  1. A little throttle and you can pull right out of that
  2. What they both said... did that on my project legacy and it worked great. I chipped off most if not all of the flaking black stuff. Sanded it all smooth, masked off the body of the car and primed and painted em black again
  3. How many miles?? on my old GL the front suspension bushings were so sloppy I would eat tires and the front tire would move front to back. I watched les schwab pull it in the garage once and they showed me how bad it was.
  4. Maybe use Schwab to blast and coat the wheels, an americas tire or some other smaller tire shop to do the swapping of the rubber?
  5. Yay another local If you want center caps for those wheels, odds are les schwab has some that will fit pretty cheap. The same caps would fit most 6 lug small import pickup wheels so they would not be special order or anything... Those front seats look EA81 to me... maybe from a DL or something?? Looks like a kinda rough (but durable) fabric. Bring that thing to the west coast subaru show and show it off
  6. A one owner Baja (ya I know it says old school part.... but I have a brat logo on my Baja so it counts)
  7. I like it right up to the 20's. After 18" I think its just useless unsprung weight
  8. That to me makes no sense.... your neck of the woods is so much closer to the mountain. Then again I was up by PDX today and it was 34 and ice, and just afew miles away in Oregon City it was 46 This weather is freakish...
  9. How about a NEW sealed bottle of Cybrid steering fluid?? (I think Hondasucks MIGHT have one...)
  10. Trying to get one of the ideas up and running for WCSS??
  11. Given the economy, I wouldn't do it personally. (plus I could never get away with wearing shorts in the winter there with as cold as it gets) But if family needs you there or something (like you need to be there to care for someone) then do it.
  12. HA ha ha.... thats sweet.. a woodgrain EA82 dash. Speaking of which... I saw a Woodgrain (exterior) EA82 wagon once in a junkyard. Just woodgrain shelf paper possibly but it WAS done really well, so may have been an option from an individual dealer or something....
  13. Hmmm rare stuff. - Rear window louvers (any model) - Brat HARD bed cover (seen ONE in my life in person) - The red GL/GL-10??? 85-86 or so model year "pimp" interior. (black interior, but red fabric on seats and door trim) - The 4 hole sport mag wheels. (seen afew sets, but they are still rare)
  14. Buy it, steal the rear disks, and any other parts better than what you have (example being seats, tires, etc), then sell it for more than you paid and use the money to either: Buy an EJ swap (like a rear ended 92 legacy or something....) or Buy a less tired used EA82 engine and plop it in your 88. I have been through the turbo nightmare twice and the cars are nice when they work well and are maintained... but once they get to this age you have to really keep an eye on them.
  15. I dont know the answer to how to fix it, but its the salesmans JOB to know how to properly operate the vehicle. When I sold cars I knew them inside and out. Unless you otherwise loved the salesman, personally I would rip them apart on the survey saying they didn't know a thing about the car.
  16. being that its 2WD and auto... I honestly would not pay more than $1000 for it. Especially since its NOT rust free (yes I know no holes, but I am on the west coast) I could care less about the miles as its kind of a mid low.... its not 4 digits so its not super low.
  17. Its a DL... good riddance Now if you crushed a rust free brat there would be a mob after you
  18. not sure if you need welding done or not... but either a friend would have a welder hopefully (I do but I am too far) or a shop would weld it up cheap... like under $50. (I had a glasspack put on one of my old turbowagons years ago for $50 and that included the pipe into and out of it and labor) (but not the glasspack itself)
  19. Thats what I do ^^^ I find the best price online and see how close my local dealer can get to it.
  20. Nice... a proper Baja trail width gauge
  21. Easy fix.... disconnect the battery when you park it. On my 87 GL like 9 years ago the horn started going off for no reason. My particuar issue was the horn wires were grounding out to the core support as they had been chafing for the last 230K miles and worn through. I pulled the battery cable, pulled the headlights, cut out the bad wire and soldered in some new stuff and wrapped it up good. If you went punching the wheel, ya the switch in the wheel may be the culpret in your case.... but until you have time to do it... just pull the negative cable.
  22. If fits... but I would not drive on the road like that.... Good way to get pulled over. At the very least throw a red flag hanging off the back for the overhang.
  23. What is the voltmeter saying?? The GL should have a voltmeter. But yes to me it sounds like the alternator is weak (based on what my GL's did when their alts died). The voltmeter would confirm this if its like 11 volts at idle and 14 if you rev it up or something.
  24. Eh, I would probably say its worth around $1000 tops. Consider buying it back for parts as buyback is only like $50 usually. Unless the engine and tranny are screwed now. Try to find that craigslist ad of that 82 or so GL up in Washington thats cherry and like $2000-3000 and just ask em to buy you that one!!
