  1. Update. The waste gate arm moves back and forth. Car still won't go past 4k
  2. As some of you know I sold my beloved first car, my lifted and swapped wagon. I was in a rush to sell it so I could scoop this up. It has lots of recent work done including timing belts, headgaskets, water pump, etc etc. Also has a full straightpipe. Sounds extremely good. But it does have a boost leak, thats why I picked it up so cheap. But I drove it 2 hours home and it did fine. Came with lots of extra goodies, including full 5x100 swap. can't wait to start this build.
  3. So this little arm I assume is the wastegate control? the silver piece on the side of the turbo, connected to the actuator that has 2 vacuum lines on it. should I be able to move this back and forth when the car is off? What line would i want to pull at the controller?
  4. The vacuum line from the turbo? I don't have any experience with turbo cars so I don't really know where the turbo specific stuff is located
  5. Oh also after I hold it at 4-5k rpm for a couple seconds it dies when I pop out in neutral if that helps anything.
  6. So I picked up an 87 rx its sweet! Other than this problem I am having diagnosing boost issues. car runs fine, but when I get in to boost it won't go past 4-5k rpm. Boost gauge only reads 1-2lb. Owner said he replaced the headers and I don't see any cracks in the header. Someone said the wastegate might be stuck open? I think it's a vf7 turbo. How can I check that without removing the turbo itself? Any help appreciated. Thanks
  7. Can't believe I sold it! This car is no longer mine if you want to follow the build more here is his instagram: https://instagram.com/crumley6969/ It was a pretty good run I had with this beast. I enjoy the time I spent building it and fixing it. Especially the people I met through owning this car. I have another old school lined up to buy so keep your eye out for a new post by me in "members rides" this weekend.
  8. so once you finish building all my dream cars I get to keep them right?
  9. Sometimes I just look through this thread and cry
  10. Jes, He just set this up so he could show off his brake/wheel setup.
  11. Patrick helped me sort out the situation where it wouldn't turn off with my key! big thanks to him, skyping with me walking me through it in his free time. Temporarily wired my fan to a switch, going to try to take it out tomorrow.
  12. super frustrated by it not shutting off with my key and having to pull the connection on the battery...Can't find what the problem could be. Also fan is not turning on when it gets hot....which is another thing that bugs me.
  13. i hooked them up to the stock fan plugs in the ECU. hopefully they turn on now. I want to test it but have no way of telling if it is overheating except common sense.
  14. Runs, seems to smoke out the passenger side exhaust, where the header gets bolted on...Not sure why...oil dripping out down the headers too......smells pretty bad. It's having a hard time cooling as well. fans arent kicking on.
  15. did some research, apparently the subaru is 1/8 British national pipe thread and the sender is 1/8 npt. wondering if its the same case for the water temp sender. cant find much on that
  16. Got these digital gauges for oil pressure and water temp for my ej22 swap. wondering where to connect each sender unit. Using the EJ radiator if that helps. Anyone done anything similar?
  17. sorry to bump an old thread, wondering if the CRX pillar will fit with the automatic seatbelt setup the Loyale has. I assume these pillar recommendations are for a model without automatic seatbelts?
  18. My old clutch, pretty toast. Redrilled the flywheel. drill press worked just fine Engine in! hopefully more progress this week.
  19. came home with the donor car today...almost want to just keep it as a daily. 1996 subaru legacy L 5 spd ej22 246k miles Phase 2 runs & drives great.
  20. I really enjoy the ride. I can see that it sits higher in the front which is nice because before my car was really raked in the back from the honda springs. It rides smooth as well.
  21. Would have gone harder but I needed to drive it home. Need a flat bed if im going to do that again
