  1. Ha ha some of those pics are great austin, the one of me and noah and Amandas BF (sorry forgot name already.. Rick?) where you left the frame speed wrong came out pretty neat. Love the one of my brat sitting in line for the mud pit behind a 1:1 size brat. And the staff all piled on the golf cart with Brian giving the bird is funny.
  2. Thanks for leading our little off road excursion (and bridge toll??) I think the clear coat is gonna be fine.

  3. Someone else can probably confirm this, but on the gen 3 GL's (sounds like you have a gen 2) you have to rotate the piston in. Dont just push it in. Some people like to stick pliers in the little holes and twist, others use a small cube with pins on it from the auto parts store that you can stick on your socket wrench and turn it.
  4. Ya poor dave and passenger are flying solo til we meet them in Toppenish WA :-\
  5. If a trashwagon can make it from Indiana to WCSS5, a non-trash wagon (or sedan or whatever) should be able to make the whole run.
  6. It could be any number of things. I would either guess a leaky hose up under the intake or an intake gasket from my previous EA82's
  7. Not sure if anyone official is left in town to answer this... But probably, the fees collected help support the show and make it better and better each year. And I seem to recall the camping fee is actually going straight to the campground this year. But dont quote me on that.
  8. You could probably find an EA71 STD hatch. Cheap, reliable and super mileage
  9. If you see any cones in the ditch on the way up... grab em.... then put em in the mud pit and pretend its a rallycross
  10. Make sure to check the frame rails really well, the firewall, inside the door jams (even up by the hinges), under the battery....
  11. Depends how big the nevada crew is... I am hoping for at least 10 cars by the time we get to the show. Did some scouting today. (And got paid for it... work sent me out there) If we wanted to top off with gas on the way there I am thinking Toppenish (cheaper and easier access than Yakima), then take the little 4 mile road (22 West I think) to I-82 after all our cars tanks are full for the final leg. I really would not like to "assume" everyone can make the drive on a single tank. Remember that we will be pulling mountain passes that may not have any gas for 50 or more miles. Scoobyclimbs talked about maybe stopping to take photos along the way too... like a ring of subarus parked in front of stonehenge or something... we can discuss that Friday morning.
  12. Those 2 statements really don't agree (rarely do brats on the coast stay rust free) Sorry I am to busy to look though :-\
  13. This is the other thread for leaving early... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=114552
  14. Again... bad idea... an EA82 really isnt enough power for a Vanagon. If you have your heart set on using that EA82... stick it in an EA82. I have had my share of them and like them... but they really are not that good of an engine design.
  15. Perhaps there should be mention also that the local law enforcement knows we are there... so if you wanna do crazy stuff with your car DO IT IN THE MUD PIT, not on the roads!!! We want to make a good impression
  16. Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner are mentioned.... I assume thats saturday. Are we on our own for food on Friday night and Sunday morning??
  17. IMO you would be best off buying a GL with a blown engine... putting in your good engine, selling that and using the money to either buy a good EA81 or buy a legacy parts car (like wrecked for $300 or something) and convert the brat.
  18. Got some decal work done... hopefully a little more to come...
  19. ya I bought a brat like that once... money pit... shoulda parted it out
  20. What kind of MPG you getting?? Or do we have to hunt you down at the show to find out??
  21. Maybe got noisier because the timing was off because the belt was going all crazy before it finally blew?
  22. I think I did my brat with about 10 cans of OD green. My wife HATED the color. But on one EVER parked next to me because they feared the beater brat You can do some cool camo effects if you get a mix of like green, grey, black, tan and stuff and maybe some leafs or ferns laid on it and sprayed, then removed. Google camo paint jobs or something.
