  1. For ideas of other stuff to do during downtime at the show.... there are plenty of hiking and biking trails within 10-30 minutes of this show We wouldn't be subaru owners if we didnt do something outside. Be aware that crossing to Oregon via bridge of the gods or hood river bridge = small toll
  2. You dont specify Subaru... So I have 499,100 miles on my 2004 Freightliner truck at work Ok my Baja has 49,900 miles.. no way I am winning
  3. I ran just bulk hose on my GL... never smoked I had a genuine subaru PCV valve also.... do you have one or just a fram cheap-o???
  4. Sorry if that was taken the wrong way, I was just saying the honda people probably wouldn't get us restoring a subaru. Glad you are showing the coupe some more love
  5. something along the lines of a frame made of small square tubing welded together with a decently strudy metal mesh floor would work... may be heavy though. Size it to be the size of the base of the tent size. You may need a place to lean a ladder up against the car.
  6. Sweet, nice pictures... I was wondering what year you bought. Glad you aren't afraid to get dust on it. Gonna get all seasons before October rolls around? Maybe some studless for the winter
  7. Yes you did, I brought one, and kinda regret it... ya its cool to say I brought the one and only that will ever be at a show... but as you work your way into it, it kinda gets hard to properly judge who is and is not really authorized to be taking from it (proper age, if they have had too much, etc). Thinking back it may even be considered a bit disrespectful to the organizers that I had brought one. If it was I am sorry. Much easier to regulate alcohol consumption on the campsites if each person is responsible for their OWN stuff. Keeps down on minors working their way in and possible legal responsibilities associated with such.
  8. I agree, its not really a wheeling car, its more of a gravel road, smoother dirt field car at most. If you want a true subaru wheeler there are likely some that fit the bill better than this in the for sale section. I know plenty of people would take this RX off your hands. And throw thousands of dollars into it probably Maintenance checks.... on these cars... everything under the hood. Hoses and gaskets LOVE to leak or burst on the EA82T engine
  9. Sweet! I think I can make it if we can get back from vacation on time To those who dont know where Stevenson WA is.... its on Washington SR14... a fun road when its dry and you arent stuck behind an RV (But dont speed on it, keep it legal!! the corners are plenty fun at 55 or so)
  10. i wouldnt say that older EJ25's overheat and blow head gaskets... its more like the head gaskets leak as they age, the coolant gets low because people dont check it, it runs out and THEN the engine overheats. Well that would be the logical assumption on it... my EA82 was like that... knew the coolant was getting low when the temp started climbing
  11. What he said.... if your other 3 tires have some wear on them, buy 4 new ones. Or find a near identical used one.
  12. eh i suppose it depends on what the 20% off is. 20% off the part and installation?? decent deal if you dont want to install it yourself. 20% off of retail on the part? eh you could probably find it online for that price.
  13. wow that looks like very little damage for basically hitting (or having one hit you) what amounts to a cow on stilts
  14. Wow doesnt look too bad. A clean dry set of seats from u pull it may be worth looking into though. Not sure how well seats power wash out :-\
  15. regarding the outback remark I have not requested the time off, but should have no trouble doing so, I just need to convince my wife to let us come back from CA and AZ soon enough for me to make it to the show (as it is I already have to miss the evans creek campout :-\)
  16. probably... we need someone independently wealthy to front the money to reproduce all these rare parts. I volunteer... who wants to give me a winning lotto ticket
  17. Nothing like torturing you all with this... but I was up at the Rite Aid in Marysville WA this morning and a gen 1 brat (I think it was reddish or brown?) with a hard black bed cover WITH LOUVERS on it drove by! Anyone know who this is? Board member? Never seen one of those covers in person Sorry I dont have a camera phone, and even if I did I wouldn't have been able to pull it out fast enough But they DO exist out there!! We need to find this brat and reproduce the cover!
  18. according to cars101.com the northwest region still has 1500 on legacy models and 2000 on outback models. til June. Not sure of your region. but if you really dont have a rebate now.... wait. one will come back since you dont NEED a car now.
  19. Any place near i-5 (seattle, portland, olympia, etc) is pretty close to the pacific. Our show last year was REALLY close to the ocean.
  20. Likely wont make it With WCSS (LIKELY) 1 week after this, and the week between the 2 being the only week my wife was given off work all summer means I will likely be visiting friends and family in CA and AZ this weekend (of the campout) and into the week right up to WCSS Not blaming my wife... blaming my wifes WORK. But thankful for work at the same time
  21. I would try PB blaster... if not that, then a knife or screwdriver and a shop vac.
  22. Take a look at this site that an internet manager in Seattle posts. www.cars101.com He lists the invoice value of each model as WELL as the rebates... and often times WHEN the rebate expire. If you want a no-haggle deal you can try buying one through AAA, or your local credit union. Or Costco. Their prices are likely going to be 100-500 over invoice less applicable rebates. I would not think it unreasonable if you can get one near invoice to take near trade in value on your durango if you trade it in. (kbb or NADA trade in value) however if you can avoid trading in, sell it privately... you can save $$ that way. As long as you dont buy the car at retail and take wholesale for your car, you are getting a halfway decent deal. If they want to sell you a car at retail, get retail for your trade. though dont expect them to give you retail for your trade if you pay wholesale for the car. Dont be afraid to walk, or take a copy of your deal to another dealer to make em beat it. On the note of 2010 VS 2009. The 09 will likely be more troublefree and cheaper. Its the route I would go personally. The 10 will likely be nicer and more refined but more expensive (though it will have better resale) but since its a first year model... may have more quirks. And since I keep my cars for years and run them into the ground, I could care less about resale and more about how well its built and will last me.
