Funny noise on acceleration?
nick1208 replied to nick1208's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yeah it does it when i pull out. taking a right up a big hill I will hear some funny noises. Maybe time for a new axle? -
Yup! Here you go ( http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/143010-nicks-94-loyale-build/ ) . Check your rear diff you might already have a 3.9...i did. Interior pieces aren't necessary, just nice to have, mine aren't even secured (only because i dont have all the pieces lol). The tires are nice. check out the 6 lug re-drill. You're going to want to consider this if you want to get into wheeling, unless you can find some 14 or 15" pugs. I did a 4" lift. It's my daily and I wish I would have gone bigger! 4" gives me enough off road versatility while keeping my car practical enough to drive every day. The tranny won't make a difference in the MPG, it's the same exact tranny, just with a hi/lo option instead of the regular 4wd. I always complain about my MPG but it's probably because I'm driving my car for 1-3 hours a day. hope this helps.

My loyale has recent started making this clunking sound when I accelerate from a stop. It almost sounds like the axles are slipping? Anyone else heard similar noises? Doesn't really sound like a bearing but could be. Sorry i don't really know how to describe it.

It's a good idea. When I took a look at my diff I noticed the breather had so much gunk built up around it. Let me know how this turns out, I might want to do something similar.

Dipping your car is actually more popular than you would think. My stripe on my car is plasti-dipped and its only about 2 coats. It's been on for almost a year now and it hasnt faded or peeled at all. To do a good job on your dip to do a whole car I would price it at about 200 bucks. you can buy a black 5 gallon bucket for about 180. Fill in the rest with the stuff from the can if there is anymore. I'm thinking about doing it to my whole car over the summer.

Off topic from my build thread but it looks like I'll be attending Washington State University in the fall of 2014! Go cougs. College should be fun but I'm going to miss my car. Not taking it for the first year so I don't have to bum people rides and such.

thanks. Yeah I get a lot of people turning their heads at school, looking at the kid with mismatched body panels, and the car that makes funny noises. But I love it! no better feeling than walking out to a car you paid for, you built, and when something goes wrong, you know where it is. I believe I'm having more fun with it than the kids at my school who's parents buy them BMW's and they put wheels and coils on it and call it "Built" but hey to each their own.

I'm looking into getting some 15's with bigger tires that are wider, just thought i'd do this in the meantime,

So the spacers I got in the mail turned out to be 1" rather than the 2" I expected. So i figured why not and threw them on. I like it!

She kept referring to it as my battlewagon because of the sticker i have on the back. reddit.com/r/battlewagon is where that is from. I don't plan on owning much else other than old schools now that I'm into them they're great! and thanks man means a lot!
