  1. sweet. Its really that hard to find rear discs over there? They are a dime a dozen still on the west coast
  2. My old GL. Although this particular pic was not taken at WCSS3, it shows why I won the "antenna award" there This is only as much dust as 90 or so HP could kick up ... this one IS at WCSS3. Not sure whats up with the guy humpin the cone. And thats subiegal in the foreground.
  3. so I assume power is something along the lines of an RX tranny low range? (like a 1.1 reduction?)
  4. Stick with it... it may take afew months off to get the motivation to get back to it. My rusty brat was an example of that.... had it nearly 2 years, had tons of clutch issues, it was a money pit.... but it came out nice in the end. (even though I sold it for $1000 less than I put into it)
  5. that picture looks kinda like nicky nighteyes old lifted wagon.... I am in Portland but dont have a wheeling rig right now
  6. I am somewhat interested... I know richie has a body... has a repaired crack, but may be enough to create a mold. I would likely want to put it on a custom frame or something... Should fit nicely in the Baja Just gotta convince the wife that its a good investment
  7. i have found the valve cover gaskets to usually leak the worst. its funny because they are the easiest to replace too.
  8. Eh it depends.... if you have the means (like a parts car or a friend with a parts car) to get the parts you need to make it run, then yes. If you will have to go to a junkyard for it all... not really, parts get expensive fast. Especially with core charges for parts you dont even have.
  9. That in itsself is an accomplishment on an EA81 PS its like 55 here :-p
  10. soon the XT6 guys will be doing conversions to 4 lug just to belong :-p
  11. i suppose it would depend on what it was.... if it was an 88-89 dual range wagon.... maybe... but it would still likely need oil seals timing belts and a water pump like ANY EA82
  12. i dont recall where the connectors are on this particular model... but nothing on a subaru ever is supposed to be shorted out. They were smart and put matching plugs in instead
  13. depending on how the roof is welded together.... it would be neat to put a sunroof in it..... give it the FULL GL-10 package... well GL-9.... dont recommend a digidash
  14. in my opinion the dying of the 5 speed carbed one is likely the original carb. They tend to be neglected and (in my opinion) are best to be swapped to a weber 32/36 DFEV carb. There is NO WAY you would ever pass CA smog with a weber because lots of stuff is removed. But since you say you can smog once and then modify.... thats what I suggest... smog it, then weber it. Yes it wont be super fast, but it will be reliable. Both cars will have around 90 HP (a webered 85 or a turbo 84)
  15. I wish you luck on the clutch issue. The clutch on my 82 brat (new!) was slipping so bad I couldnt move the car more than slow walking speed. Everything showed in spec... new pressure plate, new disc, and resurfaced flywheel (measured to be where it should too) eventually I just bought a bigger 4WD flywheel from 83+ and another new clutch and the problem went away. Never found out what was wrong.
  16. drag a couple old rust free cars out there.... should be able to pay for the move and then some
  17. get a carcass from somewhere with no salt. Texas, Oregon, Washington.... you could likely find a rust free carcass here free with no engine or transmission.
  18. i dont see a link :-\ its not really that it has low HP.... it hopefully should make plenty of torque.... which should be fine for the justy. See what kind of MPG you can get out of that puppy!
  19. wouldnt surprise me if they just wanted them for the scrap metal tweekers suck:dead:
  20. welcome to the 300 club... not many of us have run a car that high lots of 200k's on here, and even more 100's My GL hit 321k before too much finally was wrong with it that I just ended up parting it out.
  21. my only issue on my brat was 4low and reverse didnt want to work together. I THINK i could pop it in reverse first THEN hit 4 low and it would work though, but not the other way around :-\
  22. Indeed... I miss my GL, and still they they are easier to work on than EJ's Richie and Aaron said I was crazy but I have done like 5 EA's and 1 EJ... just experience talking I guess :-\ Most of my GL's were $200-500 Later resold in more or less cherry shape mechanically and decent cosmetics for $1200-1500 average (around 160-240k on them)
