  1. For DIRECT Bolt in... an EA81 style (gen 2 car) would be the best donor... 1980-1984 wagons/sedans. Ea82 seats can fit with some modifications as can XT and XT6 seats. Legacy seats are probably the most comfortable, but you also need to make an adapter plate for them. There may still be a pattern on the USRM for the adapter plates to make a legacy seat fit in. If not I may still have the JPG laying around somewhere on a CD.
  2. Yes the clutch and most of the drivetrain should be pretty similar. The main difference between the 2 cars will be the carb on the 86 VS the SPFI on the Loyale.
  3. 2 years ago the Canadian end was at the west end. Near the trees / one set of bathrooms and a half-pipe which was later used for jousting Along the water I think is a decent camp spot... though things may be arranged differently this year.
  4. I will keep an eye on this thread, but don't wait up for me... it just depends on how much, if any relief I can get for my route at work. :-\ Worst case I will just drive out and meet you guys in camp in the evening if you save me a spot (assuming you/we) camp in a similar situation to last year. NEAR Canada, but not quite in the thick of it.
  5. Got me a pilsner glass and a shirt Reminds me of the "Brewtus" glass at Applebees
  6. Who knows, it may go away after you drive ned for a little while. My legacy project (years ago) ticked like crazy until I started to drive it everyday.
  7. Don't go too much on the exhaust until you fix the richness issue. I blew up a $400 exhaust system that way My system was full custom, 2.0 ID to the cat, 2.25 to the muffler (40 series delta flow flowmaster, I think offset input centered output maybe) and 2.5 out. GLCraig MAY still have the exhaust system (the good one, not the blown up one).... last I knew it was in his storage unit. Its ONE piece and was technically made for a wagon, but may fit a sedan IF its even still around... It seemed to go through exhaust gaskets not having some kind of flex joint though... or maybe my exhaust studs just sucked
  8. If you want more power either swap the engine, or maybe put a delta cam in your EA81. Have you opened up the exhaust yet?? Just a NORMAL EJ22 will almost put out double the stock output of an EA81
  9. Nice, I have only been able to watch stuff on youtube recently for my subaru off road fix as I dont even have a VHS player to watch my tapes :-\ I really hope to have this ram ready for WCSS... should be fun to play around with. If I don't finish it I still have my scaler brat... complete with working front winch
  10. If its 4WD it should have 185/70's if I recall correctly. 2WD's had 175/70s. If you want a little more height/sidewall get 185/80's
  11. I forget where my thread for the 6x6 went, but here it is as of today Suspension fab is complete, needs a steering link still, and I have to figure out how to mount the body and where the put the electronics.
  12. Older Bajas (like 2003) had a power seat. Not sure if they had any more legroom though as I have never sat in one older than my 05 :-\
  13. You were saying you gapped the plugs at 1MM... and they WERE at .040... I think what it WAS before was closer to correct. I dont have my manual in front of me but I seem to recall the proper gap is in the .043 range.... maybe thats inches?? I just know where it should fall on my gauge though (and the OEM ones are correct out of the box 99% of the time) Of course maybe I am reading stuff wrong.... 1MM may convert to the proper measurement in inches and the previous owner may have used the inch measurement in MM or CM or something....
  14. Funny, I never even wandered over off the pavement :-\ It was just an afternoon long so I didn't have much time to explore. WCSS10 was near Astoria so several people took a little road trip to the beach.
  15. Blast from my past... WCSS5 stuff I found....my GL, GD's GL"10" wagon (before lift) and Craigs GT wagon. We were some of the first ones there My GL, Noah's DL, and I THINK Edrach's 87 GL Turbowagon (later sold to Hondasucks) Mmmm weber...
  16. I have never known of EA82's having gaskets on the lights. On all the wagons I have owned it seemed more that the "Gasket" was just a ring of goo probably dispensed from a caulking tube or something.
  17. Ugh... automatic AND has rust?? I wouldn't pay over $500 personally
  18. Probably not worth trying to make it work. You can put in an XT6 or a Nissan Maxima? Alternator if you want more output and they are much less work, and if you dig a bit, you can probably find posts showing how to install and wire them properly.
  19. If you do take the hill holder cable off of the clutch fork make sure you install a suitable replacement spring that attaches to the clutch fork up to somewhere on the engine to help the clutch return to engaged position.
  20. 5 speed or auto? My baja had a CEL due to a neutral safety switch and it ended up just being a loose plug. (5 speed in my case)
  21. XT seats came in Grey and Blue most commonly. I think I saw brown ones ONCE. XT6 seats are the nicest and I THINK are the direct bolt in if you use the seatbelt mounting hole (or something like that) I had XT4 GL seats and they were decent (fixed headrests). The later XT Turbo and XT6 seats have nicer fabric and adjustable (tilt front to rear) headrests. Your best bet for a back seat is probably an 86 GL-10. and 87+ will be the button type upolstry which looks more caddy than subaru. 85 GL-10's are pretty tough to find (if they even made em??) The fabric will be a pretty close match, just a little softer (more velour like) For XT6 seats you will likely end up with grey. XT4 seats are about half and half blue and grey. I think about half the EA82's I have owned had blue interiors, the others were brown or grey (never had a black or black/red one)
  22. I'm jealous... my GL never even made it to 100K of that. If I had room for a second car, I'd buy it off you just for the novelty factor of the high mileage
