  1. Ya... probably an 82GL that got hit in the front. Therefore the new bumper and ghetto grille. And the drivers side side-marker looks more like an 80-81ish model.... like its for round headlights or something... Not sure what they were thinking with the chrome junk on the hood
  2. On my GL I had one custom made. The exhaust shop in town ordered a 2 input, 1 output universal cat and bent up tubing to make it look pretty similar to a stock y pipe.
  3. size wise an impreza or outback sport would probably be pretty similar. a legacy / outback would be larger feeling.
  4. Serviously for 2 grand, its not worth it. As you can get a legit EA82 out here for $500-$1000 in great shape. All the ones I reconditioned years ago only sold for between $900 and $1200. (Most around 160-220K on them with all new seals, timing belts, etc) Its cheaper to have one of us look at one and then you fly out and pick it up and it will be truly rust free. Hell maybe have General Disorder restore one for you so that you know it will make it home (and so he won't sell it out from under you)
  5. Still too early for me... I think I have to fly solo this year :-\ But I will try to meet up with you guys when I get there. I still have Freds cell #
  6. I would NOT rely on an EA82T to get me up to the mountain An EA82 with a carb or fuel injection is reliable enough to suffice, but an EA81 with the lack of timing belts is by far the best. Simplify it with a weber carb and its pretty simple to keep running.
  7. Ya my poor rigs get pretty neglected sometimes... I comped my brat today and had not cleaned it up from the last time I ran it... so once I got throught the first gate I realized all the mud from 2 weeks ago was causing major front end binding. Had to take a break and run it through the river to get all the mud out of the front end.
  8. Ok good I won't need a permit then... the Baja is NOT going to try that mini rubicon
  9. Ya sounds right. Turn it 360 afew times and check it on each rotation to make sure the marks line up each time. I always had turned my engines over once or twice to make sure it held timing. Probably unnecessary, but good for peace of mind.
  10. What would be easy is to lay down some thick rubber truck bed style mat. Washable, removable, hopefully would help insulate against noise.
  11. So.... how WIDE are the trails?? I don't want any more beauty marks If its wider than the narrow little brush hole we went through last year and no more rough than the roads we drove on, I may be able to do this.
  12. Since you took em out you might as well replace the belts unless they are pretty new. If you did not move ANYTHING in the engine you should probably be ok with where stuff is at. Just note this. The flywheel should be at the center of the ||| mark. One cam should have the "o" hole facing up. the other should be down. (thats the purpose of the 360 degree rotation you read about) Do the rearmost belt with the o up. Then turn the engine 1 turn. That first cam will now be at the bottom and the front one will be at the top. Also make sure you preload the belts something like 8 pounds (consult your manual for exact torque, its been afew years since ive done an EA82) to the LEFT before tightening down the tensioners.
  13. My paintshop skills suck.... But I am thinking of something like this roughly... maybe with a different cab that has less overhang though. I figure it would cost at LEAST $400 to build it.... but it would be so worth it to have an 8 wheel drive SWRT beer cooler
  14. Get with the times Rob, she had a Black outback Which she recently sold
  15. Those rears look really close.... like if you hit the brakes or took a jump and the rear suspension travelled down it could hit the front of the wheel well/fender.
  16. Lame... but its more important that you make it than the Brat anyway
  17. I was going to try to bring some maple bacon ice cream for NVZeno to try, I just need to figure out how to keep it cold enough... hard to get dry ice in downtown PDX :-\ On another note... bringing this too:
  18. I still can't get my scratches from last year out :-\ I may need a professional buff
  19. I like to use the aerosol scrubbing bubbles... seems to work on the plastic and even the carpets. Of course test in a non visible spot first (like under a floor mat to make sure it doesn't bleach your carpet or anything) I never had an issue though.
  20. Will do, though you very well may beat me. If so you guys need to save me a spot. hopefully I will bring more food this year
  21. New or not its still probably going to need new seals and timing belts I'd pay around $500 for it if I needed one and knowing that I would have to throw afew bucks into it to make sure it doesn't leak (at least for a little while)
  22. Just remember that if you cross the Bridge of the Gods that its a toll bridge. I think its in the area of 50 cents to a dollar.
  23. Still not done with the 6x6 ram and I am already thinking about the 8x8 idea. running some big 2.2 inch wheels and 5+ inch tires, probably a mercedes cab with a dakar style rear box, all painted in SWRT colors.... and here is the kicker... I want the box to be insulated to double as a cooler!! Just think.... an 8 wheel drive, 8 wheel steering beer cooler!!
