Who is going to WCSS17?
Flowmastered87GL replied to MR_Loyale's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
I'll be there, look for the Baja with Brat jump seats. -
New guy with a '06 baja
Flowmastered87GL replied to mark.crowson's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
I think you could get that color in 05 too. I had the option for it, but went with the darker blue. -
That must be a rare part.... if there are what... 1000 yellow XV's there must be even fewer of the sport grilles.

Brat Bed Speakers
Flowmastered87GL replied to SubieBrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I don't have a brat anymore, but have had two in the past. In my opinion they may be in slightly greater demand if you can make the kit in a way that you unbolt the stock panel (and keep it safe and unmolested somewhere) and then bolt in your replica panel with speaker. -
My 73' Coupe Restoration

Speaking of Homer Simpson.... isn't this car the same green as the Powell Motors Homer?? -
Would a lift kit devalue a Brat
Flowmastered87GL replied to iluvdrt's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Just lift it... its a DL and will NEVER be worth what a GL brat is worth. Keep all the parts you take out in a bucket or something though and you can always revert to stock as was mentioned earlier. -
I would agree with the above post... If the transmission has been shifting fine I would not have any reason to think it was going to fail. Maybe give it a gear oil change when you do the engine, and do the clutch if its not next to new, but otherwise I don't see why a non-abused manual transmission would fail.

I had a used JDM motor in my old GL and I got 100,000 miles of really hard use out of it. Had I been easier on it I am sure it would have lasted longer. If the car is not rusty I would do a JDM engine if you can get it cheap enough... keep in mind you should often reseal the engines (some new oil seals, new water pump, timing belt, etc) before putting it in. The CCR engine will be ready to go in as-is so factor that in to the cost (and the CCR engines are really good). If the car is rusty, junk it and get something else.

Sumoco's Radical BRATacular Solid Axle Adventure
Flowmastered87GL replied to sumoco's topic in Members Rides
Wow those new tires look meaty. The white rims look much better than the old ones. -
3rd cracked windshield in 2 years..
Flowmastered87GL replied to Subasaurus's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ok if its coming off of the truck I guess they would technically be responsible. Though it would be incredibly hard to prove. Since you have a dashcam you do have proof, but I bet you would likely need to go to small claims court to get them to even listen to you. -

Flowmastered87GL replied to Subasaurus's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I wouldn't expect you to be able to get the trucking company for paying for your windshield UNLESS the truck was defective somehow. For example if it was missing its mudflaps. -
Build a Loyale brat
Flowmastered87GL replied to Fish-N-Fool's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If you take your time and measure twice, or even 4 times and cut once... you should be fine.... just be patient and don't cook through the metal when welding it back together. Make sure to thoroughly check for wiring/hoses before cutting (for example for the dome light, rear wiper washer, etc) -
Who has had a rear go bad!?
Flowmastered87GL replied to firstsubi's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I had my rear something go bad... I assume it was a bearing... it was so toasted that the wheel was wobbling. I limped it home very slowly and converted the whole rear end to disk brakes (trailing arms and all) -

1990+ something. My guess would be off a Loyale rear hatch. -
Spare tire mounting ideas
Flowmastered87GL replied to jmoss5723's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Someone at the West Coast Subaru show had a BRAT with the spare tire hidden UNDER the jump seats. They were on a lifted removable frame that sat above the tire that was attached to the bed floor. -
Cheap clutch verdict?
Flowmastered87GL replied to Phizinza's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have had decent luck with Perault parts for clutches and the like. -
The EJ22 turbo is worth a decent amount. Sorry don't have an exact number but I would assume $500+??

What's this part?
Flowmastered87GL replied to jmoss5723's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Never experienced it, but I heard a rumor that if both lights burn out then the light will not illuminate either. It only comes on with ONE light burned out. -
Dumb Question? Loyale vs. GL (Wagons)?
Flowmastered87GL replied to DT250a's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The only window difference I am aware of on a Loyale VS GL is the side rearmost windows on a wagon. The bottom rear corner is chopped off on the loyale and the GL goes all the way down to a point. The rear hatch is pretty much a DL hatch. -
A Brat for the, uh, kids
Flowmastered87GL replied to Luvn737s's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
In my opinion you are best off taking the brat body and putting it on a Tamiya CC-01 chassis. The body fits perfect and it looks good with RC4WD 1.55 white steel wheels.
