1979 Brat Exhaust Question
kingwill replied to Demon Brat's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
I found a 79 brat in a yard in Eugene a few yrs ago, that had dual pipes, and the dual intake which of course I snagged. I have not had the time to install them. But the y pipe was cut out its straight pipe from each head to the rear of truck, there are a few supports that bolt up along the journey of the pipe. I thought it would be cool to run the dual exhaust, with the dual intake, and dual webbers. But I ran out of time and money, And it just may be over kill for the little 1600cc that is in there. -

Brat parts - what to keep off of a parts car
kingwill replied to eknomf's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Other good parts are front fenders, windshield, If you have a A-bar or roll bar or some other parts like rear seats, rear seat belts, even the the rear seat bracket. (you may need to cut that out). Tail lights and blinkers. If the trans is good. and hey the engine is good too if you have the space. -
1980 1600 single range high milage ???? $300 and 500 Hotwheels Right now tranny is blown 2nd time. Waiting for replacement.

I want to paint my car any suggestions?
kingwill replied to kingwill's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
I had to change the design so I did not get sued. A little known thing called copywrite infringment. Oh by the way I added more pics of what it looks like now..... Or before the color fadded and the paint ran in some areas. And the problem with adding more and more paint is that it cracks a lot and just looks bad. I wanted to paint it a solid neon green and get magnetic graphics placed on the car that I can remove and change around when needed. -
I have gone to macco to get an est. on painting my brat. They quoted me 1350.00 :-\ (Right now it has been painted with spray paint) Spray paint fades in the direct sunlight and smudges with the rain at times even with clear coat. Does anyone know where I can go that may be a little cheaper, but still get a good paint job and real clear coat?

kingwill replied to Crabman's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
I have a set of the 15's alloy. The tires are shot, I was quoted at a tire shop American Discount Tire) $1200 for the tires alone. (wtf?) I really like the alloys but can't afford the tires. Any suggestions? -
I asked Richie live, he stated that the electric would be the best.

I am upgrading my 80' brat and soon my 80' wagon to a webber carb. I really do not know much about the carb itself. Which one should I be in the market for. that will give me the best performance. 32/36 DGV A5 (manual) 32/36 DGEV (electric) 32/36 DGAV (water) 32/36 DFEV (electric/reverse)

Might have found an 80 brat Finaly!? Have ?'s
kingwill replied to biffanyus's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
There's carpet in the bed? That's strange. anyway are you looking to make it a classic, all the original parts and stuff? Or are you going to fix it and use it as a dailly driver, or just for goofing around with it. Also How rare are these brat's in your area. If you wait for the next best thing, how long will you have to wait? I know over here (west coast) they pop up every few months. $300 bucks is not much to pay even if the car is peiced together it still a brat? you can always find more parts at a later date. not to offten can you find the car/truck (brat) Pics would be very helpful, to see what ammount of rust the owner is talking about. There are always ways to fix or repair rust unless it is a pile of rust dust on the ground. Are you needing to tow this or can you drive it back the 8 hrs trip? -
update I did go to the auction but did not win. I only had 150.00 max to go on and it sold for 200.00:mad: It did not go to a suby fan it went to some young guy that wanted to thrash on it more. The wagon was extremely rusty and the interior was trashed. The pugs had oversized tires with really good tread. If only I was working and had more doe
