Reveal yourself!

You should have told us you were here. I woulda liked to meet you :-p Looks like about SE 12th and Hawthorne. I remember that car, a customer of Richie sold it someone who may or may not be here on the board. -
How many miles can it go?
Flowmastered87GL replied to Todd GT5's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
I don't see the benefit of the low miles personally. My mom has a 1996 outback sport with 84K on it and the tranny is having some issues. Had it been driven more and had like 150K highway miles, it would probably be running better. I would just keep your car (assuming its a normal rust free oregon car) and replace parts as needed. When the engine dies, put in a CCR Rebuilt one, when the tranny dies, rebuild it or replace it. Over time you will need your struts, suspension bushings etc, but no reason to get rid of a car you know is decent for one with less miles that may or may not be in as good of shape. -
My new Project: Leone Turismo

Wow, interesting taillights on that blue wagon. In the US the top of the light is orange, then a big red middle and the white on the bottom. -

If it was NOT your daily I would say go for it. But being your daily, I wouldn't do it. -
value of newly purchased rx turbo
Flowmastered87GL replied to jamie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That silver car looks like an 86 turbo sedan to me. Stickers on doors are missing though, but between the front bumper, grille and the door mirrors, I say its a 1986. But ya... donated... its gotta have issues. -
1988 Subie GL wagon dilemmas
Flowmastered87GL replied to methusalah's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Tell me about it, back when I had my GL I went through an autozone alternator every 6 months (glad they had a lifetime replacement) -

Flowmastered87GL replied to jamie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Its not worth that much, It would be worth $750 to $1500 to me personally. It WILL be worth a little more in WI though since most of the old subies have rusted away. I would NOT trust it to drive back unless you had documented proof that the car had new hoses and head gaskets. -

You know you are old school when you recognize this as Zaps secretmobile from WCSS3 -
Hopefully it does not come to this for you, but on my first 82 brat I had a problem like this. Brand new clutch kit (old flywheel that worked with the old clutch) It would BARELY move under its own power... like a snails pace. Everything checked out in spec. I ended up swapping in an 84 clutch setup and it magically worked. I tried removing the cable too. So try taking the clutch cable off (and make sure something is pulling on the fork like the hill holder or a return spring) to make sure the clutch is engaged. Try starting it in 1st gear (And be ready to turn it off really quick) and see if it lurches. My brat wouldnt even lurch.

Awesome... if the engine breaks I bet you could try squeezing an EA71 in there -
Webers can't pass DEQ? Hogwash.
Flowmastered87GL replied to TeamCF's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ha nice, I never had to take any of my webers through DEQ, but good to know that they could have passed with some tinkering. Though I highly doubt I will ever own one again :-\ -
EA82 Cruise Control

The car lacks power so much that I would never bother with it personally. -
It will have to be custom done. There are no off the shelf aftermarket exhausts for GL's

I would check the motor brushes, they went out on my GL (back when I had it)... perhaps the inversion is enough to make the worn brushes make contact just right.... -

You may want to consult a lawyer too. If you are sore, get it documented and handled legally properly or it may bite you later. -
