  1. as with any 2.5 liter engine.... have the head gaskets checked out preferibly by a reputable subaru mechanic. Its ok if they are bad, just adjust the price accordingly, get them fixed and have a great car for another load of miles
  2. No.... $1500 tops in my opinion... though you could get a legacy for that.... which is a better car. Find a $500 loyale and reseal it yourself and get a nice car for under $1000
  3. I agree 100% Make it cherry, EJ it, but if you want ABS of airbags get a gen 1 legacy.... ya ya i know what you said above....
  4. 95% chance you bumped the little rocker switch on the TOP of the steering column. Its there so you can run the lights with no keys (since the lights turn off with the ignition)
  5. Connie... keep good documentation on the rocket accident on the imp. If that side rusts and the other doesnt.... I see a free repair coming up in 10+ years (I had a brat with a new 1/4 panel and the replaced side rusted out because the seam was not properly sealed)
  6. - First off thanks to the helpers (yellow shirts, I think we all know who they are now ) If I didnt work 55-65 hours a week I would have helped more with the planning stage. - Wow... it was so crowded there! I think the car show had 210+ registered cars. - Nice to meet some new faces and always great to toast a beer with afew old faces - The "Wizard Staff" is so freaking pimp.... I gotta do that next year! - I apologize to any neighbors to Brad's / the Canadians campsite for any excessive rowdiness that my keg may have caused. It was a nice novelty to have but babysitting it kinda sucked so I will likely be back to cans / bottles next year. - Not sure if you all had the home cooking from the kitchen up at the parking lot area.... but those ladies had some good food! I ate the sausage egg and cheese bagel the first day and it was super good and the french toast and sausage today. It was good as well, but didnt quite top the bagel. Really liked the pasta dinner too.... I think it soaked up most of the PBR - I think we may have topped WCSS3 for best show evar
  7. I like that idea for the raffle better... just like WCSS3 I would have no use for ANY impreza parts.... but universal stuff like tint or service works for everyone
  8. roof rack cross bars for 00-04 outback / legacy. FREE
  9. Should I bring my shovel? I am bringing some wood just in case we want to make the fire BIGGER! And 2 cases of chocolate bars from work (Free) But I dont have enough graham crackers and marshmallows to make smores for everyone
  10. I would just get a replacement mirror from a u-pull it yard.... fish around in the cars feeling the mirrors and pull the one that feels the tightest.
  11. The owners name is Richie. (and his Dad is Rich) His logon here is Richierich (Richie's login) Richie's shop is currently the only shop (other than dealer tuneups and warranty stuff) that I trust with my Baja They are located on NE 82nd and prescott last I went there. He also has some parts cars, so he may have some hard to find parts floating around somewhere. And you can say Mike seconded Ed's recommendation
  12. also of note is that besides getting the belts on right, you have to torque them back to the LEFT and then tighten the tensioner bolt. I THINK its somewhere between 12 and 17 ft/lbs... .consult a HTKYSA book or chiltons or haynes manual for the specs.
  13. I've done interstate 40 through needles. its not a bad drive.... flat and straight.... sure faster than donner pass on i-80 but nowhere near as scenic. on the plus side I was able to have the truck riding the governor at 65 the whole way versus 25 up the stinkin hill to like 8000 feet then compression brake all the way down. Easier in a car, but still hard on it. I personally would go up to Sacramento and over 80 just because I like the scenery better and its summer.
  14. sorry I dont have a cover on mine, but there seem to be more Baja's on www.scoobytruck.com as its a dedicated brat/baja forum. I THINK that you can take off the up and down portion of the lid pretty easy (sorry not sure how though) but the back part by the window is a much more involved process
  15. its sweet, but really at that point its JUST a subaru body. Hell he could have stuck a Miata body on there if he wanted to :-p
  16. If I still had my bike I would bring it :-\ Y'all need to educate me on the current models and such so I can get a new one for WCSS11
  17. Thats all you had to say Now.... if I understand correctly, I can get there thrusday, but may have to move my tent in the morning?? (thats ok with me as I dont want to have my tent over on the "family friendly" side... for everyone elses sake and sleep. ) I am a little bummed that there is no auto x as I was going to try it in the Baja... oh well, maybe I will help volunteer with the rally or something
  18. all the caravans are leaving too late for me.... IF I FIND THAT I CAN GET IN I plan to leave thursday when I get my truck back from seattle around noonish... maybe shower at work and leave straight from there.... not sure yet. I want to already have a good buzz going when everyone else shows up... I guess the noisy section will form around me
  19. that double cab diesel toyota is sweet 4WD AND a 2.4 liter diesel  Ditto with the 4WD diesel Previa below it aways
  20. Also of note is that you can DRIVE ON THE BEACH in Long beach. In a responsible manner of course. Get too sideways and "the man" may have a word with you Bring a tow rope / chain if you go there. (I had to pull out Austin once)
  21. Getting the panel off will likely be the hardest part since it will be hard to get a screwdriver under the edge, Once its off (break it off if you have to, EA82 parts are a dime a dozen) you should be able to see the indent of where the plate is, then look for the rod that the handle moves. Move it and it should pop the hatch. Take out the whole assembly and swap it for a good used one (and maybe a new interior panel) When finished sit down on the rear bumper and have a beer Note that its been a while since I have been inside a hatch on one of these, but I think my instructions are more or less correct from what I recall.
  22. I was just at the Tillamook Cheese factory today and this was RIGHT NEXT DOOR!!! ARRRRGGGGHHH I should have stopped and taken a look but I didnt know it was there til now
