  1. I kinda wonder how the direct injection will go for reliability?? I am trying to get my parents to get a 2016 because at this point its the last of the model year and hopefully should be pretty reliable since they have mostly got the excessive oil use taken care of. I can't help but wonder if introducing the direct injection will bring on some other issue for people who keep their cars for 20 years. Will you end up with excessive carbon buildup? Will the engine eat oil? Will it run totally awesome?? Too much uncertainty for me to recommend it to my family. (and at this point I won't even recommend eyesight for the long term.... also interested to see how it holds up)
  2. 10 years ago when I used to fix up GL's I woulda sold something like that for $1200-$1500.
  3. I wouldn't pay that much for it. Even with low miles the timing belts are still gonna fail and if they have not been changed the hoses will all be dried out at this point. around 10 years ago I used to sell mechanically reconditioned GL's in the $1200-1500 range. But that was with 200,000+ miles. But they had everything new pretty much. (fresh fluids, head gaskets, water pump, timing belt, hoses, etc)
  4. Try this thread. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/123229-anyone-want-to-get-a-free-vin-check/page-4?hl=+free%20+carfax
  5. I like the idea of doing this... it solves the issue of the growing scarcity of 5 lug conversion parts as well as puts a more modern (better handling) suspension under the EA series car... and you get an EJ swap and lift too!
  6. Hey Subaru Fans! We're excited to announce this years West Coast Subaru Show. We'll be trying out a brand new location this year at the Enumclaw Expo Center. The site has much to offer, including the largest camping space we've used, one of the nicest mud pit arena's we've ever used, and excellent on site food options. The show will be held August 12-14th. We'll see you all there, in the shadow of Mt. Rainier!
  7. I know you don't use Facebook Dave, but maybe you can still view this? https://www.facebook.com/westcoastsubarushow/?fref=ts
  8. Don't trust them at all. I had one that would be 3 bars up, but my analog gauge would be indicating overheating. My 86 Gl-10 Turbo.... I can't even remember how many times we overheated that damn thing.
  9. That is one of the reasons to have a wife... she can drive the Outback and you can drive the XT6
  10. In my opinion the hybrid is a bunch of added cost and complexity for very little gain in gas mileage. If it got Prius level gas mileage I could consider one... but I would take a normal gas powered one personally. Much more likely to make it to 200,000 or even 300,000 without needing major work (like a new battery pack) Also in Oregon at least, the dealers seem to be having trouble selling the hybrids. The gas ones are selling faster than they can get them in stock.
  11. Took me a while to find them... but here are some REALLY old pictures of this car.... maybe early 2000's??
  12. Wow... the black half is really the remains of the Rotary RX?? I have pictures of that from I don't even remember when!! (either late 90's or early 00's)
  13. Anderson Design and Fabrication is making lifts for the newer rigs now. Easiest way to find them is on Facebook.
  14. Yes that was Evans Creek. I still have the T-shirt from there (though its too big now) I remember having to get out of the way of the brown beast while leaving as my GL could not take the potholes on the access road as well as the beast.
  15. Oh, ya I guess it is white.... the khaki always looks different each time you look at it so I figured this was still the color you were getting.
  16. Wow... Khaki looks hot with the STi wheels!
  17. Yes! I too have a dream to build a better than original brat go kart someday. (FYI I am the person who sold you the grill for the first lifted 82 you did around 10 years ago.)
  18. And to be really authentic... they would have to be from a BRAT as GL seats may either have a foot access pedal on the passenger seat or movable headrests or both. I am sure you know this, but 82's should have the awesomely ugly flannel upholstery.
  19. I had a 92 loyale that would lock up the front when you got over 5 MPH. I ended up replacing the transmission.
  20. I have some old pictures from WCSS3 in my photo album (like real photos not in a computer). They are mostly just of the cars though, very few of the people.
  21. I was not the one who did this, (and therefore don't deserve or need the prize) but someone got their car home with a broken throttle cable by stringing their shoe laces together and making a hand throttle that they pulled via the drivers side window.
  22. I'm in the back row far right on that "harder" picture. And my GL wagon (the silver gen 3) is on the WCSS6 dash plaque.
  23. Since you are pulling the engine, I would do them now... as well as the oil seals.
