87 GL 1, Civic 0
Flowmastered87GL replied to Flowmastered87GL's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
the adjuster called my parents... The car is "totaled" Meaning.... they should pay me off (he he I can fight for a $2000+ value cause of the new parts and mods) Then I can buy it back for afew hundred bucks and lift it See related thread... please tell me what my car is worth in your opinion (like what you would pay for it if the crash didnt happen AND you had the money hypothetically) -

I'm not referring to your RX specifically, just those that end up doing the 5 lug conversion and end up with the lower stiffer stance due to the XT6 components... I always think its interesting to see what people will to do their soobs. I think the trashwagon was at the top of my list of most "interesting" cars -
lowering the wagon
Flowmastered87GL replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You will understand when you see the final beer wagon... Why does a person get praise from lowering an RX (which is 4wd) but is given crap for lowering a 4WD wagon??? :cornfuzz: Russ is doing something VERY unique and I give him this... -
Yep thats right, I creamed a civic after work today. I was going... hmmm 35, they turned left in front of me... I was able to skid to about 10-15 MPH before hitting them. 100% their fault, left turn is supposed to yield to oncoming traffic. So what does this all mean? My drivers fender has a slight bend to it, no sharp crease though, I actually kicked it back in at the scene (but pulled it back out when I got home so the body shop makes and accurate estimate) The bumper is a little wrinkled and the black trim on the fender got loosened a bit. Basically all I need to do is fit on a mudrat front bumper and kick the fender once and its fixed... Maybe I can milk enough insurance money from the other party to get front and rear bumpers from John Or maybe I will buy andrew a white bumper for his turbowagon and put his black bumper on my car. Oh ya, the civic REALLY needs a new front bumper, my bumper left a dent like 2 inches deep in it and like a foot wide So the suby won... the right front fender gets a Civic bogey sticker for this one... Hondas beware!! Both parties were uninjured

EA82T gas millage?
Flowmastered87GL replied to trooperjeep's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hmmm my 87 GL with a weber gets like 10 MPG in rallycrosses, 20 MPG delivering pizza, 25 MPG normally and 30 MPG on the highway. My 86 GL (auto trann and hitachi with CA emissions) got like almost 35 MPG Both my turbowagons got 25ish on the highway I think. The only time I really got below 20 MPG was when my carb was running WAY rich..... below 20 doesnt sound right.... -
Weber Installation - Choke, PS problem
Flowmastered87GL replied to skeet's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have a 180 degree turned carb.... I put the throttle mount in some other holes in the intake manifold... I actually had to shorten the cable as it comes up from the bottom of the carb, then loops around the throttleplate thing along the front up to the top. I used one of the plates where you can just pass a cable through and tighten a screw down on the cable to keep it in there. I tried keeping the cable long but it wouldnt work, it had to be bent too much and it bound up. Sorry I dont have any pics of it -
HELP ME!! questions ea82 wagon
Flowmastered87GL replied to MaroonDuneDoom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I think there are little plates on each side of the tailgate opening (close to the upper corner of the taillights) they should slide up and down a bit... (down when the gate is closed) I think if you push them BOTH down the lights should go off. -
The brat now has green fenders to match the hood (look a little less like a pool table than the hood... Zap knows what I am talking about) It also finally has the new speaker I got from Rick (generaldisorder) installed... woo hoo music Still havn't gotten the 3rd eye working, we are thinking of swapping the relay then seeing how it works.

Engine color? Requests wanted.
Flowmastered87GL replied to JonOfScio's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Use the blue color I have on my intake (I showed it to you in front of andrews house... its kind of a rally blue... i think its either old ford blue or new ford blue... old I think....) Anyway do the block that color with a yellow intake.... (kinda like the subaru rally colors or something) -

why dont people transfer titles?
Flowmastered87GL replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hmmmm of all the projects ive had.... The 86 GL I titled in my name (it needed tags and my permanant address is DEQ exempt ) The 86 GL-10 I titled in my name as I had it for months and months The 87 GL-10 I got a trip permit and let Bratcrazy take care of titling it (why waste money on an Oregon title for a trip to Utah?) The 98 Impreza I will probably let the buyer title it, but I will pay the fees (just a timesaver thing) The 88 GL I did not title because I only had it for 1.5 months to rebuild the engine on weekends. The 82 Brat has the title from 2 owners ago :brolleye: My 87 is titled to my parents even though I paid for half of it... fine with me though cause they do pay my insurance -
We didnt get that far, we started with the front end. What we accomplished: Cutting off the bottoms of the fenders (took them off and cleaned behind them, like 3 pounds of crap was back there) Took out fender liners, trimmed sides of valance to the outside of the frame rails, trimmed everything below the fender cut on teh valance (so only the center remains pretty much) Pretty much now the only thing below the bumper in front of the tire is open air The skid plate and engine undertrays have been pulled off as has the wiper cowl (gonna prep and paint that tomorrow) Got the right turn signal rewired and flashing again, the 3rd eye installed and wired, but it still doesnt work :cornfuzz: Lots of rust back there I broke plenty of bolts, but once I'm done it will be good and solid again

YAY! My lift is in! - UPDATE - Installed the Tires today!
Flowmastered87GL replied to GeneralDisorder's topic in Off Road
So when do the big gnarly tires go on?? That rear end stuff makes me kinda wish I had gone the mudrat route on my brat.... oh well, maybe on the next one I get lifted :-\ -
I plan to go over to Jasons house thursday to do whatever I can manage to the 82 brat... maybe fix some rust damage, maybe bob the tail, almost certainly trim and prime (maybe paint) the front fenders. install the 3rd eye..... clean the interior... so anyone in the area that hasnt seen it want to see the $500 rusty beast?? If so get ahold of me before 4PM PM me for my phone #

Car fax anyone?
Flowmastered87GL replied to richierich's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I've always been lucky enough to hit free ones for my 87 GL, 86 Gl-10, 87 Gl-10, and Brat... now I just need to FIND the brat's carfax.... sorry.... I may be willing to toss in like $5 to get a report on my impreza if you buy an unlimited 1 month pass though -
I may have the old carb to my 87 laying around... not sure if its rebuildable or not, I got really bad mileage with it.

There's a red light...
Flowmastered87GL replied to ocsike74's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Actually on my turbowagon I had a brake bulb MISSING and the light would flash with the turn signal SOMETIMES. Try figuring that one out :cornfuzz: -
EA82 Bumper removal
Flowmastered87GL replied to TROGDOR!'s topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yep just remove 4 bolts from the engine bay. Removing the battery DOES make it easier. Its a little harder when the bumper is tweaked like 10 degrees (my 86 battlewagon) -
