Scoobs. What were you able to do to beef up the suspension? Has it been fragile? What weight are you running it at? BTW here are some vids I like with some good Justy rally footage on snow. You may even know these kids if you have raced out east.....they are from Quebec. Looks like they are having a lot of fun. The vids are middle way down the page, of Lachute rally, under the "Musicplus" banner. You'll want to FF thru all the talking......in French. The Justy footage is in the middle section of the videos. Warning, they are long. http://www.abikeonline.com/24rallyteam/photos.html Good luck getting the answer on final drive ratio.
  20. I'm in Orange county, but I get out to the desert areas frequently. Blythe, CA, which is not too far from you (on the border) is a great area.....lots of trails and dirt rds around there. Needles, too. I dont' know the AZ side trails nearly as well. I only have the WRX right now, as I recently gave the 86 to my son. But, I take that out there too. Currently shopping for an 80-84 hatch or wagon to build up just for trails and dirt. When are you moving down? One suggestion if I may: "Stompers" sounds a tad Jeepish to me. Are you open to talking about that at all?
  21. I'll trade you a pre-RX '86 Turbo Coupe 4wd D/R white for the Legacy turbo. Deal?
  22. You've GOTTA SAY, those were some very cool posts from your new-found Rubicon friends. Very cool indeed.
  23. Yes, I was talking about the first pics you posted as well as others on that 4x4 site, toybuilder. Having said that, I also enjoyed bushbasher's pics, and would love to see pics of a Scoob making it up that crack like the Jeeps and Samurai. Stock or not, that would be pretty impressive.
  24. By the way, how capable are the Suzuki's off road, as crawlers? There is a guy here in my complex who has one, looks like it is set up for that.
