  1. I can pretty much guarantee that will be totaled, my GL took a hit WAY more mild than that and they said it was $1200 in damage and totaled it out. I swapped the front bumper, kicked the fender (it just had a tiny bow to it that the kick fixed) and was back on the road for like $75 including title stuff. Oh and this was back in 2004 or so.
  2. Ya... I loved my EA82... but I swear I put almost $7000 into it to get only 100K miles out of it. I am FAR less than that into my Baja.
  3. To do the oil pump, yes the timing belts must come off. To do the WATER pump, no.
  4. Good they have the most critical step on there (that some manuals miss) Do the drivers side belt with the cam mark pointing up. Then turn the engine 360 degrees, then do the passenger side with cam pointing up. Some manuals neglect to say to turn the engine over once.
  5. I went to the auto parts store and just bought vacuum plugs. They are just little rubber caps. The vacuum keeps em on. But make sure they are a snug fit.
  6. Once you weber it you will ditch most of the hoses. You can see the vacuum line to the HVAC controls and the PCV lines and not much else in the pic. No more EGR or Evaporation canister. (this is my car at WCSS 5)
  7. If they look the same... just paint them.... it may be tough to find a shop willing to do it, but if you don't change the number and restore their legibility... go for it yourself.
  8. You know you have been here a long time if you know who owned that car (and the fate of it) Answer: If I recall its The Subaru Junkies car (Brian) And I THINK this is the one that got towed away?? (or its replacement)
  9. Calmasters are the shiznit Look at that body roll Yes this is me around the era of WCSS3 or so.
  10. Ha ha that song is awesome "So I sitting at a traffic right"
  11. I'm game.... I live a few blocks away from the Rogue Ale house on NW 14th and Flanders:D I agree that both the 510 and the Brat are pimp
  12. I pull the engine personally... in my opinion if you know the engine in your car is otherwise good, I would pull it, reseal it and put it back in. If you find something bad (like metal in the oil pan) then fall back on the friends engine. Of course make sure you do both head gaskets even if only one is leaking.
  13. Its a little pipe... the pipe actually comes up above the plane of the top of the intake / carb base. (in other words if you want to JB weld it shut someday for a weber you have to dremel down the pipe a little... well when its not corroded away.)
  14. It wouldn't hurt to have the alternator tested too... make sure its putting out enough juice. My tach bounced in my GL when the alternator was on its way out (though not with any involvement from the signal) But still... most parts stores will test it free.
  15. I saw one of these woody EA82's in person WAY back about 10 years ago in a wrecking yard.... I never thought I would see another one
  16. Keep a mileage log somewhere inside... like on your computer. Unless they pull the speedo cable you will know pretty quick.
  17. You likely have tried it, but since you did not mention it.... did you check your fuses??
  18. Ha, I assume the window was rolled down and the ice remained... so it was chuck norris'ed out.
  19. Ha ha, I laughed at that snowman in the jumpseat. Thats the best idea EVER!
  20. My Baja is torqued to 89 pounds of torque (I had been doing 90 and Costco spec'ed 89 when they did my tires so thats where I do it now) However its not a GL.
  21. I suppose its possible that the little pin that holds on the clutch cable sheared, but I more likely suspect the cable. Mine broke on my GL (back when I had it) 7+ years ago. so age-wise yours is overdue if its original. You can always take the clutch pedal off its pivot (remove the nut from the end and it slides off) to get a better look. Crawling under the dash is not fun. I think it took me around an hour to install my cable (Get a new one if its indeed the cable broken) (as oppsed to a junkyard one which may break any day)
  22. I took my Baja to Firestone in Vancouver and had "hondasucks" (his real name is Andrew) do a lifetime alignment on it. Its near SR500 and Andresen.
